Is there anything I need to do to my iPod Nano (2nd Gen) prior to selling it? reset anything? clear anything?

I want to sell my 2nd Gen iPod Nano, bought it a few years ago and have barely even used it, downloaded a whopping 6 songs to it.   Obviously not something I use or need......so I want to sell it.   So is there anything I need to reset or "clear" from it (settings) prior to selling it?
Also - when I go into "settings" and then "about" it says "Leesaloo's iPod" --- if someone buys this from me is it going to say that for them, too?   If so, how do I delete that? (my name)  I did try to "reset" (in settings) but it didn't seem to do anything or get rid of my name.
And a stupid question I know...but someone buying my iPod, they're not going to be able to access my iTunes account at all right?
Thanks so much

Restore the iPod to factory settings. This procedure wipes all content from the device and resets all of its settings back to their defaults. The new user will be able to plug in the iPod, rename it, and sync it with her or her own library.

  • Is there any update for iPod nano 2nd gen?

Is there any update (newer than 1.1.1) for iPod nano 2nd gen?

No one knows. They are released at irregular intervals whenever Apple feels the need.

  • I need to get the music off my Ipod Nano 2nd GEN onto either ITunes or in a music foldes on my new computer. Not all the music was purchased from Apple Itunes HOW DO I DO THIS WITHOUT LOOSING ALL MY MUSIC??

I have not had a computer for several years and I just got a new one. My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. Thank goodness I had it all on my Ipod Nano 2nd GEN. Now my problem is that I don't know how to get the music off my Ipod Nano onto my new computer!!! I was able to get the songs that I purchased thru ITunes by just authorizing my new computer. But I have alot more music that is on my Ipod nano that I can't put into my ITunes library. In fact, I can't even get my music into a file folder on my computer!! I really need help. I don't have any copies of the music anywhere else and some of it is hard to get. How do I get my music either into ITunes or into a file folder on my new computer or even if I could get my computer to recognize my Ipod and sync all the music into windows media or something like that. Every time I connect my IPod all that happens is that it tells me if I sync the IPod that it will replace all the music from my ITunes library on to my IPod. And I am guessing that means all my music on the IPod will be erased. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Thanks from the bottom of my songsters heart

From the OP: "My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. "
They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

  • Do you need a converter to charge Ipod nano (5th gen) using a non-Apple wall charger/plug adapter in Switzerland?

do you need a converter to charge Ipod Nano (5th gen) using a non-Apple wall charger/adapter plug in Switzerland? or is the Ipod Nano dual-voltage?

None of the iDevices are multi-voltage themselves...the chargers from Apple are all 110-240 volt.  You will have to look at the non-Apple charger you have and see if it says it handles 110-240 volts.  Most made today are capable of that range, or they would have to make a different item for each country.
All you probably need is a plug-pin converter, can find those in the airport, at least in Zurich, don't know about Geneva.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Call Apple Care.   You are still under warranty.  You also have 14 days from the date of purchase to return your iPod with no questions asked.
Take FULL advantage of your warranty.  Posting on a message board should be done as a last resort and if you are out of warranty or Apple Care has expired.

  • Is there a way to listen to radio on iPod nano 7th gen with Bluetooth headphones?

I know the iPod nano 7th gen uses the headphones as an antenna. I know there will need to be some sort of antenna attached. Does anybody know if there is an antenna on the market that can be plugged into the headphone jack that will allow audio to be sent to a pair of Bluetooth headphones?

There is currently no such antenna available.

  • IPod Nano 2nd Gen Frozen...Won't turn off or do anything at all

My husbands works just find. It was recognized and sync'd perfectly. I plugged mine in just the same; it responded, but said it was corrupted and I can't do a thing with it. It is completely frozen. Won't come up on computer; won't restore; just won't do anything when my husbands is perfect (bought at same time at same place). HELP!

Try first resetting the iPod by moving the hold switch on the top back and forth a few times (make sure no orange is showing), and then hold in the center button and menu button together for about 20 seconds. An Apple logo should appear.
If no Apple logo appears, let the iPod's battery drain by just letting it sit on a table, or something. After it is dead, plug it back in to charge, and it should work again.

  • Is there a way to put apps on the ipod Nano 4th gen??

I'd like to put a timer app for working out on here! Help!  Ive done some looking around and found various apps, but they all seem to be for the ipod touch/iphone/ipad.  Any help would be appreciated

There is a Stop Watch "app" already on my 5th gen nano.  From the main iPod screen, select Extras, then Stop Watch.  Your 4th gen nano probably has it too.

  • I need to downgrade my ipod touch 2nd gen Mc model back to 3.1.3 because that is what my default firmware was when i first bought it. iOS 4.2.1 is slow on my ipod, is there a way maybe if apple can reset my ipod touch back to 3.1.3?

is there a way if apple can reset my ipod touch 2nd gen MC model back to 3.1.3? because iOS 4.2.1 is slow on my ipod and i cant deal with also i cannot afford a new ipod at the moment. also 3.1.3 was my default iOS when i first activated my ipod touch. I bought it in December in 2009

"You can restore to Factory Default which should go back to the original system"
    This will not work..
A restore will always install the latest available software.
Again, there is NO legit way to go back at all.

  • I was downloading updates for ipod touch 2nd gen and twice when I was to processing files stage it clicked off. There was no message on whether it was done or what I was to do next. I needed to reset the ipod. Now what do I do?

I was downloading updates for Ipod touch 2nd gen and when the process was to the processing files point the screen changed and I wasn't given any idea as to whether the process was complete or not and if it was what was to be done next. I needed to reset the Ipod and now I am wondering what to do . Spend another Hour downloading and whatever amount on processing files and end up where I am now . Whats the next step in finding out what to do? This was the second attempt to do this with the first try happening the same except I am not sure how long the processing files part was.. Any suggestions as to what to try will be greatly appreciated.. Thanks

Likely a batter problem since high temperatures destroy a battery.  I wold make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to see what they say.  It is free except for your time.

  • My ipod nano 6th gen fell out of my pockey and the screen cracked badly, is there any coverage for this under warranty? I just bought it a month ago. If not what are the options for getting it fixed

My ipod nano 6th gen fell out of my pocket and the screen cracked badly, is there any coverage for this under warranty? I just bought it a month ago. If not what are the options for getting it fixed? It is pretty frustrating, it fell from about 3 feet out of my pocket and now looks like it was beaten by a hammer.

he advises restarting by inserting the OSX disc and pressing down the C button to reboot from there then selecting disk utility, hard disk and repair.... Does he mean me to hold down the C key on the alpha keyboard or the ctrl key?
Should I just ask for my money back??? If it is a simple repair do I just literally push the disc in, push the power button and hold down the C button?
That's where I would begin, too, with
    Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.TStatus of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it saysanything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need touse autility like TechTool Pro,Drive Geniusor DiskWarrior
First we need to determine if the issue you are experiencing with the computer is software or hardware based. Once we have gotten things sorted out there should be time enough to make you decision about keeping or returning it.

  • Ipod touch 2nd gen and have ios 4.2.1. apps that will not download, higher ios version needed

I have an ipod touch 2nd gen and have ios 4.2.1. I recently tried to download some apps and received a message that said I need a higher ios version (like 4.3 or higher). I know there used to be apps that worked before but I deleted them. When I tried to re-download them again they say they won't work. Options?
    Thanks

Import the older versions to the iTunes library from your computer or a backup of it, or buy a newer device, or give up.

  • Is there a way to put facebook app back on my ipod touch 2nd gen?

I have an ipod touch 2nd gen, when I first got it I put facebook app on it, I have had to restore it and now it says I need ios 4.3 which isn't available for 2nd gen, is there any other way to put the facebook app back on my ipod?

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.
