Is there really NO way to videoteleconference Mac to PC?

I've looked around in discussions and after downloading AIM (and THEN reading that the newest release is not talk-capable) it seems that there is no cross-compatible voice and videoteleconferencing software - is this the case?
Please help - I really wish I could see my kids when I talk to them.

I checked out Ralph John's site, and it seems that I may not be able to see a videoconferencing option in AIM until I actually hook up a camera to my PB (which is at least hopeful). The other site that you mention (applechat info) actually contradicts John's info (but seems to be inline with what I've read elsewhere, saying that
"A common question is "How can I perform a video conference with a PC user?". Sadly, iChat is not available for Windows, and MSN Messenger for Mac does not support video (or sound). One ray of hope is that the link between AOL and iChat may mean video will be supported in the future (AOL was unable to provide video in their chat programs until recently, under court order. Rumors are buzzing about new software coming from AOL or even an iChat port to Windows!)" This site does list other 3rd party software possibilities though, some of which seem to be free.
I guess I'll have to set up a camera to see if I can get AIM to show videoconference as an option.

Is there really no way to delete a profile from my macbook pro?

I got a new macbook pro recently. I was planning to move data from my old mac but couldn't resist to turn it on right away. In doing this I ended up having to set the profile up on my new mac. One step in this process is to move data from a different mac. Since I hadn't read up on the details of this step yet I chose to skip it. When I finally was ready to move the data from my old mac I was forced to create a another new profile.
I now have two profiles on my new mac and I'm desperate in trying to figure out how I can remove the old profile.
Is there really no way to delete an existing profile from my mac?

the way to delete a user account is to log in as the administrative user which you wish to keep, and open the Users & Groups pane in System Preferences. If the padlock in the lower-left corner of the System Preferences window is locked, click on the padlock to unlock it (by giving it your administrative user’s password). Select the user account that you would like to delete, and press the “-” button at the bottom of the list of user accounts. Relock the padlock if desired, and exit System Preferences.

Is there really no way to transfer photos from PC to ipad

Forgive my ignorance. Im coming from a Android Tablet. I went and got the new iPad specifically for iPhoto and the high resolution screen..
I have over a TB of Canon raw files in lightroom on a Win7 PC. What would be the EASIEST way to get a days worth (3GB) onto to the ipad to edit with iPhoto? I was under the impression I could drag and drop the files but that seems to be a nogo as the DCIM folder is read only in Explorer..
I dont want to use "sync" in iTunes because I dont want a synched static set of files . i want to swap out the files i have on the ipad as I process them.
The fastest way I done it so far is to use dropbox and email. Needless to say this is a chore especially when I have the PC, a cord and the ipad right here in front of me.
I hope this isnt a convoluted question but I am somewhat stunned that there isnt a simple way to do this. Am I missing something?

Your right in that there is no way to simply copy them to the iPad.
Option 1:
In iTunes, after choosing your iPad under devices on the left, click the Apps tab. Towards the bottom under File Sharing you'll see iPhoto listed there. Clicking on that icon and then you can drag and drop into the Document box, or click Add and select them.
Option 2:
Camera Connection Kit will allow you to tramsfer the files directly from the camera to Ipad.
Your biggest disappointment though is going to be the fact that iPhoto for iOS does not read RAW images. You can get them on the device but what you will be looking at is the small jpeg embedded in the RAW file. How big this is depends on the camera and at least on Canon cameras cannot be user changed.
Secondly, when you do finish editing the image in iPhoto it will save the 'new' image as a new jpg. It does not create any sort of sidecar file of the changes made so there isn't any way for Lightroom to read those edits. If you wanted the 'new' picture in Lightroom you would have to import it, and it will be a small jpeg.
It sounds like what you really want is some sort of iOS version of Lightroom. PhotoSmith is the most powerful one I know of on iOS but it isn't even close.

I believe the issue is that Apple can't access your account either, since they don't have one of your trusted devices or recovery key either. It's really important to have a copy of your recovery key in a separate location to avoid this kind of thing from happening. Is there really no way to keep the Typewriter Tool selected in v8.2.1?

I find it almost unbelievable that Adobe Acrobat Professional cannot keep the Typewriter Tool selected; is this possibly true?
I use many scanned formed that simply do not convert; I cannot make all of the entry fields text boxes. That wouldn't matter if the person completing the form could simply use the typewriter tool, as I am not looking to massage the data in any way. But to ask them to click on the Typewriter Tool after every single entry is ludicrous. Instead, they print out the forms and answer them in pen! (Kinda defeats the whole point.)

Have you checked the 'keep tool selected' checkmark in the Properties for the Typewriter tool? You have to do it after you have selected the Typewriter tool, but before you have actually used it.

No. the iPhone 3G simply cannot run iOS6. it can't even run iOS5. It just does not have the required resources like memory and processor power.
The 3G was released in 2008 (over 5 years ago), for all intents and purposes the iPhone 3G is at the end of its useful life
However depending on what you want to download there may still be some Apps that wiill run on iOS 4.2 for it you can install, but not many. You will have to search the App store for them though.

If it was an oversight by Apple = they can now consider themselves notified.
If excluding this ability from iOS was on purpose, I'd like to know why. It seems silly. What if I am at work and don't have access to a Mac? This happened. What if I don't even have a computer? With these iOS devices, you hardly need a computer anymore.

All fail and after numerous restarts, finally hangs on step 3. I have worked on this for days, letting it run for hours, like now 0 out of 888 items uploaded.

I tried calling support several times and was on hold for most of the time.
Thank you for directing me to the discussion suggesting clearing the iTunes cache. That is a great and simple solution and seems like a great first step in troubleshooting the issue. (I wish it would work for me) I have also tried reinstalling iTunes. (As well as creating a new music library and creating a new user and importing music from the "public folder".)
Apple seems to have realized the problem and are now offering refunds. iTunes match seems like a great idea. I hope they are able to get it working eventually.

If you did mean footnotes, try this.
Inspector > Document Tab > Document Button > Footnotes and Endnotes
Choose from the Pop-up menu:
Those options place the footnote at the bottom of the page, or the bottom of a section, or the end of the document.

Do a copy.
Then go to the new page, click OUTSIDE the margin so that nothing is being selected. Then you can paste. You can even paste between documents!

My macbook pro mail client freezes on launch...is there any way to reinstall mac mail?

Until a few days ago my mac mail worked just fine but now every time I try to start the mail client it freezes (rainbow rotating symbol). I have tried disk utility to try and repair the disk and it shows everything is fine. If there was a way to uninstall mac mail and then re-install it it might work but I don't know how to go about doing that. Would appreciate guidance on this.

You would need to have enabled iCloud on your MBP. Your question indicated you did not.
Its serial number is useful for establishing ownership should the MBP be recovered. File a police report.

Is there an easier way? Import directly into a playlist?

I am in the middle of ripping all of my 5000+ cd's into iTunes as Apple Lossless files. I'm creating a music server with a Mac Mini, a few 1TB firewire hard drives & a Fubar II dac. I have about 500 done so far and it is becoming a handful. I insist on using playlists because I listen to lots of weird music with a lot of the artists using aliases so I want to be able to group them all together.
This is what I've been doing. I create a few hundred blank playlists. I import my cd making any changes first using command & I. I then scroll down to where all the untitled playlists are. I then have to scroll all the way to where the songs that were imported are listed alphabetically.I choose them using shift & the mouse dragging them to an untitled playlist. I do it this way because if I found by titling the playlist while it was importing and placing it where it sits alphabetically I was taking to much time trying to drag those tracks to the correct playlist. I was also occasionally dropping them in the wrong playlist altogether.
Is there really no way to automatically create a playlist using the artist and album info that you set up or what is automatically generated with cddb? Or can I really not create what I want my playlist to be titled and import the cd directly into it? I can't seem to solve this by using a smart playlist either. Any recommendations?

Here's what I've been doing for years. Its against the grain but so what.
I have 10,000 ripped files. From this I selected 2265 mp3 files(call these my Favorites) which always get "added to library" whenever I re-do my computer(s) which is very often(my hobby).
I use the Finder to organize my Music first not itunes. So I make folders and call them for example Metal, Jazz, etc ...within these folders become Artist names for example Beatles, Who , etc....I delete anything that is ahead of the name of the song(such as track number, its embedded anyway), Why? so it fits better in the smallish 'window' of music car player, etc...So what do I have ? A folder with 2265 mp3 files without track numbers and only my favorite mp3 files.
When I re-do the computer I just set up itunes always unchecking in "advanced preferences" for it to organize and make copies. I do that not itunes. I add to the library. Wait for itunes to do its thing. Set the view options. The only ones I do are, Artist, Album, bitrate, size, Grouping, time & equalizer.
Once the add is done I do that not itunes automatically, I focus on the Grouping. Examples are Metal, Folk, Smooth Jazz, etc I set these up years ago using itunes. The mp3 hold these id tags except equalizer. I select the Grouping column to arrange the sort, takes 1 second. Then do a select all by grouping and an command + i to set each Grouping equalizer all in one shot. When Equalizer function is completed for all the files then I make playlists. My Playlist is the same name as Grouping, for example Metal Grouping gets Metal playlist. That way I can find the entire Group of Metal and drag them to the playlist. All this sounds complicated, but how to explain? The entire process when I re-do my Mac takes 5 to 10 minutes. The hard work is setting up your MP3 files in the Finder but once done you only need to back up those files. iTunes is out of it. Lastly make sure you id3 tag your files when done in the itunes library using view and setting options. Make sure you drag these tagged files back to your original drive where you back them up. So they retain their tags you gve them.

Really no way to insert a page without destroying entire document's layout?

This is a problem I've had since the last version of Pages, and I'm shocked it's not yet fixed. Please someone tell me I'm wrong.
I have a 20-page document, with a lot of floated images. Now I want to insert a page between pages 1 and 2. If I do this, the text all moves, but all the images stay in place, completely destroying 20 pages worth of layout, requiring me to fix it all one by one. This seems insane.
Is there really no way to do this properly? It's a pretty huge weakness that you can't use floating images if you ever want to modify the document in the future.

There are essentially 3 different ways that a graphic can be placed on a page: 1) inline, which is basically treating a picture as a very large letter. The graphic moves as the text is edited but tends to leave massive line breaks. 2) floating, which lets the picture sit underneath or on top of the text. This has the drawback, as you note, of not moving with the text. 3) anchored, which combines the advantages of the first two. The graphic floats on top of the page (or underneath the text) but the anchor lets it move with the text.
Pages has the first two modes but not the third. The only solution, if you want to call it that, is to edit the text thoroughly and add graphics only once you are satisfied your copy isn't going to be changed. (I know, for some of us, the text can change frequently while the basic layout stays the same - I have a couple brochures like that.) My second suggestion would be to find logical breaks so that you don't have 20 pages to redo when your edit totally blows your layout to smithereens. Meanwhile, use feedback to request this feature.
