Is there anyway to kill the email app. without rebooting the phone?

I get emails, but I can't do anything on the screen.  It is totally unresponsive to touch. In addition, my sleep button is broken, so I can't reboot the phone.  (ordered new one, but not getting it for weeks).  Is there anyway to kill the email application without rebooting the phone?

Thanks, I figured as much. Will I be able to save all my apps and content by importing them to my computer and then uploading them back to my iPad after I upgrade the iOS? If so, do you happen to know if a gen 1 iPad running an iOS 4.2.1 is able to upgrade to an iOS 5? I did read online that the iOS 6 is NOT compatible with it so I want to be sure the iOS 5 is before I go through the trouble...

An Exchange account is an e-mail account serviced my a Microsft Exchange server... Typically a corporate e-mail account. It used to be possible to configure a free gmail account as an Exchange account, but it is no longer possible to set one up that way.

  • How can I reinstall the iphoto app without buying the new version?

I accidently deleted my iphoto app on my mac mini a while ago.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If your Mac came with discs or you installed iPhoto from the iLife DVD, insert the Mac OS X Install Disc 2 or Applications DVD and install iPhoto performing a custom install. Then, open  > Software Update, and install the latest iPhoto version. If you haven't got the discs that came with your Mac mini, call Apple to get replacement DVDs > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 The other option is to buy the most recent iLife version.
If your Mac didn't come with discs or you purchased iPhoto in the App Store, open the App Store, go to Purchases and download iPhoto. In both cases, iPhoto can be installed free of charge

  • How can i remove the email account without deleting the email account?

    Hi
I have an old email account which I want to remove from Mail, which I know how to do.  However I don't want to delete these emails but rather park them off-site so that if I ever need them again I can easily re-import.  By removing the email account in preferences it says it will delete all the emails etc. from my computer.  Is my only solution to copy the emails to a different location, then delete the account and if needed re-import at a later date?
    Thanks
    David

You can do a couple of things.
You can Export the emails to a .mbox file then Import them in which will create an Import folder in Mail; then delete your email account. Or you can just disable the email account leaving it in your list of accounts only disabled.

  • I am trying to purchase a free app from the apple store. But, It says that i must update my payment information. How can I purchase the free app without doing the process and acredit card?

I don't understand why it is asking for billing details for the purchase of a free app. do not have a credit card handy.

If you didn't setp your iTunes account, from the beginning, without a credit card, you'll have to either add a credit card to your account or redeem an iTunes gift card, regardless of whether the app is free or not.

  • The email app do not open any of displayed messagess.

In attempt to fix the problem I did close the email app and rebooted the device by holding the sleep and home buttons till the apple logo appear. Now the app began to crash after click on the message's title on the left sige barr on the scean. Any solutins exept restoring ftom backup? The iPad is runing "IOS 5.1.1". The email app can not be deleteed, I think.

Is it a particular email that you are trying to select ? If it is then it may be a problem with that email so you could try deleting it by logging into your account on a browser.
And by closing the Mail app do you mean just minimising or closing it via the iPad's Taskbar ? If you haven't tried closing it via the taskbar then you could also try that : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.

Is there anyway to take a downloaded app from one computer and put it on another without rebuying it. I have a macbook that I bought the new iMovie and iPhoto on, but I would rather it be on my iMac. So is there anyway I can change it? I thought that if I bought it the apps on my macbook, they would be avaliable on my imac like the mobile devices operate. The macbook has 10.6.8 cause its a older model and I think lion would slow it down. Any help??

Just redownload it on the other computer by logging into the App Store with the same Apple ID you used to purchase it.

(Being sarcastic - its because only the US is big or important enough to warrant volume licensing....)
At this time, until Apple decides to release volume licensing structures outside of the US the only solution would be to use your purchase orders with a company that sells the iTunes Vouchers and redeem those.
However - even then its hard to stay on the right side of the EULA when the terms are all couched in reference to "Personal Use"
I have spoken to some developers in the past about educational discounts, or even support for proxies, and wasn't really impressed with their answers.   But hey - even Adobe has trouble with proxies and consistent approaches - we can't expect independent developers to be able to match the same capabilities...

In technical support, sometimes you have to make educated guesses. I'm sorry that you were offended.
iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

  • I accidently hit the restoe button! Is there anyway i can get my apps and music back? I need help thanks

I accidently hit the restoe button! Is there anyway i can get my apps and music back! I need help thanks:)

Try restoring the iPod from backup. See the restoring section of the following:
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software
If the apps and music are in your itunes library just sync them back to the iPod if necessary.  If the apps and music are not in your iTunes library see the following.  Not all options are available if you are outside the USA and do not have the latest iOS and iTunes.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Is there anyway I can save emails on my iPad by category somewhere? I have a bigpond email account?

Is there anyway I can save emails on my iPad by category somewhere? I have a bigpond email account?

I don't know what type of mail bigpond is, but if it is Exchange or IMAP, you can create folders on your iPad to keep messages in.  To create a folder, you go to the main page of your mailboxes in the mail app and on the top you see mailboxes, on the bottom you see accounts.  Open the mailbox from the accounts side.  On the right hand upper corner you'll see an edit button.  Touch it and you'll see a new mailbox button on the bottom right hand corner.  Touch new mailbox, type in the name and you'll have a new folder, which you can store messages in.

If you have music that was purchased on different iTunes accounts than the one you use, then you must provide the password, otherwise the tunes are not considered yours.  You can turn off iCloud and just use the usual USB sync method.  But I wonder whether you'll have the same problem?
