Is there anyway to block text messaging to my iMessage.

I don't have texting added to my provider contract and need to prevent some folks from texting when they don't have an iPhone. Otherwise I get charge for just receiving message solicited or not. Please provide any assistance possible.

This has nothing to do with iMessage.
You need to contact your carrier regarding blocking all SMS/MMS with your line/number. This won't prevent you from exchanging iMessages.

  • Is there anyway to manage my contacts or an app so that I can temporarily block text messages at certain times of the day?

    Hi,
I am wanting to block text messaging that I sometimes receive from clients after hours, and I want to know is there an app like there is for android phones that has lists that you can create so certain people can be sent an auto reply when they send you a message?
I don't want to block the numbers completely just at weekends and/or after hours and I still want to be able to receive phone calls from those numbers as an option.
I am on the Vodafone NZ network
    Thanks

You can Remote Lock his iPad with Find My iPad using a computer at whatever time you like.

Note: The iPad may be disabled if he tries the passcode too many times.

    Hi,
In Messages on the Mac do you have the Preferences > Messages section set to "Save History when Conversations are Closed" ?
This will store all IMs and iMessages in ~/Library/Messages/Archive.
Use the Finder > Go Menu > Go to Folder and type that path into the Dialogue box that appears. (~/Library/Messages/Archive).
They are stored in dated folders so some guessing/trail and error will be needed.
You may find that if this was an iMessage and you  send the person a new message that the whole History with that Contact since you installed Mountain Lion/Started Messages may appear and that it is scrollable the closer you get to the "top" and the top may keep moving until all is on show.

  • 'No Caller ID' - Is there anyway to Block these calls? Via Apps, DND etc?

I have a number that is continuingly harassing me, so I used the iphone block function, which worked perfectly.
However they have now discovered that by hiding there number, the calls will come through, which to all intents and purposes renders Apples 'Block Contact' function next to useless. - They are also still able to leave messages.
The iphone is obvious smart enough to realise the caller is doing so from a withheld number as it displays 'No Caller ID' thus is there anyway of blocking these calls?
Can I set up my Do Not Disturb? to filter this out but allow my contacts to call? If so how? Is there any Apps available? -
Any help prior to me changing my number or reporting to the Police would be appreciated - Thanks

    1. When I type or click on things I get haptic feedback, the phone vibrates. I really like this. Is there a way to do this on iPhone?
No; just the keyclick if enabled.
    2. Android has a window shade that can be pulled down no matter what you are doing in order to get easy access to emails, texts, etc. Is there any way to do something like this?
Put Mail and SMS on the bottom row, then one press of the home button will get you to them. When finished, a double-press of the home button will let you get back to your previous app.

  • On iphone 4 how do i block text messages that are coming from an email account?

There is no way to block text messages.  You may wish to report them to your carrier

  • How to block text messages but not calls from a specific number

I want to block text messages from my father but not his phone calls. Is there a way to do this? I have an iPhone 5, but don't want to upgrade to IOS7 yet.
    Thanks!

You have a fantastic phone, joy3141. I double checked features for the iPhone 5 and confirmed there's not a way to block messages from a specific contact without blocking calls too. Our Call & Message Blocking http://vz.to/MqEgqB is a great way to block unwanted contact from specific numbers, but it would block both calls & messages. If your dad is on your account and you're hoping to block all of his text messages to or from anyone, there is a text message block available at www.vzw.com/serviceblocks you can add to his line.
    Thank you

If you are trying to block text messages from a ten digit number and you have the ten digits number you can add the free Call & Messaging Block to your line. With this block you can block up to 5 numbers.
Call and Message Blocking are free features that assist consumer postpaid customers in blocking unwanted calls and messages from specific numbers on a short-term basis. Customers can manage it themselves and make changes whenever necessary by accessing www.vzw.com/spamcontrols.
The number will remain blocked for 90 days. If you need to continue blocking the number after the 90 days you will need to add the number back to the block list.
If you are trying to block text messages from a short code number you can add the free Premium SMS block to your line via your My Verizon account. You can also reply to the message you are receiving with the word STOP. You will receive a confirmation text advising that you have been unsubscribed from the Premium SMS.
    Thanks
    John
PLEASE consider this a feature request -- we NEED to be able to block SMS by 5- and 6-digit codes, not just 10-digit phone numbers.  Since many of us pay by the message, not being able to block individual "Premium SMS" services is probably something you legally need to provide.

  • Hi, is there a possibility a text message /SMS) that was deleted before a long time to restore

Hi, is there a possibility a text message /SMS) that was deleted before a long time to restore

It can be restored only if you have an iTunes or iCloud backup that contains the message. If not it is gone.

  • IMessage with Blocked Text Messaging

I'm wanting to call AT&T and have them officially block text messages. I'm tired of unwanted messages costing me an additional 3 - 5 dollars a month. If I have text messaging blocked... will iMessage still work, even with my phone number?
    Thanks
    Brad

Yes, but if iMessage is not available at the time - Apple's iMessage servers are temporarily down or having problems at the time and the recipient is not an iDevice user running iOS 5 or later, you won't be able to exchange messages.

  • Block Text Messaging

Just in case some of you, like me, did not subscribe to a text messaging plan, you can call At&t and have them modify your account to block text messaging. If you don't block them, each one your receive or send will cost $0.20. They said that any text messages sent by at&t will still get through and those would be free. I just put the block on my account.

Good advice. I may do that. Once in a while I get an unintended text. And I never use texting. Thanks!

  • I can't receive text messages (sms) when imessage is turned on

I can't receive text messages (sms) when imessage is turned on.
i only receive sms when i turn imessage off, this just started yesterday after i switched from my 5s to the iphone 6.
    this is very frustrating

    Hi shineshinebobo,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you are not receiving sms messages. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.
iOS: Troubleshooting Messages - Apple Support
If you can't send and receive SMS
You will need these to send and receive SMS:
    An iPhone
A strong cellular network connection through a cellular network provider
A domestic SMS plan from your cellular provider (You might need an international messaging plan to send SMS to an international contact. Contact your carrier for more information)
A roaming SMS plan when you use a cellular provider's network that is different from your billing cellular provider's network (Learn more about roaming and contact your carrier for more information.)
To resolve issues sending and receiving SMS, follow these steps
Go to Settings and turn airplane mode off.
Make sure that you have a cellular network signal in the status bar of your iPhone. If there's no signal, learn more about troubleshooting no service.
    Restart your iPhone.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
Remove your SIM card and insert it again.
If you still can't send or receive SMS, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact who's trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Make sure that you're using the area code with the contact's phone number. When sending messages internationally, you also need to use the contact's international code.
If you're using a "Pay as you go" SMS plan, make sure it has enough available balance. Contact your carrier if you're unsure of your SMS plan or the available balance.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact from the Contacts app. Send a new message to the contact.
Back up and restore your iPhone as new.
If your carrier has recently ported your phone number, the porting process might not be complete. Contact your carrier to confirm that the porting process is complete.
Contact your carrier to confirm that you're provisioned for sending SMS and are in an area with cellular coverage.
Contact your carrier to verify there are no blocks or filters placed on your wireless account preventing you from sending SMS.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Mario

  • Is it possible to block texts and only receive imessages when traveling?

I am traveling to Europe, and I was wondering if there is an option to block text messages and only send and receive imessages through wifi?

iMessage over cellular will be increasingly more expensive as that would use Data while roaming.  Regular text messages do not need data. Unless you want to only use Wifi while traveling, in which case yes, set the Phone to Airplane Mode and just turn on Wifi.
By the way,  Turning on Arplane mode will prevent any calls form coming in either. Text messages an calls use the same system which you would be turning off in Airplane mode.
