Is there database in Ora9iAS?

Hello,
I'm now really confuse, whether when i installed the Oracle9iAS Infrastucture. Did this package come with the database?? I did put in the instance name, but i didn't specify the system password for the database. May i know whether there is a database running behind the Ora9iAS?? Besides, may i know whether what is the default password and id to access into this database??
I just found out that there is iSQL*Plus with this Ora9iAS. But i do not know what id, password and connection string for this?? Please help me on all this doubt.

The database name is IASDB(default) and can not be changed, version 9.0.1.3. All datafiles are located under your $infrastructure_home/oradata/iasdb
use default password for
sys -change_on_install, and
system -manager

I really want to know if the only way the websites could be in the folder is because he intentionally saved info stored on those sites and if not, then why are they part of his roaming profile?

hello, i could find no documentation whatsoever on what the ''databases'' folder within the profile or a ''io_temp.sqlite''-file would do in the context of firefox (maybe this was an early version of ''dom storage'' or ''indexeddb'').

So I could build one web template, and instead of the tedious job of going to each link and putting in someone elses personal info, URL's, emails the data base fields would be in place to hold the url for the specific user name, and the web site could be changed instantly to allow the user the same template html website.

Unable to load database information

Hello All,
I am facing an issue while scheduling a crystal report from CMC or Infoview. When I schedule the report It throws an error saying "Unable to Load Database information". The report's data source connection is oracle database.
I have provided the database credentials,format and destination in CMC/Infoview. The BOE environment is as follows:
OS: Windows 2008 server 64 bit
BOE: Business Objects 3.1sp3, Crystal reports 2008 sp3
Oracle Client: oracle 11g 32 bit client
When I change the connection from oracle server to ODBC connection the report works fine. Is there any steps I am missing or is there database drivers connectivity issue because BOE and oracle are 32 bit client and OS is 64 bit client.
All the suggestion/answers are appreciated.

First thought is that the application cannot access the DSN or database driver that the report was designed on, this could be permissions.
I tried to ping my database and was unable to find the host. I was under the assumption it was using TNSNames which is able to resolve.
How can I validate the permissions?
As I said I'm a little lost here. Apologies if I ask stupid questions.

How to get the List of Database Objects (Table/View) for a given APEX Page.

*1.* I want a report which can give me the list of all the Pages1,2,3,....
I am using the following query to acheive this.... THIS IS FINE..

and a.application_id = b.application_id*2. Now, I want for each individual page*, the list all the database objects (tables/views), which that page is using.
I am using ALL_DEPENDENCIES , but I am not getting the result.
So, want to know if there any view/table, where I can get the Application Pages & there database object list...

The view APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_DB_ITEMS will only give me the table name related to any Page Items defined to that page..It will not give me all the database objects..
suppose we have a Page, having a report based on multiple tables and there is no Page items defined on that page, we will not have any value in this ....DB_ITEMS table. same thing if we have define some PL|SQL(using some table/view) in a Process, that will not be populated in .....DB_ITEMS table. I want some thing like all the database objects (table/views/function/procedure/.....) for a particular Page ID.

Performance reports and measures for Online Trading Customer's databases

We have a client from online trading commodity domain. there databases are running in healthy stat.
We on daily basis share with them AWR report of time span 9:30AM to 10:30AM (peak trading hours).
can you suggest what all recommendadtions we can include in this AWR report or how we can study on daily basis this AWR report extracted to mention recommendation to customer.
apart from this what other performance reports we can share with customer which will make cilent view their database stat in terms of performace tunning and all.
We can share daily database checks and all but I am trying to have some good performance end reports which can be extract to share with client??
What performace reports you are sharing or can suggest in this regards??

Itunes cant find track/album info on GRACENOTE DATABASE?

Whenever I import songs the tracks end up as 'track 1, track2' etc. I have itunes 10.6 installed and all correct settings checked. Does anyone know how to solve this? Thanks

Last time I checked, itunes got its information from gracenote - cddb. They would be the ones to talk to about the quality of there database, and any changes to be made.

Changing database Profile to EBS Schemas

Hi,
SOX and some other regulations force using strong passwords in EBS .
Currently all owr EBS Schemas are assigned to the DEFAULT database profile.
(select profile from dba_users where profile='DEFAULT')
I would like to know if there are any restrictions regarding changing EBS default database profile to more "secure" profile that include strong password verification , number of allowed
filed login attempts before the user will be locked and etc.

The document explain how to change there password and not mention if there are restriction related to changing there DATABASE PROFILE ,
from DEFAULT to a more secure profile as i explained above. If you can change the password then it should be OK to create a new secure profile for those users. Just make sure not to set the profile options to lock the users in case of incorrect number of passwords entered, otherwise you would have issues.

One way to do this would be to use the Get URL Document step to request an XML file from a web server.
Upon receiving this request the web server would then retrieve the required data via SQL (fairly easy to do using ASP.NET and IIS), format it in an XML page and return it to your script.
The script would then use Get XML Document Data steps to parse the XML file for the required data.
The organisations that operate the databases with which you want to integrate may have some concerns about the security of this though as the data will not be encrypted in transit.

My question is quite critical which is as below :-
My system is a 3-tier system which is made in Visual Basic as shown below . The first tier is User Interface.the second tier is the Active-X Dll in which I make use of ADO to access the databases. The third tier is the database.
My system is currently being developed in SQL-SERVER. It is also using stored procedures to access data in the database.there are also another objects like tables views,indexes etc.. Now If I want my system such that it should be database independent. Rather the database is Oracle,Sqlserver or MS-Access my system should work Regardless of database.
How to do? Is it Possible?
What care should I take?
What are the difficulties?
What are the differences between all this there databases?
How to migrate?
Is there any such tool available?
Are there any related resources on net?

Updation problems in MSAccess

i have a problem
My client needs a front end application for the database application. they are using MS Access as there database. the problem is in the the table headers have namespaces so as
table name :Training
field name : date of joining
field name :Trainers name
and so on.........
I am facing problem updating the table as it gives "invalitd update statement"
The problem as far as i could see is the name spaces
How do i check the problem
I could not find the solution any were else so please help

1.Recheck the syntax -
It should be :
UPDATE Table_name SET column1=value1,col2=val2
WHERE ...
2.If u r sure about the SQL statement,
try to create a dummy table whose columns don't have any spaces(U can use underscores)
Run the program to ascertain your assumption.

SAP Freeze for 30 minutes

Dear gurus,
In our SAP production environment, SAP frequently hold for some minutes, ranging from 10 to 30 minutes.
When that happens, no users can logged onto SAP System (Waiting for system response in SAP Logon).
When that happen, I can't do anything except restarting SAP Server.
We rarely do an update record nor an intensive report program when that happened,
Where can I check the initial problem for this?
For information,
Our system running on AIX 5.2 Oracle 10.0.2.0 with 16GB Memory (SAP ECC 6.0).
The Detail:
Buffer size:
ABAP Programs: 900000 KB
Nametab: 89996 KB
Generic key table: 97657 KB
Single key table: 90000 KB
CUA information: 10000 KB

No of Work Process:

Even when the users is only 5, the memory could drop to only 200MB in the server (as in ST06).
I do not know what consume the high memory.
Also, when I go to DB02, an see the space, it shows blank record.
That is, the used space, total DB size, is 0. I have checked that SAPOSCOL is running.

There could be more than one issues in your system.

When this happens, check ORAARCH directory under SAPDATA_HOME. If this directory is full, database goes to dormat state and until and unless this directory is free ( free space is there) database wont allow any user to get it.
What is the frequency of your archive log job? Check https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/391

Could you find any reason of this high memory consumption from OS level, you can check the PID from there and then from sm50 you can check which program is using maximum meory. Also check from ST02 what is the number of swapping for important buffers , like program buffer. What are the values of "Commit charge limit Kb" and "Commit charge free Kb" from ST06 when you see this memory bottleneck?

Run RSORAT0D report and then check again. Clickking Rfresh on the DB02 first screen will run this report for you or else you can run it from SA38 or se38 directly

How to change character set to arabic in Develper suite forms 10g

Dear all,
Our company wants migrate oracle forms 4.5/6i applications to Oracle developer suite 10g version.
They also want there database to upgrade from 9i to 10g.
They gave me test machine, on which windows xp is installed and i did the following:-
1,Installed Oracle 10g Xe edition database.
2,Installed Oracle 10g Devloper suite(oracle forms, Oracle reports).
3, Configured the connection of Oracle Developer suite 10g to Oracle Database 10g.
4, Loaded Data into the 10g database. *( they are few columns like DEPARTMENT_NAME_ARB, FUNCTION_NAME_ARB which is supposed to show in arabic fonts, as it is in arabic in 9i database, now they are showing in some special characters)*
What I would like to know is: Is there a way through which i can set characterset?
Is it in the database in which i have to make character set change?
Is it in the oracle developer suite application in which i have to make character set change?
Is it in the registry in which i have to make changes?

I relgiously followed all the instructions given to me by all of you. Like u could see in my previous posts
Luckiily, i am able to insert one row at a time manaually iin arabic and in english by pressing (ALT+SHIFT).
When i create datablocks in forms builder, i do see output in arabic.
When i create report in group style i do see ouptput in arabic.
i have thousands of rows(in GB's) which needs to be inserted in this new database 10g XE edition (downloaded from oracle)
I have attempted multiple times insertion of data by just running script, or simply copying numerous insert statement rows from notepad to sql*plus, unluckily it alwayz retreived the special charachters rather than retreiving arabic characters.
Is there a way to insert data in this new oracle 10g xe editon database via oracle developer suite 10g forms/reports?
Do I have to use inbuilt data load/unload utilities in oracle 10g xe edition?
Do I have to install sql*loader separately to load the data?
Do you think TOAD can help in this?
Could you please tell me how to add snap shots in this post?(user10947262)

Certainly Christian, i dont want to screw my oracle 10g database xe edition software and installation, and i agree and hope with this that creating new database and doing exporting and importing will work for me. (XE edition doesnt give option to create new database, i need to install 10g release2 media pack from edelivery)
However, with the above informatiion provided, Is it really needed?

Performance of WEB enabling ( Converting to Oracle 8i and Forms 6i)

We are working on a project to convert a forms 4.5 and Oracle 7.3.4 application to a web based app ( Oracle 8i and Forms 6i). I want to know if there will be a performance hit (improve or decrease) as a result of this.

Believe it or not we actually have people who are running FASTER on the Web - How can that be!!! - well the reason is that the have uses on slow links - when running client server there database access is across these links and since they had database intensive application they found it could be slow. On the web the data trasfer between the app server and the database was on a fast link and the client (who are still on the slow link) are getting only screen draw information which is alot less than the database traffic.
