The device has an 8GB drive for caching streamed meida, a small portion of that is used to temporarily store photos for the screensaver. It may vary depending on resolution etc but it seems to be around 100.

You can drop the resolution a little, but it makes everything blurry.
OS X isn't as friendly like Windows is to give some UI adjustment, one of many major complaints about the platform that has gone unheeded for years now.
As a lifelong Mac user who's eyes are going due to age, I'm really liking Windows 7 more and more every day.
If you use Firefox, NoSquint and Theme Font & Size Changer add-ons, with a nice persona that makes better contrast, tweak the FF toolbars, you can at least make your web surfing tolerable on Mac's.
Also you can set a Control key in System Preferences > Universal Access plus a scroll wheel mouse, if you need to zoom in/out certain areas of OS X, however for a pernament UI scale solution there is none that's practical, unless you have a large room, a projector and a smooth wall.
A larger monitor won't work up close neither, however dropping the resolution and sitting back a bit might sharpen the images a bit.
The UI really needs to be adjustable and it's not.

I'm thinking I can convert the files with Compressor and place them in a new folder with their original file names (not sure how to get compressor to do this yet) and then do a major "Reconnect Clip" afterwards.
Not sure if there's a more efficient way to get all the clips in the timeline to compressor. I want the full files, not a sequence export. I can go through one clip and a time and add the master file. I'd rather not.
The more automated processes the better.

yeah Media reconnect can be an issue.
Will Media Manager convert files? Another thing I was thinking was to Media Manage the sequence out, copying all the used files to a new folder, and then running that through compressor. But it still leads to a massive reconnect. Fine tuning all those edits would be less involved than re-editing the whole thing, I hope.

You need to install Office on the computer from the installer DVD or disc image you purchased.

Whenever i click on word or powerpoint it always brings up a recent document. I want to have the option like when i had first opened the app that gives the options of new document and the variety of different documents. how do i get it back to that?

Maybe you need to adjust the zoom slider in the lower left corner of the window?

Is there a mail setting that will stop opening the emails automatically?

Just upgraded to Mt. Lion, and find that in Mail, if I just click on the notification, it opens the mail in a small side panel. Can I avoid this in settings somewhere? There are emails I don't want to open, just delete.

I'm not sure why you want to waste time double-clicking the item in a list to read it, but you can close the pane by dragging the divider between the list and the reading pane all the way to the right (assuming you are in the new layout). If you are in Classic layout, drag the divider to the bottom.

Hey. I use my iPad to watch videos while I exercise. For some reason, most of my videos show an iCloud and will not play. Is there a setting that will make my videos play normally again and not through the iCloud?

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

Is there an Adobe program that manages what sites can store on Flash player?

I apologize in advance if I'm not posting properly , I am VERY new to all of this ,,,,My son uses Face Book allot and plays games there , I also play games on line and he was telling me that there was a program you could download that goes along with Adobe Flash Player that helps improve its performance by regulating how much information sites that use Flash Player can store on it and how they access your cam and mic and so on , like dumping your cache I assume ? Hi, You did well, I understand what you are asking The first thing since those websites are not the safest, make sure you have a good Anti-Virus program running.
Now these links to the Adobe site are not the easiest to understand. This is the Global Storage Settings Panel. It works together with the next link, which is the Website Storage Settings Panel. You need to read both first before making any Settings. The third link is the Global Privacy Settings Panel.
When you go to these sites, they are active, you make the actual Setting right there. Nothing to download or Install.
