  • How do I revert to Snow Leopard from Mountain Lion? I do not have the setup disk that came with my MacBook but I do have the Snow Leopard software.

I upgraded to Mountain Lion and very much regret this move.  I cannot use Parallels or Bootcamp for Windows XP which I need for some of my 'older' accessories.  How do I revert from Mountain Lion back to Snow Leopard?  I have the Snow Leopard software but I do not have the original setup software disk that came with the MacBook (leant to a friend and never seen again).

If you do revert to Snow Leopard, be aware of this "feature" I used with my 2009 MacBook Pro:
When it had the original OS (Leopard, I believe) I set up Bootcamp with Windows XP.  I also installed Parallels and use the Bootcamp partition for Windows XP within Parallels.
I then upgraded to Snow Leopard and all was fine.
I then upgraded to Lion and still my Bootcamp partition works for Windows XP and also for Parallels.
I have not upgraded to Mountain Lion so I cannot speak to whether or not the Bootcamp paritition of Windows XP will continue to work.  If you do and it works, LET US KNOW!

  • HT201364 I have added the Snow Leopard software, so how do I download OS X

From my understanding, Adding the Snow Leopard Software would enable my computer to download OS X.  Where/how can I do that?

First, you need to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 using Software Update.
Once that is done, you will have the App Store in the Apple Menu. Go there and download Mavericks.
However, you might want to check to see if your Mac is capable of running Mavericks. If it didn't have Snow Leopard already installed, it has a slim chance of being capable of running Mavericks.
In the Apple Menu, select About this Mac, then click More Info button.
In the Hardware section, look for "Model Identifier"
Yours needs to be at least MacbookPro3,1 or higher.

  • If I have the Snow Leopard OS do I need to update the Lion OS before the new Mountain Lion OS?

If I have the Snow Leopard OS do I need to update the Lion OS before the new Mountain Lion OS?

Apple has not detailed Mountain Lion's requirements or how it will be made available, and probably won't until much closer to release. So we cannot answer your question at this time. Keep an eye on Apple's web pages for Mountain Lion as well as the many Apple-related news web sites and I'm sure you'll see the announcement when it comes.
    Regards.

  • Where can I buy the snow leopard software disc?

I'm trying to upgrade my MacBook Pro but in order to do that I have to install the Snow Leopard version. Now when I asked a worker at the Apple store where do I get this from, he told me to look online for the installation disc.. I can't find a the installatio disc. Please help me!

    Not stupid.
5-license disk can be installed (and stay installed) on 5 separate systems at the same time.
1-user disk can be used to upgrade for the purpose of going to Lion or ML, then used to upgrade another because it is no longer actually installed on the system that is Lion or ML.
If you think you will ever need installed on two systems at the same time, remeber that Apple will eventually stop selling it for $19/$29 and your only source will be Amazon at $100+.
I bought a spare 5-user disk for the very "$100+ through Amazon" reason.

  • Install CD says my computer can't install Snow Leopard, yet it seems to meet all the requirements

Hi, I have already checked to see that I meet the requirements in the instructions (and answers on similar questions). I am using a CD direct from Apple of the software (a copy of a 10.6.4 CD). Yet the install CD says it can't be installed on my computer and simply stops, its very vague about why.

    >(a copy of a 10.6.4 CD). That's your problem.  You got the wrong CD.  Any system with 10.5.8 will not be able to use a 10.6.4 CD.  The only 10.6 installer that will work with a 10.5.8 system (assuming it is Intel and 1 GB of RAM as G5 and G4 and G3 won't work), is the one with this label*
Anything with a different looking label is system specific only for the vintage Mac stated on the label that was released with the 10.6.x release stated on the label, or anythign with Upgrade, Dropin  will not work on a 10.5.8 machine, unless that 10.5.8 machine was released during the 3 weeks prior to the August 28, 2009 release of Snow Leopard.  OEM discs will not work unless Apple offered it directly to you stating it would for your Mac model and vintage Mac.
Contact AppleCare if you received the wrong disc from them.
Contact the person who gave you the disc and tell them it is the wrong disc otherwise.
You can buy a 10.6.3 retail disc with the above image if you have the system requirements for Snow Leopard from the Apple Store for $29.95.

  • Is it possible to use the snow leopard install disk for bootcamp setup?

I'm going to be installing a windows 7 partition through bootcamp on my macbook, but I can no longer find the two original install disks that it came with. So my question was whether or not its possible to go through the bootcamp process with the snow leopard install disk?

Do you mean a "Retail OSX Snow Leopard Install DVD for USD 29" ?
If so, then yes. use it.
Sounds to me like the Original Install Discs you refer to are OSX 10.5 Leopard ones, right ?
These won't work with Windows 7 since Windows 7 requires OSX Snow Leopard DVD at minimum for the Driver Installation and BootCamp Assistant version 3.x as well, which is also only avaiable in OSX Snow Leopard.

  • Is there any network out there that you can buy a data sim card only for a tablet that you can payg and not a mothly contract

I use my iPad at home with wifi for about 98%of the time the other 2% I need to use 3G sim which is not a problem the problem is I cannot find any network that I can buy a payg SIM card unless I renew every 30 days that's £120 a year to use my iPad the amount of times I use it without wifi is so small 2 gb would last me a full year as anybody got any suggestions?

A G5 can run the OS it shipped with up to Leopard if your CPU is big enough (should be being a G5).
    For now, You could try this;
Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode
What is Safe BootSafe Mode takes awhile to start, so patience is a virtue here! It may get you going.
Also, it would help to know what your G5 is doing exactly .

  • When I Buy Something, all songs disapear except for ones bought in the store

I also bought an audiobook. The Money was taken from my account and the book was never downlaoded. Is there any way to retrieve that?
When i got a new iPod...a nano. i accidently didnt choose the option to have more than one iPod sync to this computer. So now both of my iPods are messed up.

How long since the purchase? It can take a while for the card to be debited.

  • How can I see up AppStore/Software Updates for multiple computers using the same account?

I have several computers in my household which all use the same App Store account for purchases & software updates. How can I view all those installs while not being in front of all computers?
Recently an iMac crashed from a software update. I want to see what installed & crashed it.

Launch the Mac app store on the computer you want to update.
To use your Apple ID at the Mac App Store
Choose Store > Sign In from the App Store menu.
Enter your Apple ID and password, then click Sign In.
    Then redownload Lion.

  • Is there anywhere I can buy a NEW iphone 4 (or 4S) 32g??

I've been burned once already by a third party selling me a used, out of warranty iPhone instead of the promised new phone.  Amazon refunded my money, but I can't find anywhere I trust to buy a new one.  The Apple Store won't sell me anything but the 8g, which is so little memory as to be useless.
I want to spend less than $750 (iPhone 5 retail) for a phone.

You did not specify that you wanted an unlocked phone. If you want a locked phone, the answer is maybe. If you want an unlocked phone, the answer is no.

  • Is there anywhere I can download or buy additional imovie themes?

The themes already included in the imovie update are great, but we're trying to do something a little more unique. Is there anywhere we can buy or download more themes? Not trying to build a theme out, just want to see what else is out there. Thanks!!

No, there are no 3rd party addons available. However, on most themes there's a background menu button in the lower toolbar where you can choose a different color or add your own photo. That leaves the door open to create your own page background with any texture and color you'd like. Or even an wallpaper type of background, i.e. a reoccurring pattern throughout.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Anywhere I can buy FCP on its own without going crazy on FCS???

Is there anywhere I can buy FCP 6 alone instead of in the huge, massively expensive FCS 2? I don't even really need all that other software either...

As I recall, when it was available by itself, FCP sold for about $1199.00. So the cost is pretty much the same but you now get all those other applications for virtually nothing. Also consider that you don't have to install all the other apps if you choose not to do so.

  • Help IS THERE ANYWHERE I can download iTunes 10?

Is there anywhere I can still download version 10 of itunes for my OLD powerbook G4?

There was never a version of iTunes 10 that would run under Mac OS X 10.4. iTunes 9.2.1 was the last version 10.4 would run. You can probably run Mac OS X 10.5 on your Mac, though. 10.5 doesn't require an Intel processor, and would allow you to run iTunes 10. System requirements here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3759
Apple no longer sells 10.5 officially, so you'll need to look to private sellers. Make sure you get a retail (black label) copy, not the system disk from another model of Mac (grey label).
    Regards.
