Is there different software installed on new iMac from Bestbuy vs Apple store? I purchased new 27 iMac and cannot find NUMBERS, PAGES or KEYNOTE
Purchased new 27 iMac and cannot seem to find PAGES, NUMBERS or KEYNOTE programs. I installed OS X MAV and still cannot find them. In the app store they cost money.
They need to be downloaded; you can use this in case they do not show up on your Purchases list:

After a recent update, I now cannot open PDFs that have typically opened in a new tab or window? Have searched preferences for a fix but no dice... help?Try this. Open one of your files. The window that contains your picture is named at the top. Command click on the name and you'll see the entire path starting with its name and then moving to the folder, the folder it is contained in, etc all the way to down to the hard drive volume name. This should tell you where to find the folder.

I purchased Lightroom from B&H Photo a few months ago. I did not instal the software, because I was purchasing a new computer in the near future. I am now purchasing that computer, but cannot find the software. B&H suggested that I contact you directly to help me. I have the receipt, and you can look to see that the program was never used. It would be great if you could just send me another copy of the software. Thank you very much.

The receipt is only of use to B&H. Adobe will have no record of it.
If you quote an Adobe Lightroom serial number then Adobe can confirm if that serial number has ever been registered. That step should not be required at this stage though. Just install the software. -

My Mac crashed last Friday. First timeIs there any way to get my photos FROM my iPod Touch back into my new hard drive. The iTunes sync only goes one way from the computer to the iPod.
It syncs the photos taken with the iPod (really an old iPhone 3G without phone service) but not the folders which I synced from the old hard drive to the iPod over the past year.thank you for the tip.
Yes, my computer was backed up. for reasons way too complicated to go into here, these particular folders were not part of the backup.

I had an iPod touch, but it was stolen or lost. Now that I have a new one with a new Apple ID, is there someway I can access and download all my old photos and data from my old Apple ID to my new device? I still remember my old Apple ID and password.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Since I uploaded the new OS X Mavericks the App Store, Messages, Notes, Calendar, Maps and Preview will not launch/open. In Finder cannot find my files. Most crucially cannot upgrade OS X Mavericks software. I had two apple ID's, the old one not used
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2. -
I want to upgrade the memory for my iMac, but there is no memory available for any of the iMac models on the Apple store. I got an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 2.4 GHz. I purchased it over 5 years ago, and the tecnical support expired. Can anybody tell me where I can purchase additional memory?

Are there ways to only upload certain photos from my iphoto backup? It is really big and I don't want all the photos on my new computer.
There is a way to find and recover individual photos from a Time Machine backup.
1 - dowload and launch Find Any File.
2 - select the Time Machine hard drive in FAF's Find Items menu.
3 - enter the full file name of the photo you want to recover into FAF and use the Find button.
NOTE: it will take a while for FAF to retrieve and display the results of the search due to the nature of how TM makes its backups. 30 seconds or so is normal.
4 - select the file in the Masters folder and use the Space bar to verify it's the one you want with Quickview.
5 - drag the file from the FAF window to your Desktop.
6 - repeat for each photo you need to restore.

I had a problem with imac screen going black. apple store diagnosed prob with video card which they replaced. Brought it home, turned it on (have done this 4 times) it starts up, wheel turns, there is a long bar at bottom which fills up, then it turns off
Apple guarantees their work, take it back.

I bought a brand new Mac 27" desktop that came loaded with Adobe CS6. Everything worked like a charm until the hard drive, 1Tb, developed a bad sector and the Apple Store reinstalled a new one as I had extended warranty with them. They recycled the drive immediately (like a fool I didn't ask for it back to get the data off it.) But luckily I have all my data on CrashPlan. I downloaded it and it worked great except I downloaded it to the desktop and not the original location so it got squirrely. I also have an external 1.5Tb drive that I wanted to make bootable so I installed Mavericks 10.9.3 . I then went ahead and installed it on the newly installed drive too.
I think that because I have a new drive Adobe thinks I have a news computer. I bought the 27" Mac brand new from Ebay and it came loaded with software, including CS6. I have a serial number for CS6 but Adobe said it wasn't valid. (I have owned CS2, CS4 and now CS6 which came preloaded onto the Mac by the seller who told me that the software was registered to the Mac???
I am going to re-download the backup but this time to the original location (I still don't think it will work with Adobe. What can I do about this?

i just upgraded my iphone 3gs to ios 6 not sure if it updated but now when i turn on my phone it says automatically that i need to connect it to itunes using the USB port but when i connect it it comes up as new hardware and cannot find a program/software for my device even though i have the latest itunes on my computer. i have tried reinstalling itunes but it still cannot find my phone and now i cannot use my phone as it is stuck on the sync to itunes screen
