I looked up laptops on cnet (I'm trying to pick between 2 right now for buying), and there was an mp3 player thing (I get sidetracked easily) and it said under rumors that there will be a creative zen v plus in 8 gigabytes. just checking to see if that's true cuz I was going to sell my zen micro to get a vision m or a sandisk sansa. I like the sansa because it's better. anyway, is the rumor true, because that might influence what I buy. If it is, when's it coming out?

There's always something bigger, better, or cheaper on the horizon, it's just a matter of how long you want to wait.

Are deleted photos really gone?

i just started using iphoto. in the past i organized everything myself and used preview.
now that im using iphoto, its a lot easier to go through and delete old/ bad pictures, HOWEVER, after deleting a whole bunch of them, i went into the iphoto originals folder, and there there were, still on my computer.
i do not want to delete everything twice.
when i delete a picture off the iphoto interface, how do i know or how can i guarantee that the photo is really gone? yes i deleted it from the library and not just an album, so the pictures should have been gone for good.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
To delete the pics, move them to the iPhoto trash and empty it, using the iPhoto -> Empty trash command.
The exception is if you have changed the default setting at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. 'Copy Files to the iPhoto Library Folder...' If you have changed this setting, then you will have to delete pics by hand.

Reordering pages-Is this really gone?

As far as I can tell, you're no longer able to change the order of pages in your document by dragging the thumbnails accordingly. Has anyone figured out how to do this in the new version? Is this really gone?

What version of iPhoto are you currently running? What size does the Finder say your iPhoto Library is? By default it will be located in your Pictures folder.
It's probable that the library is damaged and your photos are still there. Assuming you are running iPhoto 9 (11) do the following: apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with
Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

HT203167 I had 25 tv shows in my itunes library, and 3 movies. Now there all gone, I can access them thru the store but I dont want to download all over again. There was like 50 gb of video. What do I do, Its impossable to contanct apple about it.

I had almost 30 different seasons of tv shows in my library, alot. Now there all gone, my library is blank. My purchases are in my purchasd section on the store but I dont have enough space to download them all over again. I cant figure out what happend to them. I just watched one, then turnd my pc off, and later that day they were gone. And its IMPOSSABLE to contact apple about it, I dont know why its so hard to ask them any kind of question... The Apple TV 2 will play all the content in your iTunes library that your Apple TV 1 does. It can no longer sync any of it but can stream it all just as the older model did. Airplay is a different feature that lets you stream from an iPad/iPhone, the Apple TV 2 has Airplay the first didn't.
You can still sort and search content by genre, it still marks content watched and unwatched and mainly still lets you organise much as the Apple TV 1 did, with one exception. It doesn't do nested folders, so the ability to tag a movie as a show (ie James Bond) and have all the associated movies in a James bond folder has gone and it lists all these movies individually.
It has a similar situation with TV shows. It will put all TV shows in a series in a folder as the older one did, but the new one lists each series separately whereas the older model would put all the series in one folder.
Not nesting folders is a bit of a pain with large libraries and whilst I don't like it, it's more or less the only compromise I have to make and of course I get additional features too.

However, I have 3 Issues Regarding iPad 2 with IOS 7:
1.) I can no longer open up the apps from the update page. (I used to be
able to & it was a quick way of making certain that I wanted to keep an app
before I updated it.
2.) I have many apps that I have updated since installing the new
operating system & they now have "open" symbols next to them, but I don't
know how to get them off of my update list (since that has already been
done to them).
3.) My iPad has gotten stuck or frozen more in this last week since the
new update then has in the last 2 years put together. (It seems to be stemming from the "Updates" page as sometimes that page is just white & will not open, even though everything else opens & I have an internet connection.)

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Is there really no way to delete a profile from my macbook pro?

I got a new macbook pro recently. I was planning to move data from my old mac but couldn't resist to turn it on right away. In doing this I ended up having to set the profile up on my new mac. One step in this process is to move data from a different mac. Since I hadn't read up on the details of this step yet I chose to skip it. When I finally was ready to move the data from my old mac I was forced to create a another new profile.
I now have two profiles on my new mac and I'm desperate in trying to figure out how I can remove the old profile.
Is there really no way to delete an existing profile from my mac?

the way to delete a user account is to log in as the administrative user which you wish to keep, and open the Users & Groups pane in System Preferences. If the padlock in the lower-left corner of the System Preferences window is locked, click on the padlock to unlock it (by giving it your administrative user’s password). Select the user account that you would like to delete, and press the “-” button at the bottom of the list of user accounts. Relock the padlock if desired, and exit System Preferences.

Color Shift - Save To Web - There really is an issue

OK, Every article I have read about this topic indicates that the user does not really grasp colour management fully. However, I'm going to stick my neck out, and suggest that there really is an issue with either PS or Fireworks CS5, and here's why.
Create a new document - maybe just 100x100px, and choose "Don't color manage this document" when creating it. Fill it with a solid colour, I used RGB 24 16 44 - a dark blue. Now, we have an un-managed swatch.
Save this to web as a JPG, making sure that no conversion to sRGB is taking place (Convert to sRGB is unchecked). In the Save to Web window, you can hover over the swatch and see the colours are still RGB 24 16 44 - so far so good...
Save it as a JPG at 100% quality, just to be sure. Also, save it as a 24bit PNG.
OK, now do something similar in Fireworks... name your files accordingly...
Now open the files in the opposite applications. There SHOULDN'T be any colour shifts at all - you are dealing with raw, un-managed RGB files. However, the JPGs in both instances have shifted. PNG files are spot on.
Can someone explain - without being a terse smart arse - exactly what is causing this? And please, if you are going to glibly refer to some FAQ or such, supply a URL. Sorry, I know the vast majority of folks here are helpful, but I find the quality of some replies aren't worth reading.

I think you can deduce the reason by looking really closely (literally, zooming in) at how .jpgs are constructed. There is a grid of sampling areas (the size based on the quality setting) and each 'block' is like a little gradient, that is the trick that jpg uses to compress. If the program could not change a colour, it would not be able to compress.
Non-lossy formats (eg: zip) look at compressing the data, if it sees a chain of 300,000 zeros, it logically says 'put 300,000 zeros here', that is quicker than literally writing the zeros.
Lossy methods look at the colour of a group of pixels and then substitute them with a mathematical gradient that averages out the content of the block and where you have little detail, the compression is greater because the little blocks are easily described as bland gradients. (bland blends? hehe).
That is why final file sizes in jpgs are variable for the same pixel dimensions, a fact which has baffled many here, because a complex image cannot be averaged out as easily as a plain one.
Again: If the program could not change the colour of pixels, it would not be able to compress in this way.

Canvio External HDD HDWC130XK3J1 -Is There Really No Support For This?

I bought a Toshiba Canvio 3TB external HDD USB 3 model number: HDWC130XK3J1.
When I access the Product Support page of Toshiba, there is no model number for the HDWC130XK3JI (but there is for an HDWC120XK3J1).
Is there really no support for the 3 TB model? For example, how do I go about making a warranty claim when the warranty tab - Enter your Serial Number and / or Model-Part Number (computer, tablet, TV only) - will not even recognise my serial number? Very frustrating!

It depends on the user... many people like to carry around everything.
My suggestion is to buy as much storage as you can afford... better to have and not need than need and not have. Plus, it will be worth more when you sell it.

Are you asking about phones made in Korea or phones sold in Korea? As far as I know, everything Apple makes comes from factories in China. You may have seen a couple of stories about them in the news media. Those phones are sold everywhere in the world, including, I assume, Korea.

I just picked up the Logitech V270 BT mouse and am quite impressed. Connections, range and tracking are steady for Office apps and browsing. It's simple with a scroll wheel, two buttons and a power off switch. You shoud try one because it may be too small for some hands- fine for me.
This was motivated by having the Apple BT mouse replaced for the second time in 2.5 years.

I've read many times on this forum to "Right Click". Is there really a Right Click on the Imac Intel Core Duo like on a PC mouse?

Yes, open your preferences and go into your mouse settings, set the right mouse button to secondary action or whatever it is.
For some reason, Apple doesn't enable right-click for the Mighty Mouse on OS X by default.
It might not look like there is 2 buttons, but that's because it's pressure sensitive, the mouse will know if you're clicking on the left or right.

At the end of each day of editing, I copy the .fcbundle to a 10 TB, Thunderbolt, 5 Disk raid 0 drive (alternatly to work with/from but mostly) as a simple backup. Copying it takes no time tho it has become 150 GB in size. Once a week I update my Carbon Copy Cloner B/U for the Mac HD onto a USB 3 drive - so I am being as thourough as I want to be.
The issue I have is this - before I copy the beast, I move the one from the day b4 to the trash - then I secure empty the trash since to do otherwise would actually only be "hiding" it in the trash folder. So I secure empty - which takes around 3 hours to complete and causes a process named 'locum" to use 100% of 2 of my cores - again for 3 hours. Which is a drag.
I have been secure emptying since i first started using a mac. I was told & read years ago that to not do so shortens the life of the HDD and will lead to it corupting data as it "secretly" fills up, etc.
I would appreciate any ideas on how to just plain old delete data w/o having to go through this song & dance. I could really care less that it writiing 0s over the data 100 times to Military-NSA standards or whatever, I just want it like really gone man.

I've never heard of anyone securely emptying the trash when it consists of video editing . . . . what have you got to hide?
It is a complete waste of time and will not prolong the life of your HDDs . . . . . quite the reverse as you are giving them countless hours of extra work to say nothing of the wear and tear on the rest of the computer.
Just send it to the trash and empty it.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
Would you mind telling me which anti-virus package you use? It may be that it is disturbing iTunes when it tries to write out the fresh database, as it does after almost any activity with your library. I'm noticing more of this type of problem than usual and trying to see if there is any pattern. It may help to prevent a repeat of the problem if you look at the advanced options for your AV package and see if you can find a way to exclude the iTunes folder from any real-time scanning process.
