The top part of the iTunes store...where it lists new stuff keeps swiping left. It's driving me crazy! How can I stop it?

You can't . It is used as a carousel to display new items. If it annoys you then scroll down the window until it dissapears and you will have a static displays of new Music, Movies etc

you can't reverse the process, once you accepted there is no other way, if you sync it to your itunes library in your computer it will automatically update the updated app as well.
What you can try though is delete the app from your iPad and try syncing it to your itunes library but if you set up iCloud it may update the app automatically

Hi, my PC system is Window XP Pro SP2, HP xw8400 Workstation w/ 2G Ram. And the PC has a Digidesign Pro Tools HD 1 audio system installed.
My problem is that after Quicktime player lauches, it will occupy the Pro Tools HD's hardware. And if I want to start Pro Tools software, "digidesign hardware is in use by another application." warning will occur and Pro Tools software will then quit. BTW, Digidesign's audio driver is not multi-clients compatible.
I have set Quicktime player's audio playback device to PC motherboard's audio device, and system's audio device is also motherboard's audio device, I even have checked the "use default device only" option. I can't understand why Quicktime player still occupies Digidesign's hardware, even it plays back audio through motherboard's audio device.
Though I can quite Quicktime player before lauching Pro Tools software, I still feel it's annoying and inconvenient, and want to know some ways to solve this problem.
Anyone can help? Thanks in advance. I have asked for help in Digidesign's offcial forum, no response.
BTW, the Quicktime player version on my system is 7.6.5, and each time Quicktime player launches, the sample rate led on the Digidesign's audio interface will flash, indicating that QT player is accessing Digidesign's hardware.

You are missing something simple but lets get it to stop as you want. Go to Settings/General/Bluetooth turn it off.

You will find that this is application dependent. Most Apple applications such as Safari and Mail will use the "sheet" type of dialog boxes that you are referring. There is no way for the user to change that behavior. Other, non-Apple, applications like Firefox use a "modal" dialog box for printing etc. The modal boxes can be moved around so you can see the page behind.

I just bought an iMac 21.5 and successfully connected it to my plasma HDTV using a Mini Displayport to HDMI adaptor and HDMI cables.
Ideally, I would like to have the HDTV set up as a second display for watching movies, rather than mirroring the two displays. However, if I set the iMac video output in this configuration, it seems like it permanently keeps the 2nd display on, even when my TV is turned off. As a result, some of the functions I have on (such as triggering Expose) when I scroll to the corners of my display stop working, unless I change mirroring on, or if I physically disconnect the HDMI cable from the iMac.
My question is - Is there any way in software to disable the video output to Minidisplayport (instead of mirroring, or disconnecting the cables)?
If it turns out that Mirroring is the only way to solve this, my question would be - does turning out mirroring affect the main iMac LED display in any way?

Yes the calendar is gone. I guess it is the notification center I am referring to that comes down when I accidently swipe the top of the screen. Is there a way to stop of notification center from coming down if you swipe the screen? I figured out how to stop the control center from coming up if you swipe the bottom on the screen. My iTunes match has just automatically renewed even though I'm about 90% sure that I deactivated it when I reinstalled iTunes due to the fact that iTunes match would make it crash every time...
I really can't justify spending £20 on something that I'm never going to use and I think it's kind of naughty of Apple not to send me an email before. I can't really say that I'm surprised with the way I've been treated as a customer since I got my iPhone.
But yeah, is there any way to cancel it and get a refund AFTER the renewal or is that completely unheard of?

You can always try contacting iTunes support and seeing if they will reverse the transaction. I would think that iTunes Match would show up on the Report a Problem page. Note: it's at the support agent's discretion on whether they'll issue a refund since the store policy is that all sales are final.

Is there any way to use the iTunes .itl file or .xml file to see what files I had previously to re-download songs?

I recently had to restore my computer and in the process of backing up my music library, half of my library from the letter 'm' onward was deleted.
I want to see if I could use the existing .itl file or .xml file that was automatically saved by iTunes in the iTunes folder previously (which I backed-up in my external drive) to view my past library.
I tried importing the library by going to File > Library > Import Playlist, but I got an error that said:
"Some of the songs in the "iTunes Music Library.xml" were not imported because they could not be found.
The .itl file was no help either in this case.

How did you try to make use of the .itl file? Double-clicking on .itl files doesn't switch libraries but opens whatever is currently the default library. To switch between library files either press and hold down shift as you launch iTunes until prompted to choose or create a library, or swap out one library file with another as described in Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.
There is also a link there to tips on recovering media from your device or account history. You may also be able to undelete media from the drive if the space it occupied has not yet been reused.

I have my audio files saved as AIFF, is there any way to tell the iTunes match to play back 256 version instead to save on cellular data use?

I have been using the match for about 5 months and it's very cool to have all the tunes with me at all times. But, my ATT 'unlimited' data plan slows down after a certain point and I can't effectively stream the big files I uploaded to the cloud until it resets the next month. I get about 12-15 days of no problems and then the rest of the month I'm taking cd's in the car.

Using iCloud Status you can see which Songs are uploaded. These can be placed in a playlist and saved to audio CD - in addition copy the playlist content to an open folder on your desktop.
Delete the Songs from your library & cloud; import the Songs as 256 AAC from CD; update iTunes Match.
At your discretion you can delete the local Songs once more and add back the original files from your desktop folder.
This way you have the original files for local playback and 256 AAC files in the cloud for download.
