Is there virus protection on my ipad

Is there virus protection on my ipad?

Amazon does not run its business on iPads. The fact that a virus is rumored to have been used to hack Amazon is not relevant to a discussion or whether there are viruses that affect unjailbroken iPads. There are currently no know viruses that affect unhacked iOS devices.
The Blackhole virus didn't "hack Amazon", by the way. It uses an email that is faked to look like it came from Amazon.
I'd say you should stop worrying but I doubt you will.

There are no viruses for iOS currently.
iOS employs security features built into it-mainly sand boxing.
You can not download apps from the Internet, apps cannot make changes to the core system or system wide, apps can access data inside the app itself and a very limited set outside itself.
Sand boxing also prevents AV software from working in iOS.
You can't scan the device from the AV software because it can't access the other apps or their data.

  • Is there virus protection for the iPad

Is there virus protection for the iPad2, and if not will there be any in the near future.

Virus protection will be available as soon as someone writes the first Virus for iOS.

  • Is there virus protection software avaliable for Mac osx intel

is there virus protection software avaliable for Mac osx intel?

Plenty, but none of them really necessary. 10.6.8 has it's own in-built system. Just keep the security updates up to date to cover the latest malware quarantine definitions.

  • Virus protection necessary for ipad?

We just got an ipad and were wondering if it's necessary to have some sort of virus protection for it.  Anyone know?

This may be something new - I visited a Tumblr about an hour ago (1030PM PST), and when I tried to access my own Tumblr site on both Safari and Chrome, it kept getting redirected to a **** site.  I tried googling my tumblr URL, and a redirect to a **** site kept coming up.  When I opened the AppStore on my iPad, it immediately went to some kind of gaming app, and wouldn't let me do anything else.
I wiped the iPad clean, and I'm restoring it now from my computer as I'm writing this post.
Anyone know of any security apps yet?

Do you need virus protection for your ipad mini ?

In addition to that, jailbreak void your warranty, will prevent you from geting any support from Apple or these forums plus open your iPad to all kinds of malware.

Nope, chances of you getting any malicious software on an iPad are 0.

  • HT2311 Is there a virus protection for the apple iPad and iPad Air and iPhone 5 that we need to use for security?

Is there a virus protection for the apple iPads including the iPad Air and the iPhone 5, and if there is, how do we download it into our apple products? With everything that is going on it seems like I'm having more problems with freezing and crashing, getting kicked off my sites more often then ever! Is there a way to stop this?

There is no known malware capable of infecting an iOS device, unless it has been jailbroken. Due to the security that prevents malware, real anti-virus software on iOS is not possible, so none exists.
As to the problem, I'm unclear on exactly what you're seeing. What exactly does it mean to get "kicked off your sites?"

  • Is there a virus protection software available for the ipad 2?

IS there any form of virus protection softward available for the ipad 2? Have seen AVG etc for ipad 2 talked about.

It's not strictly correct to say there are no viruses or to be more accurate 'malware' for i-devices as there are
There isn't. Provide links/proof if there are.
If you really are an admin for McAfee then you should know what a virus is, and that there are none for iOS. If there were a virus for iOS it would be all over the news. It is also true to say there is no malware for stock iOS devices. If you've jailbroken your device, then maybe so, but you've purposefully put yourself at risk.
hence the last 2 iOS updates which were patching various vulnerabilities.
Yes, just like any OS, there have been vulnerabilities that, potentially, could be used for malware purposes, but iOS has been available for over 4 years and still not one virus or malware breakout. If you knew anything about the way iOS works, and how apps get approved, installed and run, you would know why a virus is virtually impossible, and even a trojan is very unlikely.
Apple has a policy of never discussing security issues as they like to pretend that their products are totally immune, but they aren't.
Like lots of companies, Apple don't discuss security vulnerabilities BEFORE they are fixed, because that would be irresponsible and make it easier for hackers to exploit. Apple have never pretended their products are totally immune. Use your brain, if Apple thought their products were immune, why would they release regular security updates?
Companies like McAfee make money out of spreading FUD and making people believe they have to fork out lots of money for so-called "protection" that in most cases they don't need and doesn't work for unknown issues anyway. And now they're trying to prey on uninformed Windows users, who after years of being subjected to the real threat of viruses and malware now think they need the same for iOS devices.

  • There is no mention of virus protection in any of the guides or tutorials.  Do I need to get virus protection?  If so, what do you recommend?

Does the IPad require virus protection?what do you recommend?

Unless you jailbreak your device, there's really no way to expose the vulnerabilities of iOS (apps are tightly controlled and run pretty much sandboxed for the most part). Welcome to Apple land where compared to other mainstream platforms, you are relatively safe from things such as a virus.

  • Do you need virus protection on IPAD 2

Do you need virus protection for IPad 2?

You don't need antivirus or security software as long as you don't Jailbreak your iPad.
Currently there's no known virus affecting iPad.

Does iPad have virus protection when sending or receiving e mails?

You can purchase an email attachment virus checker from the app store, but there is no means for an attachment you receive to infect your iPad. If you decide to by the app I refenced be sure to closely read the app description and some reviews.

  • HT201413 I' new to iPads, does my iPad have it's own virus protection installed, or is it my pc's that is the protection?

I'm new to iPads and want to know if my iPad has it's own virus protection, or is it my pc protection that is used. We have been spammed and
I'm not sure what or how it happened? Any suggestions?

No, it does not. It does not need virus protection.
SPAMming has nothing to do with virii. It is email to an email account.
Your iPad simply looks at the email account on the server, same as your computer does.
