I'm looking for an audio board to use on my laptop,and i need 24 anlog in and 12 output with 24 bit 48khz sampling frequency.
Plese tell me what are the produts that can do this

NI doesn't have a DAQ board that has 24 Analog input channels and 12 analog output channels together. Furthermore, the highest channel count a PCMCIA DAQ board has is 16.

"Type 3" error trying to install PCM-CIA/USB card

I am in the USA, trying to sort out a PB G3 Wallstreet problem for my son in Kenya (Africa). He is a Peace Corps volunteer, and has been given the use of this old laptop for his work in the village of Oyugis.
I have sent him a PCM-CIA to USB converter, so that he can use a small thumb drive to store things and transfer long email messages and other data to computers in the local post office.
The USB converter came with a software CD, but when he tries to install it, it pops up with a "Type 3" error message.
He would be so grateful if we could help him sort out this problem.

A few points on running a USB PC card with OS 9.x:
- A USB PC card does not supply the amount of bus power like computers with built-in USB ports. I doubt a USB thumbdrive will will work properly through a USB PC card.
- There are USB PC cards that also come with a small power adapter that provides the necessary bus power. However, if he already has the PC card and thumbdrive, he can give it a try. USB PC cards do supply enough power to run a USB mouse, for example, but not enough to power a portable (2.5") USB HD.
- If the Wallstreet has a standard install of 9.x, it will not have the necessary USB drivers to support the USB card. These can be custom installed from a MacOS 9.x CD or downloaded as an individual package. I would have your son look for these USB extensions in his Extensions Manager (Apple menu > Control Panels > Extensions Manager).

If they are present, make sure there are turned on by checking each box, then restarting.
If they are missing, I would download this package from OWC; they have assembled different version numbers of the same USB class extensions that solve a problem Apple's version encounters.

You will receive a 230K package named "usbextensions.sit". As Applellfreak stated, if you make no changes to the file on your PC, you can send it to a Mac. Once he drag-copies the file to Wallstreet's desktop and ejects the CD, he should be able to open it with the onboard Stuffit Expander. He can then highlight all five extensions and drag them on top of the System Folder...he will be prompted by the OS if he wants them installed in the Extensions folder...click OK. After restarting, he can try the USB PC card.
- BEFORE restarting and inserting the USB PC card (or have him do it now), go to the Energy Saver control panel > Advanced Settings > uncheck 'allow processor cycling' for both Battery and Power Adapter. Failure to do so will cause a freeze with the USB PC card present.
There is an alternative to a USB PC card that requires no drivers...a PC Card Adapter + the memory card of your choice. Go to the SanDisk website and click on "PC Card Adapters"; these adapters go in the PCMCIA card slot and will take various memory cards. Whether your son can use these memory cards in the local post office is another question but at least mentioning.

PCM/CIA video capture

My experience is heavy on audio files, but am delving into video for the first time.
1: for transferring and saving/burning VHS, Hi8 tapes, TV, etc. I have been looking at A/V converters and TV tuners lately. I have shopped apple store, best buy, circuit city, compUSA, and internet. eyeTV, Plextor, and Miglia all look good, but I can only afford the Eskape labs myTV.PVR (compusa), which comes highly recommended. ($150)(Although I think it is only USB. Can't find ANY firewire devices other than eyeTV. Someone mentioned Dazzle, but their software seems to all be PC only which really makes $200 and up overpriced for a mac user.) But I went gaga over the Norwood Micro Notebook Cardbus TV tuner adapter. ($80)(compusa)(I could really benefit from the space savings as I am constantly packed up and on the go.) It plugs into my PCM/CIA slot, but the driver is PC only. Anyone know where I could find software to capture video and encode it to MPEG 2/4 using the notebook card as a source rather than firewire? I cannot afford anything professional like Final Cut.
To sum it up:
Does anyone know of any software that can capture and encode video/audio from the PCM/CIA slot?
If not: any hardware suggestions for my low budget better than the myTV.PVR?

For Final Cut Pro you need either a firewire capture device, or a Capture Card.
You can't capture via USB...nor PCMCIA. Avoid the Dazzle. Your best bet is the Canopus ADVC-110. $250. That is the ONLY analogue/digital converter I'd recommend. The only one that works for 95%-100% of the people who use it.
EyeTV is very consumer, and since it is sold at the Apple store, most likely will work. But I still recommend the ADVC-110.
And for capturing ONLY to encode to DVD, if you get Quicktime Pro ($30) you can do just that.

There used to be a way to see if poster was new to the forum.., anyway - welcome to the forum.
As I was alluding to, biggest differences in initial display are due to:
* Camera calibration profile.
* Auto-exposure/contrast settings (for which compensations have been auto-applied in camera, but not in Lightroom).
So, choose a matching camera calibration profile (whether that's an option or not depends on your camera model - they're available for many but not all models) if you prefer one of them over "Adobe Standard" (the factory default profile).
Also, your camera covers for underexposure due to non-optimal auto-exposure/contrast setting, Lightroom doesn't, so your options are:
* turn it off in camera.
* learn to compensate manually (or automatically via a plugin) in Lightroom.
Of course, in addition to preferred defaults (alt-click big "reset" button in dev module), come up with some presets which are appropriate for your druthers and type of photography.. e.g. these will compensate Nikon ADL settings:

My Pages document will no longer show up on my iPad. It shows up on iCloud and i tried to download the document on to my computer. It only gives me an error and tells me to try again. Is there some way I could recover my document?

The other day I tried to open a document on my Pages app on my iPad. I soon notice I could no longer see it anywhere is my documents. I opened my laptop and went to iCloud.com to search for it there. On iCloud.com I am able to see the document but I can not do anything with it. I tried downloading it to my computer as a pdf. file but it just says error and to try again. I was able to copy the document but it does not allow me to download the copied document either. Is there some way I can recover the document or a pervious version of the document?

How are you seeing your document on iCloud from your laptop? Web browser, or OS X Pages open dialog?
If you have MS Word or .pages formatted files parked on iCloud, the web interface will not permit their download as PDF, and in fact, PDF is an inactive option in that download menu for these word processing files. There is no copy facility available, but duplicate functionality exists from the iWork category within the iCloud web presence.
If you have Pages v4.2 or later installed on your (assumption: Mac) laptop, launch Pages and in the open file dialog, select iCloud on the dialog toolbar. Now, press and hold the option key as you drag and drop a copy of our document from iCloud to your desktop. The reverse works also.
See if you can open that document on your laptop now.

Is there some way to put an arrow column 0 in a JTable?

I'd like to configure my JTable something like "grids" in other languages like Delphi. There is a column 0 with a black arrow. When the user changes the line, the arrow is automattically updated to the actual line.
Is there some property of JTable for this or I have to create it manually?

The concepts of Delphi TDBGrid or TStringGrid are:
1) first column is very small, sufficient size to put a little black right arrow
2) the column above is not a normal column, the user can't go to there, can't click there
3) the color of this column is the same color that column header
4) when you call the frame/form with a grid, the arrow is positioned in line number 1
5) if user clicks to select, for example, line 3, or a cell in a line 3, the arrow goes from line 1 to line 3. Then, the user easily know what's the actual line.
With JTable default behaviour, with no line selection enabled, you only see a weak mark around the actual cell. Then, if the user doesn't look with big attention, he doesn't know what the actual cell/line.

I have the same problem. Yahoo Sportacular aborts every time I try to open it. It attempts to load and then the device goes right back to the home screen. The problem started April 26 after I switched leagues from NHL to NBA. Closing all apps and Restarting doesn't solve solve the problem.
All other apps on the iPad work fine. IPad2, OS6.
Any other suggestions? I suppose I could delete the app from the iPad and try re-installing it

Yes. tried the one ram stick, no go. I have been trying to boot off/install the windows 7 disk but am unable to get to the point where windows starts installing after its gathering information portion of the install. I can get to the disk selection screen of the install with the WD HD on SATA port 2 but then get the "cant install messages" when I try to select the Vertex 3. Yes I can see the Vertex 3 Drive as well as the WD drive at this point. some times I have to hit "scan" a couple of times.

Something like it works in Gmail. I do not want to use set lists, I want to enter different addresses each time I send an email. And I am a very slow typist, so I don't want to type the first few letters of each recipient's name. It is much faster for me to just click on the e-mail addresses in the list as a group. It doesn't make any sense to me to have to reopen the contact list for each address, when it should be so easy to click on all of the addresses I want at one time and then click once to add them all to the email as a group. Try this:
1. Select Mail>File>New Message.
2. Select Mail>Window>Address Panel.
3. Use (command+click) on the desired addressees in the Address Panel to create the list.
4. Click "To:" on the top left of the Address Panel.
The group that you selected will be added to the "To" field in your New Message.

like adding the word research at the end of my eamil address that would tell my inbox to place that in the inbox/research folder?
If I have to use a rule on my end, then do I tell him to just place the word research in the subjct line and then I write a rule to place anything with the word research in the subject line in my inbox/research folder?
will the subject line be required to only have the one word research to work, or will the rule look for any presense of that word in the subject line?

iCloud email supports 'plus' addressing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_address#Address_tags
So your friend could just add '+research' to the username part of your email address, and you setup a rule at icloud.com to put all emails sent to that address into a particular folder.
For example:

There's no way to do it without rules on the server though.

Can you reset the device by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?

Is there some way to import image files directly into an open document?

Is there some way of importing a series of image files, say jpegs, directly into an open document, rather than having to open all the image files and having to drag and drop each individual one into the open document? Specifically, I'm a dentist and I often get digital xray images emailed to me from other offices. But they come as 16 or 18 individual image files and I have to put them into a virtual "xray mount", so I can view them all at once, rather than having to open all the images and toggle among them. So I open a blank document in PS (CS4), then I navigate to the folder containing all the image files I received, select all of them and open them all. Back in PS, I now have to select each image tab and drag the image into the blank "mount" and close the image. That new image then becomes its own layer in the "mount" document. But I have to repeat this 18 times for each patient! I was thinking if there was a way to open the new "mount" document then select all the image files and somehow "import" all the image files directly into document - essentially "automate" the process - that'd save me BOATLOADS of time and aggravation! Anyone out there have any suggestions? Thanks alot!! Dr. G.

Thanks, Curt! When u say "animate" do u mean File | Automate...? Inside Automate, I can't find "Make Frames from Layers"...if you do mean "Animate" I can't find that menu. Zeno replied with a BRILLIANT clarification:

I tried that and it works like a charm! I select all 20 layers in the new document that "stacking" creates and just drag them all onto the virtual "mount" document. That's it! Then I just move each of these layers around as I would otherwise...it's just 1 click and 1 drag/drop. Unless someone comes up with a way to actually "import" all the images directly into the "mount" document, I think this appears to be the most efficient route to follow.
I really appreciate your guys' assistance! It's so great that you guys monitor the forum and help us out with our Photoshop problems! What an awesome program it is, right?

It is a Total Misconception that the Support files are installed when you are installing Windows, even if the USB drive that holds them is inserted in the system when doing the Windows install.
You must always Run the Setup.exe files from the support files or run the drivers individually once Windows has finished installing and booted to the desktop.
Also you really need to run the Boot Camp Control Panel Applet and check for updates as not all the newest drivers for full function of all the hardware is included with the original support download. That download is basically a generic version to get the system working and without doing the updates not everything will work properly.
