Is there tabbed conversation for Lync:MAC 2011?

I am using Lync:MAC 2011, trying to find tabbed conversation for MAC. I have found there is for Windows but was not able to find for MAC. Anyine knows if there is tabbed conversation made for MAC?

As of the date of this posting, this feature still doesn't exist on the Mac client.  This is one of a few issues with the Mac client that we've brought up to Microsoft.

Dell only provide some rather old Windows drivers for this model, no Mac drivers at all.
Plug it in, you may get lucky but frankly I doubt it.

I recently purchased a Mac Book Pro with Retina Display.  When I hook up an external montitor Microsoft Office Excel is blurry as is Word.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Office 2011 needs an update to be compatible with Retina display. Install the most recent version from the Microsoft site > http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads Or open an Office app, and go to Help menu (on the menu bar) > Check for Updates. Run it twice

  • Free at last from Word for the Mac 2011

I used Word for 20 years but when I moved on to Lion, I found the 2011 version
of Word for the Mac to be a muddled, useless ball of snakes. I switched to Apple's Pages
and was pleased with its intuitive and productive arrangement. What a difference!
With Pages, it is especially easy to produce items that are a mix of text and
drawing elements (e.g., borders). Unllike the disaster of Word's Ribbon, it has an
area at the top where you can display (from a wide array of options) those
choices of production tools you wish to have available.
I think if you give Pages a try, you'll never go back to Word.

    They did it once already.

Did you use this method to extract the MSI package ?

  • All of a sudden, when I click on a link in an email (Outlook for the Mac 2011), it doesn't open in Firefox. Firefox widow pulls up, but no new tab. Microsoft says that since it pulls up Firefox, it isn't Outlook's fault.

This has happened many times, in fact, every time I've clicked on a link in an email -- but just since Sunday, I think. Before that, it worked perfectly.

    # Sign back in, and you will be asked to save the password you entered.
    # This will save the password and autocomplete if you have this option turned on.
I am not exactly sure why the menu did not detect the password change or if it was stored incorrectly after you changed it? But after storing the correct password you can manage any duplicate passwords in the password manager.[[Password manager - Remember, delete and change saved passwords in Firefox]]

  • Simple AVCHD conversion for PPC Mac

    Hi,
I've got a Power PC Mac (dual 2.5) with Final Cut Studio (version 5.1.4) and want to do something really easy (at least easy in my mind this should be easy)--I want to purchase an HD camcorder, record a video and then edit that video in Final Cut Studio.
Here is the rub--for some unknown reason, apple does not have the technical ability to allow AVCHD to be edited in the older version of Final Cut and/or on a Power PC based Mac. So, what I need to do is convert the AVCHD to a format that my version of Final Cut can work with--any ideas on how to do this....as Quicktime can't seem to do it (and no, I refuse to spend $3,000 for a new computer and 500 for a software upgrade).
Right now, I'm being forced towards getting a JVC GZ-HD6 (instead of my favored Canon HF10) since it's file format can be converted in Quicktime for use in Final Cut. What gives...is AVCHD video conversion really that hard--if it is...why is AVCHD so popular when JVC puts out something that works--their version can be converted easily. And for that matter, why can't Final Cut simply just work with the JVC file version?
Another question I have...if someone can help me out.... why is there such a compelling drive to have final cut work with specific cameras? Why not just download the video to the hard drive and work from there?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!
    Vic

Its not an unknown reason, Victor. Your older version of FCP was coded prior to the establishment of AVCHD as a mainstream consumer format that might reasonably be expected to be need to be supported. Just as my old 4:3 black and white TV can't display a color picture or an HD picture or a full frame 16:9 picture, because it was engineered prior to the establishment of such formats, I'd need to upgrade it (replace it with a newer set) to get support for such newfangled technology ... you need to upgrade your version of FCP if you want support for the latest video formats.
I would beg to differ here.....its not like we are changing from an analog signal to a digital one (fundamental hardware differences), we are talking just a data compression format--just a different way to visualize and store data--it shouldn't take a $500 upgrade to do that--and with the previous analogy, it would require an upgrade of my Macintosh...which it shouldn't require, because in the end, it is just 1's and 0's and how they are stored on a hard drive and manipulated by the CPU and video card. So I'm still having a difficult time understanding why AVCHD can't work on a Power PC based Mac other than someone just doesn't want to code it.
what I need to do is convert the AVCHD to a format that my version of Final Cut can work with--any ideas on how to do this
You can try VoltaicHD from ShedWorx, which can convert your source files to a format (Apple Intermediate Codec) which is supported by your hardware/software
    http://www.shedworx.com/?q=volmac-home
    Thanks!
What gives...is AVCHD video conversion really that hard
Yes actually it is very complicated. AVCHD is a highly compressed acquisition format and certainly not a post production format as the complexity of the compression algorithm does not lend itself to real time processing (at least not yet with the current state of technological advancement).
But doesn't the latest version of Final Cut (only on an Intel based Mac that is) work with AVCHD? If so, why can't it work on a Power PC?
why is there such a compelling drive to have final cut work with specific cameras?
As with any complex hardware/software setup. Some configurations will be known to be fully compatible and some less so. This is just the real world and the way it works. You can find a full list of directly and fully supported hardware on Apple's Final Cut Studio support site.
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/resources/supportdevices.php
What I meant here is why is Final Cut wedded to specific camcorders rather than being an open system that is wedded to data formats--if it is tied to a data format, vice hardware, upgrades to different data formats should not be difficult--a SOA and open ended architecture should be standard in this day and age.
Again, thanks for all the help and information!

  • Is there a converter for the Mac Mini

I have a Mac Mini - here, in the States.
I may have the opportunity to spend time in England and would love to bring the computer with me. Did Apple make a power converter for it? Would DC power hurt the MINI? Anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you for your help in advance,
    Jackie

Yes mooblie - it was helpful.
It's been a rough day - and you do not know me to understand - I didn't need anything "extra" added - I can only handle so much in a day...
I've been on line with a young thing - who has been having temper tantrums and says I'm condescending - when all I'm doing is helping her identify a font for a project and wishing her luck on it.
I think folks have forgotten the interaction that actual conversation offers. And yes, I may be considered in the stone age - to yourself, as my friend Scott would tell you - "she is old enough to be your grandma" always hated him for saying it - but it does make me laugh... and most likely, true!
Shall we start again. I have a Mac Mini in the USA - can I use it in England safely? If yes - how?

  • Are there any themes for my mac?

    Different icons, skins etc

Not officially supported by Apple for anything other than folder icons. There are third-party hack applications for earlier versions of Mac OS X, but I've not seen any yet that are compatible with Lion.

  • External hard drive for my Mac and PC

I recently bought a 15in MBP. I have been using an external hard drive to store my music using a PC's itunes.  When I connected it to my MBP it didnt recognize it.  So i put everything back on to my PC, and used the now empty hard drive as the device for my Time Machine.  No when I connect the external hard drive to the PC, it doesnt recognize it.  So now I cant transfer my music back onto my external hard drive and use it with my MBP.  I need help!!!
Will I have to buy an all new external hard drive to put my music on and then use it for my MBP?  Do I have to buy a specific brand and will it have to be formateed for Mac initially.  If so, will it work on a PC?  I just need advice.

For both the PC and Mac to recognise the hard drive, it has to be formatted as FAT or FAT32. Macs can read, but not write NTFS drives (which is the standard format for PC/Windows Vista/7); Windows can't read or write Mac OS formatted drives (which is what Time Machine requires)
Empty the drive, and reformat it in Windows as FAT32. There are some limitations: FAT32 won't allow an individual file large than 2GB, which may a problem if you store full movies in iTunes. But it will work.
If you're not happy to do that, there is software such as Macdrive for Windows that illl allow Win machines to deal with Mac formatted drives. I guess there are equivalents for the Mac to write to NTFS too
