Is there the equivalent of smart art in keynote?

Sorry. I am new to Keynote. In office 2007 for the PC there is a smart art feature where its templates for building graphics such as process diagrams, hierarchy charts, circle diagrams...you start with the template and add text.
I can only seem to find basic charts or basic shapes. Any add-ins or templates for building anything?

OmniGraffle however does something similar and you can cut and paste from OmniGraffle into Keynote. It also has something called stencils which are collections of graphics and objects which are very useful. Not bad as a drawing program either.

Shapes, Smart Art not showing in PDF from Word 2007

Hi,
I am having a strange problem. When I convert my Word 2007 document to PDF using Acrobat PDF, all the shapes and smart art that I created in Word 2007 is not appearing in the PDF.
However, when I am converting either Microsoft Powerpoint or Microsoft Excel 2007 to PDF, the shapes and smart art are coming properly.
Can anyone please help me. It is really really urgent for me.

How are you converting your document? Try another way. You can convert it by going to the Acrobat ribbon, or by printing it to Adobe PDF (just like you would to a normal printer but select Adobe PDF) or from within Acrobat (File>Create PDF>From File). If this doesn't fix it try changing the PDF settings used to create it, e.g. smallest file size, Press Quality etc.

Is there an equivalent in Lion to the PC configuration system where you can choose which programs are startups , delayed or manual

Help, I want to be able to choose which programs I wan tot run at start up because after 6 months of usage it takes about 2plus minutes for a cold system to start up and 5 seconds to shut down. I wan tot speed up the startup and I think I have to many programs runnning at startup. On my PC I used to control that from sys config,is there an equivalent in Lion.

Go to System Preferences/System/Users & Groups. Click on Login Items and add or delete the apps as you choose.

This has proved unsatisfactory to me so far. Lines are left in etc.

There are two basic menus for fonts - one from the main menu bar and one from the toolbar. You can also bring up the font manage dialog.
I don't recommend trying to hard to force an otherwise foreign font, as it inevitably needs to be usable/supported on iOS as well, and that can get tricky w/3rd party fonts, as an example, even with the expanded font support in the latest iBA.
If you need to discuss fonts more, I suggest starting a new thread....preferably with a slightly more brief title, thanks.

Unfortunately, iCloud does not offer equivalents to Mobile Me’s iDisk, Gallery or Web Hosting services. You will need to find a third party solution to replace these services. You might consider DropBox, SugarSync, MediaFire or any other service that offers online storage. (not all these alternatives offer all the services previously provided by iDisk)

See my reply to a later simplified version of your question. I don't think that either iPhone or iPad recognize RAW files such as NEFs. And the iPhone is not designed to be a mass storage device like a portable flash or portabel hard drive for temporary storage of files, if that's what you're after. As I mentioned in my previous reply, I have an iPad and have been experimenting with it as a tool for photography, hoping that it would be a nice travel tool for backing up and viewing photos from my Nikon dslr. But both the iPad and iPhone just are not set up to do that well. Both show photos nicely, but organization of photos is very frustrating since you can't create albums on the iPhone or iPad, but only back on your sync computer. (There is one very powerful photo organization app called SortShots, but you import photos to it and it organizes and stores the images wtihin the app not using the native photo app. It doesn't work with NEFs either.) I don't know of any RAW processing software for either device.

Is there a way to put a smart art object within a SP page?

There is no direct way. You could create a slide library (if it's a PPT file) and embed the single slide with the smart art in your site using a web part or you could save your smart art as a picture right in Office and put that in your page.
One thing, and I'm not sure here so you'll have to check, is you could possibly use Word Services or write to the OpenXML APIs to pull smart art dynamically from a file. That's if you want to write code. When does pages get smart art? Discouragement and Disappointment Thread

Recently I had to acquire the Microsoft Office because iWork and especially pages does not offer Smart-art. I love working with iWork and in my opinion the UI is way better than the Microsoft Office.
But, being a poor student I had to pay a whopping 139 euros for Microsoft Office package and which I am only going to use the word part (lets face it, who uses outlook lol). I think it is absolutely ridiculous that Pages doesn't offer Smart-art.
Before buying Word, I went by the Apple Store Amsterdam to ask for a app recommendation (which app I should download for pages to expand templates and charts). Trying to ask a blue shirt but everyone is busy and so I decided to wait and observe. I noticed that only a few blue shirts were working, actually assisting costumers. The rest were socializing with each other and often with the backs against the costumers and when a costumer asks a question, the costumer is frowned upon for disrupting the -essential and very much needed but also necesary future space exploration on other planets- conversation.
After a -national geographic observation- I spotted a blue shirt alone leaning against the wall and when she noticed I wanted to ask her something she immediately stood up. -felt like a general-
Greeted, and I asked my question: I'm having trouble creating organizational charts, hierarchal lines etc.. and it takes allot of time, I wondered if pages has a similar program like Smart-Art, so I browsed and I noticed hundreds upon hundreds of downloadable programs, I want to ask you which program do you recommend?
The blue shirt told me I should use Numbers and to her I replied: Yes, but the whole reason behind my decision to download a program is to assist me in creating these things that take allot of time, time that could have spent on typing or doing other things. She replied: you should sign in for the workshop. I asked if she has iWork and of course she does. Never mind.... I am dissapointed in the service and it was not what I expected from Apple.
I remember a time when Apple blue shirts did their utmost best to help and assist you in anyway and their care made sure that you could trust Apple. But, now they are either too busy or they cannot help you and refer you to their site's forum. Make an appointment and during your appointment you should make another appointment because the blue shirt helping you cant assist you and your problem belongs to another "department" annnnnnnd two weeks fly by for a basic hardware issue that can be solved within 10 minutes with a screwdriver. Their are a few bad Apples but unfortunately they overshadow the good ones in the Store.
But yes, I'm a student who thinks twice about expenditure and recently had to buy a €139 software, disappointed, I shed tears whenever I use her smart-art to only copy-past into Pages. The only thing missing is a electrical shock strapped around my neck when ever I do this, reflecting the punishment I must suffer to open Word and Pages next to each other ....
..I don't want my money back, I want to share my experience, a simple action reaction that has lead me to purchase a competing product, all avoidable, had the service been just right..

As a student do you do your homework and look past just the immediate "solution"?
There is a wide range of choice available on the Mac not just Pages, which could easily have done what you want with the free ArtText 2 as Peggy suggested.
LibreOffice is free for a start and there are many other free or cheaper alternatives than MsOffice.

btw Pages can do organisational charts, not as well as Word but it exists.
Select 2 objects (eg Textboxes) > Insert > Lines > choose from various connecting lines

Keynote needs PowerPoint Smart Art!!

PowerPoint 2007 (PC) or 2008 (mac) Smart Art is very nice. I can quickly create advanced diagrams, etc with literally four mouse clicks. No Apple product has anything this advanced in creating wonderful looking 3D art work. I have even looked at OmniGraffle and others for this feature.
Where can I find something that works as well?

I was thinking...(maybe) there was a way once you've created a smart build in keynote and set the type of transition to un-smart build them maintaining the layering and transitions...if this were possible, then this would be enough to export to powerpoint and not have to do it manually.

The HP PhotoSmart 5514 is on Apple's list of AirPrint printers, so it should work. <iOS: AirPrint 101>
One problem might be that your WiFi router does not correctly handle Bonjour data required by AirPrint. Contact the router's manufacturer to see if there is a change to its setup or a firmware update that will solve the problem.
I had a printing problem several months ago, where the WiFi had jumped to a neighbor's WiFi that happened to have the same name. There are a LOT of WiFi routers out there named "Linksys"!

I am trying to install BW statistics and all the good things that come with it for BI7. Following the instructions in a document that I was directed to on this site, in SBIW, I installed and replicated all the datasource in under TCT tree (Technical content)
The instruction is for versions prior to BI7 and I had to make modifications as I go.
Now, this instruction direct me to go to:
rsa1, Bi Content (left) and then InfoProviders by InfoAreas and select all InfoProviders for the InfoAreas BW Statistics and BW Metadata under the node Technical Content.

In BI7, there is no BW Statistics and BW Metadata infoareas under Technical Content if I follow the directions strictly.
What is the equivalent of this in BI7?

In the instructions, the author continues to collect these InfoAreas from under Technical Content:
BW Data Slice
BW Features characteristics
BW Metadata
BW Statistics
In BI7, do we need exactly these? Or, now different? Should I just transfer all the infoareas under Technical Content? What is the disadvantage of collecting a ALL?

I am trying to write a vi that interfaces with a piece of OEM equipment that is set up to talk with a VT 100 terminal. I can't seem to locate the ASCII equivalent string (if there is such a thing) of a CTRL D. Is there a vi that emulates VT 100 commands?

If I recall, CTRL-D is EOF on most ASCII tables.
You'd probably have to use an escape sequence
or if you can use an unsigned 8-bit that might be
easier.
