Is there anyway to go about locking apps?

I am looking for anyway of locking apps (like settings, for example) so that an end user must use a passcode to circumvent the system.
This could be in any enterprise function device, Ipad/Iphone et all.

There is no way to lock individual apps unless the app developer provided some sort of passcode within the app itself. Otherwise, you have only those controls available in the Restrictions settings, or of course the screenlock passcode.
Regards.

(Being sarcastic - its because only the US is big or important enough to warrant volume licensing....)
At this time, until Apple decides to release volume licensing structures outside of the US the only solution would be to use your purchase orders with a company that sells the iTunes Vouchers and redeem those.
However - even then its hard to stay on the right side of the EULA when the terms are all couched in reference to "Personal Use"
I have spoken to some developers in the past about educational discounts, or even support for proxies, and wasn't really impressed with their answers.   But hey - even Adobe has trouble with proxies and consistent approaches - we can't expect independent developers to be able to match the same capabilities...

Is there anyway to take a downloaded app from one computer and put it on another without rebuying it. I have a macbook that I bought the new iMovie and iPhoto on, but I would rather it be on my iMac. So is there anyway I can change it? I thought that if I bought it the apps on my macbook, they would be avaliable on my imac like the mobile devices operate. The macbook has 10.6.8 cause its a older model and I think lion would slow it down. Any help??

Just redownload it on the other computer by logging into the App Store with the same Apple ID you used to purchase it.

Unfortunately, there is not a way now to close all apps at once. You will have to close them one by one.

In technical support, sometimes you have to make educated guesses. I'm sorry that you were offended.
iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

  • I accidently hit the restoe button! Is there anyway i can get my apps and music back? I need help thanks

I accidently hit the restoe button! Is there anyway i can get my apps and music back! I need help thanks:)

Try restoring the iPod from backup. See the restoring section of the following:
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software
If the apps and music are in your itunes library just sync them back to the iPod if necessary.  If the apps and music are not in your iTunes library see the following.  Not all options are available if you are outside the USA and do not have the latest iOS and iTunes.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Is there anyway to put a lock on iphoto?

I want to put a password lock but only on my Iphoto- is there anyway to do this?

I'm not entirely sure I understand what you want to do. Do you want to
Make it so no one can start the iPhoto app without a password?  If so, I imagine you can put the app in an encrypted disk image. The photos can still be accessed in Finder, though.
Make it so no one can access the iPhoto Library?  You could put the library in an encrypted disk image. I don't know if a sparse image or a predefined size would be best.  Maybe someone else can weigh in on that.
Make it so no one can start iPhoto and no one can access the photos?  Put both in an encrypted disk image.
I've not tried these things.  I would have a concern that software update might not find iPhoto if it isn't in the regular place.  Certainly you can put the library in an encrypted image but if someone tries to start up iPhoto they may generate a new blank library and you would have to reconnect to your old library.  An annoyance (especially if you aren't paying attention and you add photos to the wrong library) but not a killer.

  • Is there anyway to kill the email app. without rebooting the phone?

I get emails, but I can't do anything on the screen.  It is totally unresponsive to touch. In addition, my sleep button is broken, so I can't reboot the phone.  (ordered new one, but not getting it for weeks).  Is there anyway to kill the email application without rebooting the phone?

Thanks, I figured as much. Will I be able to save all my apps and content by importing them to my computer and then uploading them back to my iPad after I upgrade the iOS? If so, do you happen to know if a gen 1 iPad running an iOS 4.2.1 is able to upgrade to an iOS 5? I did read online that the iOS 6 is NOT compatible with it so I want to be sure the iOS 5 is before I go through the trouble...

  • HT204266 Is there anyway we can sort the app store by what gen of Ipod/phone/pad?

I've would like to buy apps for my Ipod 3rd gen and find it is a little difficult to do so since most require at least a 4th Gen So I was wondering if there was a way to sort the App store by what gen of Ipod/Iphone/pad you owned which would not let you see any app that was incompatible with your device.

I've never run into Apps in another language in the U.S. iTunes Store. iTunes Stores are specific to each country. Japanese apps aren't sold in the U.S., German in the U.K store. The only apps I have found that are in a different language are those specifically designed for teaching a different language. I've seen podcasts in other languages, mostly Spanish or Japanese but they are a very small minority.
What country's store are you using?

  • Is there anyway to password protect individual apps?

I want to password proptect individual apps so when children use the ipad..phone..etc.. they cannot open thm. I have control apps for the house I do not want changed. i do not want thenm on the internet, mail, photos, etc. Is there such a way?
    Thanks

There are limited restrictions that you can activate in Settings/General/Restrictions, but only with a few Apple apps, not with 3rd party apps.
For a 3rd party app, the restriction would need to be built into the app by the developer.

  • Is there anyway to run Mac OS9 apps on a intel chip?

I have a CD ROM which I need to get running on tiger but the machine is an intel chip, are there any ways to solve this problem.

Sheepshaver works. I have it running on my mac.
You will need a Mac OS 9.04 (or lower version) install CD to get it working.
Install and download instructions are here at the bottom of the page:

  • Is there anyway to get your lock passcode if you have forgotten it without losing data?

Does anyone know a way to get or change the lock passcode for an iPhone 4?  Without restoring the software and losing all data?

If you restore your phone from backup, on the last computer your phone synced with, this will remove the passcode.

  • Locking apps on iPad

I'm wondering if there is a way to lock apps on an iPad? I'm trying to help my sister with this. She's got a 3 year old who likes to "play" with her iPad while she's putting down her young daughter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I'm stressed to the max and didn't want to search through the forum.

There is a real easy way to resolve this and it's not technical in nature at all!
IMHO ...Your sister should simply keep the iPad out of the three year old's hands unless she is with the child while she is using it. Call me old fashioned. A child that young has no business "playing" -your very word - with a $500.00 "toy" without adult supervision. There are just way too many things that could occur in that scenario, and a bunch of them aren't good.
My friend's 2-year-old has a Thomas game on their iPad. He is allowed to play it as a reward for various good behaviors. He is also allowed to play with it unsupervised if need be, though Mom or Dad is usually sitting next to him entertaining his baby brother. He knows better than to be throwing it, banging on it, etc. It's quite impressive.
    To each their own, though!
    For the OP:
Placing the other apps in folders is about the best that can be done. Personally, I would also try speaking with the child & explain to him(or her) that he/she can only use those few apps or he/she can't use the iPad for the next day. The child may not understand, but it would be worth trying.

    No.
Cloud apps are only available via subscription via a Cloud plan.
If you need 3 or more apps then a Cloud Complete membership is the way to go.
