Is there GroupWise to Exchange 2007 gateway support yet?

I saw earlier posts that indicated that there may be Exchange 2007 support
in the future. Has anyone got an update? Is it out, is it in beta, any
time frame for release?

    Hi All,
I have not found any TechNet Article which states about the Windows Server 2012 R2 Active Directory domain controller operating system support with Exchange 2007 RTM, can some one please let me know that does Exchange 2007 RTM supports Windows Server 2012

There are several likely reasons for this.  The most significant is that Exchange 2007 RTM is no longer supported (outside ot extended support, which is not going to include adding support for new operating systems):

    Hello,
I am planning to upgrade to AD windows 2012 R2 from 2008 in 2003 on funtional level for domain and forrest, my question is, is 2007 exchange (Version build: 08.03.0245.001) supported on 2012 R2 domain environment on 2008 funtional level?
I am planning to upgrade exchange later in december to exchange 2013 but not now.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
At present, there is no official article to verify whether exchange 2007 is supported on windows server 2012 R2 domain.
But I agree with damird's suggestion.
And you don't install exchange 2007 on windows server 2012 r2.

  • Exchange 2007 SP3 Search Problems

I reset all the search indices on my mailbox databases. Event viewer has told me the crawl is complete and everything checks out when I do “test-exchangeSearch”
from PS. However, the index folders are considerably smaller than the original ones, (1.3GB vs 7GB) and only about 1% of database size. Multiple users can prove to me that searches are incomplete and not returning reliable results when just doing basic folder
    searches from Outlook 2007. help!

After speaking with a senior MS Engineer, if you already have SP3 applied and tried to reinstall the search as I outlined above, you have corrupt your Exchange install and the ONLY option is to rebuild the box. After reinstalling Windows and Exchange, the
proper procedure to get search working perfectly is outlined below:
    4. If you haven’t already,
upgrade toExchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3.
Exchange 2007 SP3 includes several major Search-related fixes and upgrades MSSearch 3.0 to MSSearch 3.1.  This is a highly significant
    upgrade.
    5. Update to the latest available Rollup Update.
There are some very significant search fixes in the Rollup Updates for Exchange 2007 SP3. Some of these fixes are absolutely essential to install.
For example, Exchange 2007 SP3 Rollup Update 2 includes a fix that allows Exchange server to index emails even when the attachment cannot
be parsed – this is the number one call generator for Exchange 2007 search support cases.
To restate, upgrade to the very latest available Exchange 2007 SP3 rollup update, as there are many more search fixes available in the latest
    rollup updates.
    6.
Install IFilters and register them – follow ALL the steps below.
Install Filter Pack 1.0, which allows Exchange 2007 to index Office 2007 documents:
2007 Office System Converter: Microsoft Filter Pack
    http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=20109
    7. Install the hotfix which addresses a known issue when search crawls a .vsd file.

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;960166
    8.
Register the Filter Pack 1.0 IFilters. This is a manual process with Exchange 2007 but we have created a script to automate the process.:

    11. Disable signature verification for the Exchange 2007 search services by putting 127.0.0.1 crl.microsoft.com in the HOSTS file.
    Certificate Revocation List
When the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 loads a managed assembly, the managed assembly calls the CryptoAPI function to verify the Authenticode signature
on the assembly files. The CryptoAPI function checks a Certificate Revocation List
(CRL) that is available at http://crl.microsoft.com
. This action requires an Internet connection.
    The
    Microsoft Search Indexer service (Microsoft.Exchange.Search.ExSearch.exe)
is a managed assembly that is loaded by Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. After installing Exchange 2007 SP3, if the Exchange server or DNS cannot resolve
    http://crl.microsoft.com for any reason
the outgoing HTTP requests may be dropped and an error message is not returned. This delay causes the CRL to time out and cached CRLs will expire. This affects the Microsoft Search Indexer service in such a way that any new email fails to be indexed.
Instructions to Modify HOSTS file on the Exchange 2007 Server
    Add the following:
    127.0.0.1 crl.microsoft.com – here are the instructions:
    a. Go Start – Programs and choose Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator.
    b. Within the Command Prompt, change to this directory (the drive will be the one where you installed the OS):
    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
    c. Add the following entry to the HOSTS file:
    127.0.0.1 crl.microsoft.com
    d. Save the HOSTS file.
    13.
    Rebuild Indexes
    using ResetSearchIndexes.ps1
How to Rebuild the Full-Text Index Catalog
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa995966(EXCHG.80).aspx
    a. Go Start – Programs and choose Exchange Management Shell and choose Run as Administrator.
    b. Change to this directory (the drive will be the one where you installed Exchange 2007):
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Scripts
    c. It is suggested that you rebuild indexes for one or a few databases at a time – use the following command to rebuild the indexes for 1
    databases called dbname1 and dbname2:
    .\ResetSearchIndex.ps1 –force dbname1 dbname2
    d. It is suggested not to run the following command unless you have 1 Exchange 2007 server only in your environment because it will cause
all databases on all Exchange 2007 (and all Exchange 2010 servers, if there are any) to be reindexed at that same time:
    .\ResetSearchIndex.ps1 –force all
    14.
Monitor the Application Event Log for Event ID 110 for a particular database.
This will indicate the new index is complete for that database.
    15. After receiving Event ID 110 for a database, check to see if the size of the CatalogData folder for that database is the expected
5% to 10% of the database size. If the size of the CatalogData folder is significantly smaller than that or if the size is a few kb or a few mb, go
    to Step 17.
    16. After you have received Event ID 110 and the size of the CatalogData folder is normal, test searching in Outlook online mode
and OWA to make sure search is working.

  • Online Archive for Exchange 2007

Prior to upgrading to Exchange 2013 before end of year, we are currently undergoing a thorough cleanout of our Exchange 2007 environment.  Sadly, we had some users with well over 100K items in their deleted items, so you can only imagine what the rest
of their mailboxes look like.  While we implement proposed policies for Exchange, we need an online Exchange Archive (preferably free) to be as seemless as possible  to the user, but something that can automatically move messages to the archive based
on whatever threshold we set:  3 months after delivery, 6 months after delivery, or whatever.  We would also plan to import any errant PSTs into this archive.
    I found
THIS article, but it only mentions a patch that we are well beyond.  Is there anything in Exchange 2007 similar to the
    archive in 2010?
    Thanks,
    Nelson

    Hi,
In Exchange 2007, there is no online archive feature, this feature is available in Exchange 2010 or later.
If you want to keep items for some time, as a workaround, you can use the Export-Mailbox cmdlet in Exchange 2007 to export items to PST file.

  • Using Recovery Storage Group to recover a single mailbox in Exchange 2007 CCR

    Hi, there:
    Our Environment: Exchange 2007(SP3) CCR
Now we got a task to recover a mailbox which is still on Exchange 2007 now(but it is suspected the owner deleted many emails before he left and these deleted items is NOT recoveralble through dumpster). They want to recover this mailbox to a point
of time where they believe these email items is not deleted at that time.
By reserach below is the steps which can be porformed:
1): Create a RSG and a mailbox database which is linked to the original mailbox database which host the single mailbox that we want to recover.
2): restore the mailbox database backup to this mailbox DB under the RSG.
3): Merge the recovered single mailbox to the existed one.
    My question is:
When I create the RSG and the mailbox DB under this RSG using the tool on EMC, can I specify the path of "System folder path" and "mailbox DB file path" on  drive other than C:, the C: drive on Exchange CCR active node does
NOT have enough disk space so it has to be created somewhere othan than C: drive?

    Hi, Andy:
    Thans for your post.
    I have a look at
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997694(v=exchg.80).aspx.
One thing I have question is when you use cmdlet to create a RSG:
    new-storagegroup -Server <Server_Name> -LogFolderPath <path_to_Logfiles> -Name <RSG_Name> -SystemFolderPath  <Database_Path> -Recovery.
    What should be the <server_name>?
we use CCR, if I want to use this cmdlet to create a recovery storage group on current active node of CCR, do I need to enter the actual name for this active node, or I juts need to enter the cluster name?

  • Unity Connection 8.5 and Exchange 2007 UM

Hi everyone--has anyone configured Unity Connection 8.5 with Exchange 2007 for Unified Messaging yet?  I'm having some odd issues...now every message gets a delayed delivery receipt (regular email messages).  When i followed the guide from Cisco, it didn't work...reported a 503 error when i ran the test from a user's account...
Can anyone provide guidance?  I've only done it under Exchange 2010 (with little to no issues...).
    SJ

I did. Initially it was only Exchange 2010, however in SU2, Exchange 2007/2003 support was activated. It is currently working flawlessly. Just make sure to apply SU2 or upgrade to 8.6 (a little extreme, but to each, their own…). SU2 works well though.

  • Renew certificate on two Exchange 2007 CAS servers

    Hi, there:
Our environment: Exchange 2007 SP3 with two HUB/CAS servers, let's assum server name for these two CAS servers are: CAS1 and CAS2.
Please note these two CAS servers are NOT running with NLB.
Now the certificate(not self-signed) on these two servers are about to expired and I am planing to install new certificate on them.
The old certificate is issued by internal CA server.
    My plan is as below:
    On CAS1:
I am going to use "New-ExchangeCertificate" with -privatekeyexportable to generate the certificate request file then submit the request file to CA, after I get the
.pfx file run "Import-ExchangeCertificate" to import the new certificate, after the old certificate is expired, run "enable service"
to let exchange use the new certificate.
    On CAS2:
    repeat the above procedure.
I did a serach on technet and found this:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/20adfb3d-2fa6-4ff9-b785-cb47a772ed58/3rd-part-certificate-renewal-for-exchange-2007-cas?forum=exchangesvrgenerallegacy
the procedure mentioned in this thread is different. it export the newly created certificate from CAS1 and import it into CAS2.
however the CAS server mentioned in that thread run with NLB.
The two CAS servers in our environment is NOT NLB.
    Any suggestions?

Both plans will work. You can generate a cert for each individual CAS with the correct subject names on each cert relative to the CAS that you will enable it on or create one cert with the correct subject names that cover both CAS and export and import
the cert from one CAS to the other. Up to you.

  • GroupWise 7 Exchange Gateway "Bad GroupWise proxy"

I am testing the GW7 Gateway on a GW702(NW) and Exchange 2003SP2 installation. I have it basically running, but there are 2 issues that I cannot seem to fix.
as part of my learning, I have determined that I must run the Gateway as an Application, due to the windows Service being unable to run from a NetWare UNC, and I also determined that the Gateway name must be 8 chars. This all works.
At this point, if I initiate a Directory Synchronization, it creates contacts for every GroupWise user in the AD import container, and contacts in GroupWise for any existing Exchange users.
My first issue is that it ONLY creates contacts. It does not seem to be able to "mail enable" existing AD accounts event though they match. It is ignoring the settings in the properties of the gateway-> Import Container "When replicating a mailbox whose primary account does not exist in the domain" if I set it to create a Windows Account. Is this normal?
Second issue is: if I migrate a user from GroupWise to Exchange using the Microsoft Exchange 2003 sp2 Migration wizard, it correctly removes the Contact, and mail enables the AD User account, but the new Exchange account will not synchronize.
The problem is that the directory sync gives errors on every user account that was migrated, and does not create a new contact in GroupWise. Any new user created manually in Exchange does sync and is ok. The verbose log in the Gateway says "DXIN: Ignored: Adding User GW701DO.GW701PO.Bob Brown: Reason-Bad GroupWise proxy".
Taking this message at it's word, I have ensured that the account running the Gateway has full AD and NDS rights, and is explicitly assigned full GroupWise proxy rights.
What does this error message really mean?

There is something else going on with the migrated user account. I have deleted the NDS account, leaving only the AD/Exchange user, but it still does not populate the gateway domain with a contact. It still says "Bad GroupWise Proxy".
I will test if I can export, delete, and then import this user so that I can reproduce the content of the AD account. Perhaps there is something in the attributes that is causing the gateway to fail to do it's creation.

On the second issue, are you trying to import/export to/from the same conatner in AD and DOMAIN in GroupWise? Is it possible that the create fails because it clashes with the old account?
If you're only testing the gateway my suggestion would be to create a separate External Domain and use this in the Exchange GWISE addressing scheme (which, in turn, will ensure that any sync'd accounts are created in the new domain).

  • Is there a problem using CFPOP in CF MX 7 with Exchange 2007?

We have a scheduled task that checks a mailbox and, depending
on the request, responds to the sender with information from our
contact database. It has worked fine for several years using CF MX
7 Standard and MS Exchange 2000. We just changed to MS Exchange
2007 and we get an error as follows: "Logon failure: unknown user
name or bad password." We can access the mailbox directly from
Exchange using the account and password, so we think we are passing
    the correct information (example below).
    <CFPOP ACTION="GetHeaderOnly" SERVER="192.168.1.15"
    USERNAME="testaccount" PASSWORD="testpassword" NAME="getMail">
Is there something we're missing? We are certain that the IP,
account and password are still correct. We have assigned this mail
server to the Mail tab in CF Administrator and it can see it and
    route CFMAILs through it.
    Any help is appreciated.

We discovered that Exchange 2007 has five specific steps that
have to occur in a particular order for CFPOP to resume working
properly. We did this (despite several security issues) because
this function is strictly internal. Not recommended for an
application available to the general public.
Steps for making Exchange 2007 work for CFPOP:
    1) Start the POP service on the Exchange 2007 server.
    2) Allow the necessary email accounts to use POP3.
    3) Lower the security requirements on those accounts to allow
CF to send clear text instead of encrypted (SSL) requests to POP3.
    4) Set the Exchange server to allow relay.
    5) Lower the security requirements for relay.
I hope I explained this correctly. This is how my network
    supervisor explained it to me.

  • Exchange 2007 Management shell issue: "There are multiple objects matching the identity "servername" Please specify a unique value"

I thought this would be an easy answer to an issue I'm facing, but there's a problem executing the solution.
I'm running Exchange 2007 in a clustered SCC configuration.  The clustered resource is called "DENBURYMAIL."  I want to give my account full mailbox access rights to all the mailboxes in this resource/database.
I believe I found the solution to this at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb310792%28EXCHG.80%29.aspx (about halfway down the page) the instructions read as follows:
    ==============================
Q: I have a third-party messaging application that requires full access to each user's mailbox. With Exchange Server 5.5, we grant a special account the Service Account Admin permissions, and then tell the application to use this account. How
can I achieve similar functionality in Exchange 2007?
A: Exchange 2007 security works differently from that of Exchange Server 5.5. In fact, Exchange 2007 does not use a site service account. Instead, all services start as the local computer account.
If your logon account is the Administrator account, a member of the root Domain Administrators, a member of the Enterprise Administrators groups, or a member of the Exchange Organization Administrators role, you are explicitly denied access to all mailboxes
that are not your mailbox, even if you have full administrative rights over the Exchange system. All Exchange 2007 administrative tasks can be performed without having to grant an administrator sufficient rights to read other people's mail.
You can achieve the results that you want in the following ways, but do so only in accordance with your organization's security and privacy policies:
In the Exchange Management Shell, use the following command to allow access to all mailboxes on a given mailbox store:
Add-ADPermission -identity "mailbox database" -user "serviceaccount" -ExtendedRights Receive-As
    =============================
But when I run the command (Add-ADPermission -identity "denburymail" -user "matthew.fazio" -ExtendedRights Receive-As) I get an error telling me that "There are multiple objects matching the identity "DENBURYMAIL."  Please Specify a unique value."
I'm not sure what's causing this-- why are there "multiple objects?"  Is this a problem due to operating in a clustered environment?
    Any assistance would be appreciated!

It may not be specific enough for the command to understand you.
    Try this:
    Get-MailboxDatabase -Server <servername> | Add-ADPermission -user "matthew.fazio" -ExtendedRights Receive-As

  • Exchange 2007 New Install Error - Read only MultiValuedProperty does not support this operation

Existing Server/Exchange 2003 environment. New 2003 R2 x64 server fully patched and updated with no other apps installed attempting to install Exchange 2007 SP2.
Initially I was getting the error "Could not find the default Administrative Group ‘Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)’". This I
fixed by completely uninstalling per this Microsoft article,
this Microsoft FixIt article and this recommended blog post, ending with
setup.com /preparead. I'm making progress, because now I'm getting a new error attempting the install. Specifically, Hub Transport installation fails with "Read only MultiValuedProperty does not support this operation."
    Executing
setup.com /prepareSchema fails. I've set the msExchVer attribute for CN=Offline Address Lists to 4535486012416 and gotten no change, the install still fails. This
Googled page exactly describes my problem, and all anyone could say was to add this version number. It doesn't work. Pretty much none of the threads I've read have a resolution beyond this. I'm stumped, any help would be greatly appreciated.

What's the error message when executing  setup.com /prepareSchema fails? failed at Organization Checks?
Could you please check whether you are on the right schema version?

  • Does Exchange 2007 support dynamic disk

We have Exchange 2007 SP3 installed on Windows 2008 Std edition.  it is a virtual machine.
We have disk space issue on couple of drives. We are planning to expand the disk.

Yes, it is supported to have mailbox database on Dynamic Disk (except it is single copy cluster)

However I won't convert the disk from basic to dynamic while database is on the drive. Suggest you to dismount the DB, move it to a temp location, convert the disk, move the database back and mount the DBs...
