Is there special software that is needed to create screensavers? I'm using Snow Leopard on a MacBook.

this isn't os x server related, but you can try using quartz composer, which is part of the development tools available as an additional install on the 10.6 installer disc.

To check your model go to About This Mac (by clicking on the Apple icon, top left) and then select more info. If you wish to use mirroring you will need one from 2011 or later running OSX 10.8 or later. The alternative would be to use 3rd party software like Airparrot.

Final cut pro X is supposed to accept AVI. However the AVI files my client gave me cannot be imported in my Final cut pro X. I know there are softwares that can convert AVI to APPLE PRO RES, but does that alter the quality of the media ?

There are apps that will give you tech specs on files. I think Media Info is one. Most likely it's in done delivery codec like DiVX. AVI is a piece of **** as a container anyway and should have been completely abandoned years ago.

Ignore the other post (the one from Brendan), he has no idea what he is talking about.
Read your manual (you have a bookmark to it in Safari on your iPhone or put iBooks on your iPhone and download the manual from the iBookStore) and it will show you how to remove the microSIM from your iPhone. AT&T is not tourist friendly and does not offer a pay as you go plan for visitors with an iPhone. If you are going to be here for a short time you can probably buy a pay as you go microSIM and use it before AT&T notices, if it is going to be for a long time that won't work.
There is a 3rd party company that will sell you a microSIM that will work with AT&T but they are pretty pricey.
Finally, you can get a pay as you go microSIM from T-Mobile to work with your iPhone but you will only have EDGE data speeds.

    Hi watanabei,
Please see Countries where ExportPDF is available for purchase. - Adobe Community. It's necessary to have a credit card billing address in one of the countries listed in this document. If ExportPDF is unavailable to you, you may want to consider an Acrobat subscription, which would also allow you to convert PDF files to Word and other format. For more information, see www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

  • What software do I need to create this animation?

Please watch the first 60 seconds of this video.  I want to create videos pretty much exactly like this fellow is doing.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYvmjdqpT7Y
What software do I need to create those multi-layered still-image animations?  I assume it's the same software that also does the animated text.
Anyone know what he's using to get those still images to animate under and over each other?
    -JOHN

Thank you for the replies.  I read up a bit on the software you all recommended.  The consensus seems to be that Motion is easier and more Mac-integrated than AfterEffects.  So, if I follow your advice, it's between Motion and Photoshop.  Photoshop seems to have a steep learning curve compared to Motion (I'm guessing) and Motion is also cheap at $49.
So all those floating images ... one image zooming in over another that stays stable ... pop up text ... all that can be done in Motion, right?
I ask again because the Apple promo page for Motion doesn't really give me an indication of it doing this, but I also understand this is creative software and it can do a lot of things that can't be individually intemized in a promo page.
If I can get those moving graphics, I'm sold.
    Thanks for the lead.

  • Is there a tutorial that will help in creating a RS232 driver?

I am attempting to write a driver / VI that will control an Animatics "SmartMoter" via a RS232 port.  I was able to download sub VI's from www.summerfiles.com.
Is there a tutorial that will help in creating a driver for a RS232 port?  I take it that I will need to connect these sub vi's in a correct sequence to be able to communicate through the RS232 port.
    Thanks,
    Bill

It seems that what you downloaded is a driver. What you need to determine is how to use the functions on the driver to create a high level application. There is a tutorial at http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/2804 that might be useful. The driver you downloaded is lacking in several areas. One of which is documention. Each VI should include a description of what it is and what it does. Each control/indicator should also include a description. I could not find any such information in these VIs. I didn't look at everything because the horrid front panel colors in the SmartMotor.llb was giving me a headache. I did see a VI called SM Tester. This appears to be a high level example that you could use as a model.

  • Is there any software that will delete video after I crop in iMovie

Ok, I've spent days reading posts and googling for answers. I'm ready to spend $$ if I need to. We're all aware of how iMovie won't let us delete unwanted video. I'm trying to fix a wedding video some hack did in SVHS. I got it from DVD to Video_TS to DV using MPEG Streamline and imported the video clips to iMovie. (By "video clips", I am mean the DV files.)
There are 7 DV files from a 69-minute video. I am creating tons of smaller "clips" from these DV files - like 5 to 15-second clips - because I want to use transitions in between them.
My understanding of what's happening in iMovie as I do this is as follows:
    - Let's say I begin with the first DV file that is 1.9 GB, about 10 minutes long.
    - I create a 10-second clip from that by (a) selecting my start and end points, (b) clicking Edit>copy, (c) clicking on the clip pane, (d) clicking Edit>paste.
    - Now I have a new 10-second clip.
    - But! I also have 1.9 GB of unused video behind that clip, right?
    - I repeat the process maybe 30 or 40 more times until I've edited the original 10-minute DV file (clip) and what do I have?
    - Do I have 40 10-second clips each with 1.9 GB of unwanted video behind it??
As I said, with 7 DV files at 1.9 GB each that need to be sliced into multiple clips for transition effects, etc, this will shut down my MB quick. I've only done this with 3 DV files so far and I have 12 GB of HD space left. I will obviously not be able to finish the project this way. What a disaster!
So here's the million dollar question -- Is there ANY 3rd party software that will allow me to slice these DV files into small clips and permanently delete the unused video?
I don't care if I use something that "replaces" iMovie or something that works with iMovie. Like I said, I'm ready to spend the money to save the time, disk space, and aggravation. Note I worked in video production (many) years ago so I'm not afraid of something "technical" (editing concepts aren't new to me). However, I'm far from being an expert on what's out there these days.
I should also note that the original wedding video (DVD) did not have any chapters or anything of the sort. The ONLY way I can edit this is to import the entire file as it was converted to DV. It's not like I can import only the video I want to use. I hope that makes sense. I do not have access to the source video either - only this pathetic DVD he calls a wedding video.
Thanks in advance so much for any help. I never would've gotten this far without all the posts!

    - Do I have 40 10-second clips each with 1.9 GB of unwanted video behind it??
Not to worry. When we Copy and Paste within a project, iMovie HD creates a new clip thumbnail for the Timeline/Clips pane, then simply adds a new pointer to the source video. The source material is not duplicated.
When you Copy a clip and Paste a clip to a DIFFERENT project then Yes, the clip's entire source video file is duplicated. (When Copying between projects, be sure to Copy and Paste all the clips together so iMovie duplicates the source files just one time.)
Next time, you might consider setting your iMovie 6 preferences to limit the length of imported clips to 3 minutes — or whatever duration you want. Then each imported clip will have its own source file. When you discard an entire clip its file will be discarded too, shrinking the size of the project.
If you have no need to preserve the clips as clips you could export the project to a Full Quality movie that you import to a new project. Everything will arrive as a single clip, which may be okay here. Then discard your old project. The project will be smaller, containing just the stuff on the Timeline.
If the Timeline contains most of the source material — just split into small clips — there may not be a lot of "extra" material in the project. To get an estimate of how large the Timeline really is, open the "Timeline Movie.mov" that's inside the Cache folder of the project in QuickTime Player. QT Player's Show Movie Info window will show the size of the material it represents.

  • I'm a Dropbox user and I migrate between my iMac and a Toshiba notebook.  Is there Apple software that will work on the notebook allowing me to open Pages, Numbers or Keynote documents that I've placed in Dropbox?

I'm a Dropbox user and I migrate between my iMac and a Toshiba notebook.  Anyone know if there is Apple software that will work on the Toshiba that will allow me to open Pages, Numbers or Keynote documents when I access them in Dropbox?
Maybe I should just always export from Pages into Word  (and likewise for the other types) before I upload to Dropbox?  I hope not!!

If you don't want to export files and consider the Microsoft formats to be your basic working format, then you need to consider either using MsOffice for Mac or LibreOffice instead of the iWork suite.
You could always run a virtualised OSX on the Toshiba, but I don't think Apple will appreciate me telling you how to do that.

  • Is there any software that will normalize sound volume?

I don't want to use Sound Check to normalize my whole library, and my library is too large to modify the volume on a song by song basis. What I need to find is software that can normalize the volume of a playlist, both while playing it on my Mac, and also when burning a playlist into an mp3 disk. Does such a program exist for Mac???

Have a look at iVolume, you'll find it at this link: iVolume

  • I have a new Mazda CX 7 my song list will not come up on screen in car my wife blackberry the song list comes up is there an app that I need for my iPhone 4 to do the same

Is there an app that can do this now ? Anyone thank you for your help

    Demo,
I was using the New iPad (iPad 3??) to access my FL Comcast email account for the 1st time. on a new internet site, my Canadian Cousin's site in her home in Quebec.  I had never used this iPad on my Comcast account.
Whenever I try to access my email account from a different internet account than my own, Comcast always asks me for my user name and password.  They also normally ask me to answer a security question that I have given them beforhand to prove who I am.
Thia time they did not do that.  They have started a more secure check system that requires you to read numbers and letters from a box that is moving around and retype those items into another box before hitting enter.  Machines cannot read those letters.  The iPads, not having "Flash" installed, also can not see those letters/numbers.
If you can not see the letters/numbers you can not type them into the second block therefore you can not verify that you are who you claim to be.
After all that, the also show a screen that asks if this is your personal computer or one from a friend or library or company etc, and if you want them to remember this device as yours from now on....
I just left the Apple Store here and they said that the reason I can not see the "Floating Figures" is because the iPads cannot show anything that is made using "Flash" stuff because that system is not the latest updated secure system....
    Thank for the reply.

  • HT201475 Is there any software that can evaluate my Macbook to determine if it can support Yosemite?

I have a 2006 Macbook that has had its mother board replaced and has had many upgrades. It runs very well. It is not running Snow Leopard. Is there an app that can scan my computer and determine if it can run Yosemite? What is the risk if I attempt to install Yosemite and it's not compatible?

Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) model number 5,1 or higher
