Is there no "on-the-go" playlist on iPod 2.generation?

I have a 3rd generation iPod 20 GB and an iPod mini. Now I just bought an iPod 2nd generation (20 GB), which has no on-the-go list onboard, i.e. I can´t chose my favorite list of songs on-the-go (you know what I mean...), although I resetted the pod using the latest updater to version 1.5.
Normally you hold the button, the selected title does not yet start to play, but is added to the on-the-go list.
Is that function not built in up to the 3rd generation or how can I change that?
Thanks a lot for your help (I hope...) from Andreas

Unfortunately, it can't be done.
On the go features were introduced in the thrid gen iPods, and 1/2G iPods were never given the capability.

    Hello,
I recently tried downloading the IOS8 to my iPod 5th generation and when it was almost done the computer said there was an error. Right after that, the iPod shut down completely and now it's on recovery mode. I plugged it in and it said that I had to restore it and update it so I could use it again but it doesn't let me. What can I do? I even did a backup before the update.
    I really need help.

What happens when you connect to computer and restore via iTunes?
    Without knowing that:

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Is there a cord to hook up my ipod shuffle generation 2 to the iHome

Is there a cord to hook up my ipod shuffle generation 2 to the iHome iH6 Dual-Alarm Clock Radio?
      Windows XP

how come when u clik on the ihome at the store on
apple.com it says what modles it uses and it dose not
say the ipod suffle seconed generation
That's what I've been telling you, possibly too subtly, I thought you already HAVE an iH6, thus was trying to show you that you could use the 2nd Gen Shuffle with it... The iH6 isn't exactly the PERFECT solution as far as the 2nd Gen Shyffole is concerned and vice versa.

  • There is green mold/corrosion on my iPod 5th Generation charger.

There is green mold/corrosion on my iPod 5th Generation charger, how can I remove this safely ?

Hey Nikki, An iPod classic with iOS 8?!? OK, When you say "Charger" are you talking about the cable or the device that converts the 120 volt power from the wall to something that your iPod can handle? If you mean the cable, replace it, the green gunk is copper oxidation, corrosion. Moisture has gotten in the cable and is causing the cable to fail, replacement is the only thing that will work for certain. If within one year of purchase may be covered under warranty, you could get a free replacement from Apple. If it is just the tip of the cable wipe it off with a tissue and some alcohol. If your talking about the charging port on your iPod or the USB port on the other end, There are cleaning kits, you can purchase, which come with little brushes and pads and a cleaner solution to remove the corrosion. Just follow the instructions to the letter! Otherwise you can try this get bottle of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) 91% and several cotton swabs. You may need to cut / trim the swabs to fit the port openings. Turn your iPod and/or the charging device off. Apply 1 maybe 2 drops of alcohol to the swab, you want it damp, NOT wet! If you get it too wet use a tissue to dry the excess alcohol off the swab. Then insert the swab in and out as if you were plugging it in and out, do not sweep side to side, you risk damaging the contact pins inside the port. Bend or break one and you'll have a real and expensive mess. after 4 or 5 in / out motions, varying the position of the swab from right to left, change swabs, dampen a fresh swab and continue until the swab come out clean. Or take it to Apple or an electronics service shop and let them clean it. When done allow the port to dry a few minutes before turning your iPod on. Good luck, Cheers.

  • The sound of my iPod 5th generation is no longer working

The sound of my iPod touch 5th generation is no longer working. I did not drop it or anything like that. I just noticed that the sound was no longer working but when I plug in my headphones I can hear the sound perfectly. I called Apple today and they told me that I still have a 19 day warranty, they also scheduled an appointment to see if they can replace the iPod. My question is what are the chances of my iPod getting replaced? And if there is something wrong my iPod will they replace?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • No on-the-go list on iPod 2nd generation?

I bought an iPod 2nd generation, I already have a 3rd generation model.
I like the on-the-go features very much, which allow to chose my favorite songs "on-the-go", but you probably know what I´m talking about.
Does the older iPod not offer that on-the-go list, or how can I get it?
I have the latest update installed (version 1.5)
Thanks for your help (I hope)

  • How do i get my "on the go" playlists from ipod to library.

I have an ipod classic that I manually sync. For speed I make playlists using "on the go" and now have a number of these that I want to transfer from ipod to my library.  The only way I can think of doing this is to revert to automatic syncing. When I start to do this I get a warning message saying my ipod will be wiped and only content in the library will be sync'd. Does this mean I will lose any playlist created on my ipod ?  Can anyone advise please?

Despite the fiend's confident manner and his curt correction, I believe he is very mistaken about this.  I sensed this was baloney and kept looking, to find a thread in which the same is discussed for iPhone, but it worked on my Classic iPod as well.  (I don't mean to get overly down on a.f, but one should be careful and try to be sure before telling someon they can't do something that seems like a basic function that should by all reason be possible - Not that  all lack of reason doesn't often apply to these products...)
How to transfer playlist from iPhone to iTunes 11.1.3?
The procedure described here did work for me, but know this: if I hadn't somehow actively saved an on-the-go list long ago (and forgotten,) I never would have known, because although I have been selecting tons of tracks for "on the go," apparently it erases all lists when you power down, unless you do that deliberate save.  That's right; c beyond all sense of reason (case in point of above) the iPod does not continue to save selections in one growing on-the-go list unless you save it before shut-off.  Saving auto names that list and starts over.  So while I would like to have one big list in which to save all songs for future DJ choices, I will have to have a new list for every time I select even one single song before power off, or POOF gone.  Wish I'd known that before, I stupidly assumed 100 or more songs were saved cause I never checked.
Check it out and see if it works for you.  Cheers.  And no offense A.F.
I guess considering how tedious and dysfuntional this is (also not a first for Apple,)  I will find another way to earmark tracks on the fly, like use a star rating which I've never really used with consistency.  You might consider the same if you have similar purposes.  If you're sitting down and deliberately making a specific list all at once, save it and you should be good to "go."

  • Are there diagrams of the internal configurations of ipods?

I'm looking for a diagram of the inside of a 3g ipod. Apple would charge too much to repair my ipod (its 3 years old and the repair is worth just as much as buying a similar functioning 3g on ebay). The controls don't work (with the exception of the hold switch). I want to open the unit and see if I can spot anything out of wack on my own.

    Bump.
