Iphone will sync/manage music with one and only one computer at a time. If you sync/manage music with another computer, then it will first erase the current music.

The steps for getting music onto your iPod is outlined in the following Knowledge Base article:
Sync your iPhone, iPad and iPod with iTunes using USB - Apple Support
Set up syncing
Open iTunes. Make sure that you have the latest version.
Connect the iOS device to your computer using the included USB cable.
Locate your connected iOS device.
After clicking on your iOS device, tabs will appear on the left side of the iTunes window under Settings.

You can turn on syncing for Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Books, Tones, Photos, and Info. To turn on syncing, click the content type from the list under settings, then click the box next to Sync [content type]. If there's a check in the box already, syncing is turned on for that tab. To turn off syncing, uncheck the box.
Click the Sync button in the lower-right corner of the screen to sync your content. Only the information in the content list you've enabled syncing for will sync to your computer. If you made any changes to any of the settings, you will first need to click the Apple button.

Does music show in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your phone and the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes for redownloading ? Whether music will show there will depend upon what country that you are in - and even if music does show it will also depend upon whether it's still in your country's store.

In iTunes on your PC go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced
This will tell you the location of your iTunes Media Folder on your PC.
Now go to that location using Windows Explorer and click on the Music folder within it. All your music should be found there

You cannot do it using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store). However, if you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get links for third-party methods and utilities that can transfer song files from iPod to computer.
NOTE: Songs previously purchased from the iTunes Store can also be re-downloaded on the Purchased screen at no cost.

I know it is possible to export tunes to a CD from iTunes. However the way that I do it uses the same amount of space on the CD as the original tracks took up? Is there a way of compressing the files into another format so that I can save more than one album per CD (better for travelling in the car!).

First, you must make sure that your car cd player can play MP3 CD. Then open iTune, go to preference "advance" -> "burning" click Disc format as MP3 CD istead of Audio CD

not sure what to add other than to repeat myself. ive lost ability to play music from my iTunes library on my computer. Everything is there but i get an error message that says '"The song (name) could not be found. Would you like to locate it? Then it gives me the option to locate or cancel. i can't do that for 3800 songs!! i have all my music in separate folders by album and all individual selections in an external hard drive. i can play from there but thats clicking on one number at a time. i lost my capability in the process of Microsoft correcting a problem with my outlook program. This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

Getting Apple TV to play music from iTunes using Remote App on iPad

Hi
I play my iTunes Library music on my Apple TV. I use the Remoe App to select songs etc.
However, if I stream (push) from iTunes to Apple TV the subwoofer does not play (this is a well know problem). However, if I pull the music from the Apple TV (by selecting computers) it plays as it should.
When using the Remote App on my iPhone 4S I simply select the Apple TV 3, then select "More" - "Computers" and then the library. Select the music and all is good. When I select More I get all sorts of different options (Albums, Composers, Computers and six others).
However, when I do the exact same thing on the Remote App on my iPad 2 I only get the options of Songs, Playlists, Genres and Composers - but not Computers.
It doesn't seem to make much sense, does it?
I can of course select the iTunes library on the iPad and stream to the Apple TV but then I get the subwoofer problem.
Any solutions?

Press the Music In ... to the left of "Albums" at the bottom of the Remote App and select a different library to show in the app. That seems to do it.

No - the iPhone does not support disk mode as with an iPod, which is required for this.
Why do you want to have iTunes purchased content on different computers - especially on a computer at work that you do not own? How do you plan on managing your backup for iTunes purchased content on multiple computers?
You can purchase/download music with your iPhone, the same for 3rd party apps, and now video.
IMO, it is best to keep all iTunes purchased content in one location on a single computer for a number of reasons with maintaining a backup being an important one, and just keeping up iTunes purchased content.
