Is there anyway to turn thunderbolt display off while is pluged in?

I have a 27 in imac and a 27 thunderbolt display and i want to turn the thunderbolt off, but i dont want to un-plug it. is there anyway to turn it off without unpluging it???

There's no on/off switch so your options are either standby from the setting menu or main menu using the remote.
, or pulling the power cord.
The device must be designed to be turned off by pulling the plug as there's no shutdown sequence but like many it doesn't fell ideal doing that.
Standby is not a full standby mode and there are still background processes:

Consequently power consumptiuon is higher than you might expect.

  • IMac 7,1 turning internal screen off while watching a movie via output (second display), possible?

iMac 7,1 turning internal screen off while watching a movie via output (second display), is it possible with Lion?

Actually, Plex does the best job by placing a black background to the internal iMac screen it's called Blanking.
However that does not turn off the backlit which is very bright on the iMac 24" also the internal screen will draw more power that way.   As you probably know running bootcamp you can turn off the internal screen while watching a movie on the external.  This isn't a hardware limitation, I hope Lion has this feature.

  • Can't turn external speaker off while listening music on iphone4

is there anybody who knows how to turn external speaker off while listening on ipod mode in iphone 4?

I believe apple still use a mechanical switch in the headphone port.
If you are plugging in headphones and it's not autoswitching-clean out the headphone jack with compressed air.
Make sure the headphones are fully inserted.

  • How do I  turn music completely off while using maps

How do I turn the music off while using apps for directions. Every time I use maps to navigate somewhere I get music that comes on automatically anyone know how to turn this off?

Just disabling firewire at the system settings not physically shuts off power to the firewire port. And since you feel by yourself facing a hardware defect, I would recommend taking the computer to a repair center.
Maybe they are able (I'm absolutely not sure about, but sometimes hope dies at last to remove an internal cable and so shut down the firewire ports without replacing any expensive parts.

  • My ipad was stolen in the airport in Madrid Spain.  Is there anyway to turn it off or at least turn off my email?

My ipad was stolen in the Madrid Spain airport.  Is there anyway to have it turned off or at least turn off my e-mail remotly?

If it was a 3G iPad you can have the service disconnected from it by your carrier.
If it was just wifi, there is nothing that you can really do about it.
If you had a passcode lock on it then that would have been helpful if it was set to "10 bad tries and then wipe device".
Sorry to hear that it was stolen.

  • Anyway to turn Now TV off?

    Hi All,
Recently new to Youview. Is there anyway I can turn the Now TV selection off under the ondemand and film section of Youview?
I don't subscribe but wanted mainly BT TV items to be displayed instead? Otherwise I have to wade through lots of films I can't get because I don't subscribe.
    Thanks in advance

Doesn't matter how many people ask for it, it won't happen. Companies won't pay the costs of developing a YouView player app and the fees to join the platform only for their content to them be hidden.

  • Turning Mirror Display Off

Turned Mirror Display on for presentation yesterday to do a presentation on a projector. Now does not give option in Display preferences to turn off. Icons on desktop are moving and changing sizes. How do I turn off. Command F7 does not work. Whi is it not an option to turn off in Display Preferences any more.
    Any info. would help.
    Thanks.

One other thought. The mac detects how many displays you have automatically. You don't have to "turn off" the second display if it's not present.
When you said the icons are moving and changing sizes, Does that mean that when you move the cursor to the dock that the icons get larger as you move across them?
If so, you can turn this off in System Preferences -> Dock. Just uncheck the "magnification" box.

Tha means you have purchased it and it is not installed.

It won't say Uninstall unless it is installed.
You can hide it in your purcahsed items but you can't hide it in the iTunes store.
You can't make the cloud go away in the iTunes store.
