Is there anyway to get music on iPod nano without OS X 10.4.8?

I recently got my little sister an iPod nano for her birthday, and after opening it, we realized that it needs a later OS X then is on any of our computers. I tried downloading a newer OS, but it said it wouldn't work for this computer. I assume the best computer we have is a PowerPC G4, with OS X 10.3.9.
Is there anyway around this, or am I just F-ed in the A?

If you read this thread,
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1117839&tstart=0
you'll know that 10.4.8 is the minimum requirement for new nano, and so many people having the same situation as yours now.
So if you're not misled by Apple when buying the nano, from some friendly users' suggestion, you will need to buy Tiger or Leopard in order to use it.
Good Luck!

Is there anyway to get songs off an ipod onto a computer, i want to put some songs on a different computer

iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

  • Is there anyway to get music from an old laptop without deleting my new music?

Awhile back my old laptop with all my music on it stopped working. Since then I have gotten a new iphone along with new music on a new laptop. I was wondering is there anyway to get my old music back without messing up anyof my new data?

Restore the backup of your old laptop to your new laptop.
Copy the music off the hardd rive of the old laptop to the hard drive
of the new laptop. If the old laptop is no longer working, data on the
hard drive may be salvageable if it is removed from the old laptop
and put into a hard drive enclosure for connecting to the new laptop.
Download from iTunes if the music was originally purchased under the same
AppleID you are using on the new laptop.
Reimport from CDs is that was the original source of the music.

  • Is there anyway to get music that wasn't purchased on I Tunes from my I phone to my macbook?

I used to own a pc which i had lots of music on it i transfered this music onto my i phone from my pc and i have hundreds of songs on my i phone. a large portion of these songs were not purchsed on i tunes. I hadnt used my pc in about a year since i was in a living situation where i didn't have any internet. after a year of neglect my pc no longer works and i have no way to access these songs other than on my i phone. There has been some new remixes i have downloaded onto my macbook that were not available on i tunes but i need to get them onto my phone. I can't get them onto my phone without synching my phone to the computer and i can't synch my iphone to my computer without deleting the majority of my current music. is there a way to either get the music off my iphone onto my itunes without deleting all my current music or get my new music from my macbook onto my iphone.

No. The Sync process is One Way... From Computer To iDevice.

  • Is there anyway to transfer music from my nano 4th or 5th gen to iPad?

I have an iPad3 & was curious if I can transfer music from my  iPod nano (4 or 5)
    onto it and vice versa

The music but you want to move from one device to another must be stored locally in your iTunes library (and in turn your PC's hard drive) before it can be transferred to the other device.

  • TS1510 Getting Music onto iPod nano

I don't know how to transter the album I purchased at iTunes onto my iPod.  When I go to "devices," the option "sync" is not highlighted.
Where can I find understandable instructions on how to do this, or can anyone tell me what to do??  I thought Apple was user friendly, but so far, I'm very frustrated. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!  Many thanks!

    Yes ipod is a selection.

  • My iphone 4 was stolen and I am replacing it with an iph4S; the computer I sync to is 100 miles away. Is there anyway to get my backed-up material without having to travel to that pc?

I am a student away from home. Is there any way around going home with the replacement iphone to get my backed-up stuff? Or is all stored on that PC's hard drive? If so, can it be downloaded onto a disc and posted to me do you think? I don't rreally understand how it all works :-/

Very hard to do, but not impossible. Depends on what setup you have at home and what data you want
    Windows or Mac?
Calendar, Contacts, Music and content only, or data from apps as well

    Hello cheech07,
The following article contains directions that can help get you back on track with iTunes. I'd recommend picking up at 'Part 5' of the 'External drive' section.

  • HT201269 I have years worth of music on my PC that is about to die.  If I get an iPad is there anyway to get the music from my PC onto the iPad? I have the iCloud but my understanding is only music actually purchased from iTunes lives int he cloud.

I have years worth of music on my PC that is about to die.  If I get an iPad is there anyway to get the music from my PC onto the iPad? I have the iCloud but my understanding is only music actually purchased from iTunes lives int he cloud. I have music that was legally purchased and loaded to my iTunes account from cd's that I no longer own.  I need a new laptop and am deciding between the iPad and the Mac book.  I use the computer for music, photos, and web - nothing else and nothing fancy.  I don't know that there is a way to save my huge music library without saving it to an external hard drive and then loading it to a new one (does the iPad have a port to plug an external hard drive into?)

First, you would need to make a backup of the entire iTunes folder on the PC. You could get music to the iPad if the PC was still functioning, or you would have to move the music to another computer. An iPad is not a laptop, and does not have a port to plug an external drive into. You can sync music to the iPad from the computer, but you are correct, unless you get iTunes Match, you would need a computer to copy the music to and then sync to an iPad.

  • I had my phone reset after it had disabled itself and all my music i had paid for is gone is there anyway of getting them all back without having to pay for them again?

i had my phone reset and without paying for my music i have already got is there anyway of getting all my songs back?

Depending upon what country that you are in (and if you haven't changed countries since buying it and it's still in your store) then you might be able to redownload it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your phone.
You should also be regularly connecting your phone to your computer's iTunes and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases so as to copy all of your downloads over so that you can take a backup copy of them (and preferably taking a backup of the phone if you have any important documents and/or photos on it) - apps and other downloads could also be potentially be removed from a country's store at any time, so you may not be able to redownload them either.

  • HT1689 what happens of someone stole my ipod is there anyway to get another one besides buying a whole new one

What happens of someone stole my ipod is there anyway to get another one besides buying a whole new one? Does anyone know? And why does it have to be connected to the internet for it to locate my apple devices? There should be a locating chip in it already. Better ideas here..

You'll have to buy a new one, unless it is covered in some kind of insurance that you have.
