Is there anyway i could update my mac to the OS X Mountain Lion at the Apple store?
I'm trying to update my Mac Book Pro to the OS X Mountain Lion but im having a hard time doing so. I keep trying at my school because that is where i get the best wi-fi at. I can usually get to about 2.1 gigs before i have to leave for the day. When i get home and have my mac on standby and try to bring it back the next day, sometimes i have to completely start over.
My main question is that i was wondering if there was a way i could bring my mac book to the apple store and they could update it for me since i have already purchased the update.
It'll have to wait till after my classes this afternoon. I get out 1:45 so they should still be open by then

If the files were in your ~/Library folder then they may still be there. As I said, you can access it by
going to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library". I wouldn't think an upgrade would overwrite anything in ~/Library.
If you have a Time Machine backup you may also be able to use that to retrieve them. -
If I upgrade my leopard computer to snow leopard via an old update disc, can I then upgrade to Mountain Lion for the $20 deal?
Yes, provided your computer meets the system requirements and you have updated Snow Leopard to 10.6.8:
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.

Make Your Own Mountain/Lion Installer
1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/Lion application. After Mountain/Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Mountain/Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
3. Locate the saved Mountain/Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the content of the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
Double-click on the InstallESD.dmg file to mount it on your Desktop.
Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the mounted disc icon from the Desktop into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable installer that you can use without having to re-download Mountain/Lion.
Note: The term Mountain/Lion used above means Lion or Mountain Lion.
As an alternative to the above you can try using Lion DiskMaker 2.0 that automates the process. -

When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting. -

You did not buy Mt Lion from the Mac App Store because it came with the system pre-installed. So it will not show in your purchases area.
No you do not have to buy it again if you want to reinstall it. You use the Recovery system to do that and it can be done over and over again at no charge to you.
You can use either the built in Recovery HD partition that is on the internal hard drive of your Mac or the Online Internet Recovery system that boots the computer from over the internet from the Apple servers.

I cannot download the OS X Mountain Lion for the Mac Mini
I purchased a Mac Mini last week and cannot install the latest version of Mountain Lion. This is preventing me from installing the current version of Aperture. I read on cnet.com that this is an issue. Has Apple provided a fix?
Thanks, MarkThe update was available last week and Apple removed it; I'm sure there was a reason why they did that.
In any case, there are two different builds of 10.8.2 - that is why one version is and will be available since it is for the majority of machines out there. That build is 12C60 (and is running on my 2010 iMac). Only some 2012 machines such as yours require a special build which is the one that was taken off for the moment (before it disappeared, that was build 12C3006).
So, try to be patient; hopefully they're working on it and the update will be available asap. -
Do I have to buy the OS X Mountain Lion in order to update my software, or i can update my software without having to but that app in the app store in my mac? Since the directions says: 1)Click on "About this mac" 2)Click on Software Updates 3)Download OS X Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store.
So Im scared that I update my software and then it says that I have to have to download the OS X Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store in order to finish my update.

I Recently updated my mac book pro to sox mountain lion v10.8 and appear to have lost my email edit button which allowed me mark multiple emails then delete those marked en masse. I now have to delete individually. Can any one advise how to correct this please. Thanks.

If you have Intego VirusBarrier X6 installed
1. Open /Applications/VirusBarrier X6.
2. Click on the "Surf" button.
3. Click on the "Ad Banner Filter" tab.
4. Click "OFF" next to "Banner advertisement filter".
5. Start the computer in Safe Boot, then restart the computer into normal mode.
If don't not have Intego Virus Barrier installed
1. Verify that the date and time is correct on the computer.
2. Safe Boot once, then restart normally, then try downloading again.
3. Try with a different user account if the issue persists
If the issue persists
Install Lion onto an empty partition (internal or external).
Note: You can Use Disk Utility to live partition the internal drive and create a second partition large enough to install Lion.
Start from the clean installation of Lion.
Download Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store. Note that the original startup disk can be set as the destination for Mountain Lion during the installation process. -

Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go then move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store and try downloading Mountain Lion. -
Can't access Color Management options for HP 6700 under Mac OS 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion)
Hello.
I've got the HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One and I can't find any way to access Color Management options.
The printer is attached (Wi-Fi) to my iMac running Mac OS 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion).
I want to correct a magenta cast to photographs that I've printed. I've had the magenta-cast problem under Lightroom and using Preview to print the photographs, so now I want to work with color profiles in Photoshop Elements.
Photoshop Elements recommends that I "disable color management in the printer preferences dialog".
However, I'm not able to find color management preferences for the 6700 in any of the settings under Mountain Lion:
Not under (Apple) > System Preferences > Print & Scan.
Not under (HP Utility) > Open Embedded Web Server.
Not under (HP Utility) > Printer Settings.
Not under Preview's print dialog.
Nor can I find any clear direction in the online help (at HP or elsewhere) that I've read so far.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Still, I am (at this point) able to control color from Photoshop Elements, so that's good enough to proceed.

If it's a Core Duo Mac, no.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, phone the online Apple Store and order a Mac OS X DVD, and if the computer can't run 10.8, a download code for 10.7.

my mac space was full, and i noticed that i had 10,000 images, so i deleted all of my images and emptied the trash, now i they don't appear on iphoto or anywhere, is there anyway i could get all of those images back so i can then store them in a device?
yes, its the macbook air and mac OS X 10.7.4, not sure how that goes, about the time machine and time capsule, i only started using it today, when they were already deleted, also read at the support and help of iphoto, that if you delete your images from the picture folder that the images will be corrupted permanently, does this mean there there is no actual way of getting them back?
