Is there any way to reverse the "swipe to switch between fullscreen apps" controls?

I feel like the "swipe left to go to the app to the left" is actually counter-intuitive, especially when they were thinking about a touchscreen when designing this OS. The scrolling, though most people aren't used to it on a computer, makes sense because you move the page in the direction as if you were moving a physical page. The switching between fullscreen apps is the opposite and isn't natural for me, especially since I have been using an iPhone and iPad for a couple years now. Is there any way of reversing this control? If not, I think they should do the same thing that they did with the "natural" scrolling and have a checkbox to give you the option of either way.

I didn't see anything in the trackpad preferences as far as direction of the swipe. If anyone else can find it, I would love to be able to reverse it.

    No.
The iPad is a superior product - why go to a Nexus?

  • Is there any way to eliminate the locked file function in iWork apps?

Hi, I recently added Lion to my Mac. Is there any way to eliminate the "locked file" function. I do not use iCloud or Time Machine on my Mac. Thanks. Bob

I don't use Time Machine either but the option for this function is in the Time Machine options.
Open System Preferences > Time Machine
    Click 'Options'
The bottom option should be about auto-saving. To stop applications from locking documents, uncheck the box. To extend the peiod before the document is locked, select the appropriate time from the drop-down menu.
    Hope that;s what you wanted!

  • Is there any way to know the battery strength without 3rd party app?

Is there a way to do this without installing an app? Most reviews of such apps question the accuracy of their readings.
How does one know the "actual" battery strength as the OS inderstands it to be(besides looking at the tiny icon on the top right of the screen)?

You can't! Desktop Macs may try to 'count the electrons in and the electrons out' to determine the state of charge. It doesn't appear the touch does; many times I will get the Red 20% charge warning and then when I later turn the touch on the battery is still Green. This leads me to believe that the touch battery monitor simply looks at the voltage under load.

Pictures are designed to be copied off the device regularly as would be done with any digital camera.  There is no logical reason why anyone would fail to do this with supposedly important pictures.
If a recent backup exists, it is also possible to restore the device from the most recent backup, this may restore pictures to the device.  If it does, COPY THEM OFF THE DEVICE IMMEDIATELY for safekeeping.

  • Any way to reverse the recent 3.0 update?

Is there any way to reverse the recent update? My contacts via MS exchange appear and disappear on a random basis making the iPhone effectively useless as a normal phone. Would far prefer the non-updated iPhone that actually works. Any suggestions for backdating like Time Machine on the Macs?
    Thanks!

Since you installed 3.0, have you tried turning contacts off for over the air syncing with your Exchange account on your iPhone followed by turning contacts back on?
And/or have you tried deleting and recreating your Exchange account on your iPhone?

  • Is there any way to tell the differences between auroras or betas?

There are various arouras and betas released during each rapid release cycles.
Is there any way to tell the differences (changes/fixes) between auroras or betas?
bugzilla can only tell the target for landing but not releases for some of the changes/fixes ...

The Beta builds of a version has about six to twelve with nine being the average in last while until the 34.0 Betas. For Aurora which now currently called Developer Edition has checkins almost everyday so therefore there are updates each of those days.
For Beta builds you can look at http://release.mozilla.org/ and http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-beta/
For Aurora you can look through http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-aurora/

Hi I bought too many books at once through amazon for my iPad kindle.  Havent read any of them and Two I haven't actually gone in to, they have a banner across front which says 'new'is there a way of reversing the transaction either with amazon kindle or the iPad kindle application so I cane my money back?

You should ask Amazon about their returns policy or check the Amazon website. As that's who you bought them from they would be the best people to answer.

  • Is there any way to REVERSE a 'Restore' action on the iPhone 5?

Is there any way to reverse a restore action on the iPhone5?
I just got my iPhone and connected it to my itunes for the first time and it asked me to register my phone as new or restore from last iphone. I did not realize that this action would delete all of the pictures I took this weekend of my son. Please help! These pics are priceless.

No. You can not "reverse" a restore. If you didn't have the photos backed up, or uploaded to PhotoStream, they're gone.

  • Is there any way to uncomact the inbox and go back to a folder with files in it?

I am running Thunderbird 24.5.0 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
I let my inbox get rather big and Thunderbird decided to compact it, it seems to be just one file now. Now my virus checker says it has found a threat in the file InBox and wants to delete the file. I don't want to just delete my entire inbox. I was hoping that if I could uncompact it the virus checker could find and delete just the message causing the problem. I have deleted a lot of junk messages so the inbox is not as big now but I can't find any way of reversing the compression.

    Re: Anti-virus
Because emails are stored one after the other in a single file, anti-virus programs are not always designed to recognise this, they only see one file.
What you could do is create a folder on the desktop and save the emails as individual .eml files in that folder. Right click on highlighted emails and choose 'Save as' options. Select the created desktop folder where to save the email.
There is an addon called ImportExport tool which can offer more options; see link below and image..

Then scan the created desktop folder containing the .eml email files. the anti-virus will then pick up the actual email that it believes is corrupt. Once you know this, you can delete the actual email from the Inbox.
Remember that after emptying Deleted and Junk folders to right click on folder and select Compact to remove all traces.
Please read this article on Anti-Virus software.

  • If I use a sound clip in the multi-track editor multiple times; is there a way to reverse the clip w

If I use a sound clip in the multi-track editor multiple times; is there a way to reverse the clip without change all the instances where the clip was used in the same multi-track session?
I'm having to copy the clip rename it as clipreverses.wav then bring it back into audition to use it.
Sony Vagas you can flip the same clip on a different track with a right click and not affect any other copies of that clip.

Not that I'm aware of, no. You can easily make a unique copy of a clip (right-click on it, and you get it already saved for you), and I'd say that having this was more flexible in one way, at least, as you could then time-stretch it if you wanted to, without altering all other instances of it. Not saying that there wouldn't be any point in having a reverse-play option - I can see instances where it might be useful. It's just that it's not exactly difficult to achieve this anyway, which is probably why I don't ever recall a request for it!

  • If I backed up with a newer version of iOS than the phone I am trying to backup to.. Is there any way to bypass the setup assistant in order to download the new iOS on the new phone then go back and restore from my old phone?

if I backed up with a newer version of iOS than the phone I am trying to backup to.. Is there any way to bypass the setup assistant in order to download the new iOS on the new phone then go back and restore from my old phone?

Try deleting your last backup by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on again.  If it still won't back up, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding.  To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is preventing the backup and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails.  Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

  • Any way to reverse the "song management" click that made folders?

While maneuvering around iTunes, agreed to the automatic organizing of saved music files which put every song into its own little folder (where they were saved on our drive). As iTunes is not all we use, is there any way to reverse this?

    Yes, manually, via Windows Explorer.
I know you are wanting a one-click "undo" button via iTunes, but it doesn't exist.

  • HT1338 OS X mountain Lion and ICloud, my bookmarks have automatically been changed to those of my iPad, is there any way to reverse this?

I recently updated to OS X mountain Lion and activated ICloud, my bookmarks have automatically been changed to those of my iPad, is there any way to reverse this?

First, you need to go to System Preferences -> iCloud and uncheck the Safari item to prevent syncing bookmarks (among other things) between Safari on your Mac and Safari on your iPad.
Then you need to restore your bookmarks file from a backup.  To find the bookmarks file, go to your user Library folder (which is now invisible, so hold down the option key and choose Library from the Finder's Go menu), then look in the Safari folder that's in there. There should be a file called Bookmarks.plist. Replace it with an older version from a backup.
