Is there way to share Air-Port Wi-Fi connection through ethernet port?

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this, I have wireless network in the building, and is there way to configure Mac Mini to share Air-Port Wi-Fi connection through ethernet port (feed Vonage adapter)?

Have you actually shared wi-fi to ethernet on a Mac? I ask because it is not usually that simple, it is a more complicated configuration. Most folks who do it the way you described get a self assigned IP and nothing connects.

I have a Vonage phone adapter and Vonage does not provide the info that you need to hand configure these boxes, I have tried in the past with the one I have with a US phone number from here in Mexico.

  • Airport Extreme and connecting through ethernet port to Windows XP Pro SP3

    I have today had the sad experience to loose network connection to My Windows XP Pro SP3 using the ethernet port on Airport Extreme Base station, the newest one.
    It seems it won't pass an IP address for XP using DHCP, and to make things worse My wireless access using My is working okay!!!
    Why do I only have this problem through ethernet ports on the Airport Extreme Base Station for XP, but wireless connectivity for My Mac's works????
    If others have similar problems and have found a solution please let Me know.
    Yes, I have twice today contacted My ISP provider but as the Mac's can connect the problem seems to lie with the Airport Extreme Base Station.
    I will check this forum tomorrow and hopefully a response has been given to solve My problem

    You can access the AirPort Disk via normal file-sharing connection options, such as selecting the server from any Finder window’s sidebar in the Shared section. AirPort Disk uses two standard methods: AFP (for Macs) and Samba (for Windows or Linux).
    Leopard accesses AirPort Disks through the Finder, just like any other network volume. Open any Finder window, and look in the sidebar for a list of servers in the Shared section. You should find your AEBSn.
    To mount an AirPort Disk volume, follow these steps:
    1. Select the AEBSn in the Sharing section of the sidebar.
    2. To connect as a Guest user, you need take no more steps; To use a named account, click the Connect As button in the upper right and enter your credentials.
    3. Double click a volume that’s shown to mount it on your system.
    For both Windows XP and Vista, open the network browser by double-clicking Network on the Desktop. The base station name should appear in the Network browser.

  • WRT-54GL: DSL Modem won't work in Internet port, but works in other ethernet ports. Help?

    To begin, IP addresses for ALL devices on my network are static and manually assigned, no DHCP, in case that matters at all. My problem is that when I plug my DSL modem into the Internet port on the back of my router it doesn't even see the modem and obviously I can't get on the internet. However, I can plug the modem into any of the other Ethernet ports on the router and it sees the modem just fine and I can use the internet. I don't quite understand this. It hasn't caused any problems at all, but I find it strange. This problem has existed with both the stock firmware as well as Tomato firmware. What can I do to get my modem to work through the Internet port instead of the regular ethernet ports? Please take into consideration that I am using the latest Tomato firmware. Thanks all!

    Press the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. The Power light will start flashing. Turn the Router and the Modem OFF. Turn the modem ON first, wait for 10 seconds, turn the router ON, wait for 10 seconds, you should be ONLINE !!!

  • Is there any way to share my Mac's internet connection with my iPod as I can't turn on the wifi on my iPod?!

    When I restored and updated to IOS 6.1.3, my wifi on my iPod Touch 4th Gen greyed out and I can no longer use it.
    Is there any way to share the connection of my mac using the USB cable or Bluetooth?

    How did you try to contact them? In any case, an Apple Store is the best way to handle any problems with an iPhone when you have a store in your area. The Apple Store will certainly be able to handle the problem one way or another. Most likely they'll just replace the iPhone, though if you're out of warranty the replacement will not be free.

  • TS5254 Hi, is there a way to share my Macbook's internet connection to my iPhone via USB?

    I want to share my Macbook's internet connection to my iPhone. I thought the internet sharing via iPhone USB would do the trick but I can't seem to get it working.
    Issue arose because my iPhone wifi capabilities seem to have died (Wifi switch is greyed out and I can't switch it on), read a solution online that says I may have to restore my phone, however it requires me to turn off Find My iPhone, which I cannot do without an internet connnection. The only option being using the internet sharing function...
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I thought the internet sharing via iPhone USB would do the trick but I can't seem to get it working.
    Thats because what you're tyring to is not possible.  Internet sharing is for sharing the phones cellular connection over wifi, not the other way around.
    which I cannot do without an internet connnection.
    Is there a reason why phones standard cellular connection doesn't work for you?

  • Share Airport Connection to Ethernet port in BRIDGE mode?

    I've been trying to do this for a while now, but I haven't been able.
    I have the modem form my ISP hooked to a Airport Express configured in BRIDGE mode, thus creating a wireless network for my home with "live" IPs for all the computers (yes... I know the security risks...).
    My G4 (across the room) gets Internet from it's Airport Card and I configured the Share Internet preference pane to "Share the Internet Connection from the Airport to the Ethernet Port", so I can create (...extend, really) a WIRED network from my G4's Ethernet Port.
    The thing is that I want this wired network to have also "live" IPs, but the Airport Card always has the "Distribute IP Addresses" (or it's equivalent, from the Airport Admin Setup) activated, so it provides a 192.168.X.X network and I can't find a way to turn that off.
    In other words, I want it to acts as a BRIDGE and not as DHCP Server.
    Anyone?
    TIA

    I was trying to use IPNetShareX to configure it, but I didn't find a way. I'll keep looking...

  • Is there way to logout databasesession without closing dedicated connection

    Dear folks,
    I am using databasesession to do db operations.For some purpose,after we logout session,we want to re-use jdbc connection again.I am using the following way:
    DatabaseSession session = getProject().createDatabaseSession();
    session..getLogin().setConnector(MyConnector());
    session.login();
    snippet of MyConnector:
    public Connection connect(Properties properties) {
    try {
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
    conn =
    DriverManager.getConnection(getConnectionURL(),
    getConnectionUserName(), getConnectionPassword());
    } catch (Exception e) {
    // TODO
    e.printStackTrace();
    return conn;
    As everyone know,calling session.logout() will internally close the connection.Then,is there way for me to do?

    1. Press Windows key+D
    2. You should have a "Show Desktop" icon in your Quick Lauch toolbar next to the "Start" button. Sometimes the "Show Desktop" icon goes missing according to some, but I have never experienced that.

  • Cannot share wireless network through ethernet port??

    I have not been able to get it to work.. 1.5 g4 powerbook ..My ethernet port does not seem to be sending out IPs.. I was able to do this with my dads 867.. i dont understand why its not working?? I go in the contol panels and click on sharing and go through the steps.. still nothing.. is anyone else having problems getting this to work??? i know its a rare config..

    I have a problem similar to yours
    I have tried everything to figure out why the ethernet connection never works on this new used computer. It is able to connect over the airport with the other computer, but that connection is too slow, so I would like to use the ethernet. The computers don't see eachother.
    I use the same ethernet cable to connect my other computer (500 MHz PowerPC G4) to the airport base. I use it to connect my ibook to the G4, It always works. But it has never worked once with this iMac.
    I have made sure filesharing is on, I tried not using firewall at all, appletalk is on and set for ethernet. I have tried other little things and nothing has helped. The only thing I haven't tried yet is getting a new cable. But it works with everything else, so I don't beleive that will help. Is it possible that this new used iMac doesn't have a working ethernet port? I would ask the previous owner but he died.

  • Trying to connect 2nd printer through Ethernet Port of AEX b/g

    Hello all, Hello (maybe) Duane,
    I do have a 2nd Airport Express b/g on our home network, and have a normal laser printer running as a wireless bonjour printer through that 2nd AEX, which is set up as a remote base station. I do have the Ethernet port free on that AEX, and want to connect a Brother 4040cn network ready color laser printer through the Ethernet port of this base station and use it as a bonjour printer? wirelessly... The AEX is set up as a remote base station to the main base station using WDS... I read a lot that the ethernet port only works when this station is in WDS mode - it is, but I still can't get it to work...
    I talked to a guy at the Apple Store and he told me it should work, and that I somehow have to configure the Ethernet port of the AEX as a bridge so that could work.... ? It is not a supported solution (as expected...) so I tried to find that, but I am not able to work it out.
    I can see the printer using the brother software, it shows me the status of the printer correctly, but I cannot get any printouts. The printing windows shows the printer, even lets me pick it as a bonjour printer, sends it off to the printer, but nothing arrives at the printer... I can use the web based printer management utility, which directly connects to the using the IP address, and can send stuff that is printed out, but i cannot get it working.
    Hope that makes sense - anyone out there able to help?
    Ningaloo

    Hello,
    If you wanted to setup a wireless network, you could look at some Wireless Ethernet USB adapters (will work just like the AirPort):
    http://www.afterthemac.com/
    Understand that the "AirPort" is just Apple's fancy name for Standard WiFi Networking. It's not anything special. Just Apple's implementation.
    So, any WiFi Ethernet Adapter is going to be compatible with Apple's Airport network.
    If you want to use the standard USB to Ethernet adapters, then you could look to see if you can find a suitable driver that will either enable your adapter (the one you just purchased) to work, or perhaps find an adapter that has a 3rd-party driver and then purchase that one. The following website lists Mac OS drivers that will enable "Windows-Only" adapters to work:
    http://www.sustworks.com/site/newsusbethernet.html
    The problem there, is that most USB to Ethernet (not wireless) adapters come only with Windows drivers. So, this website provides information and support to make those devices with with Mac OS X.
    Otherwise, I have not found a pre-packaged USB to Wired Ethernet device that comes with Mac drivers.
    But, the first website lists lots of USB to Wireless Ethernet adapters that come with Mac Drivers.
    I hope this helps.

  • Connecting via ethernet ports on an AEBS that is extending a wifi network

    I tried to get this out on the subject heading (trust me guys I searched the forums first but I couldn't quite find this issue)...
    I have a Airport Express connected via ethernet to a network. I am trying to use an AEBS to capture that connection and then share it via ethernet ports (LAN?) to a PC that has no wifi card.
    I setup the AEBS to extend the existing airport express wifi and that worked fine and I can connect to it fine via wifi on my laptop. But the pc that is plugged into the AEBS via ethernet is not able to connect.
    Thoughts?

    In order to enable the Ethernet ports on the 4G Extreme for the Mac Pro, both AirPorts need to be configured for an extended network. Please read through the steps provided in the link to see if you may have missed any steps.

  • Error in people search when connecting through ldaps port

    Hello,
    I am getting following error when doing windows people search through ldaps port(636).
    The specified directory service could not be reached.
    The service may be temporarily unavailable or the server name may be incorrect.
    It is working fine when i am connecting thro ldap port.
    Could any one help me in this regard
    -mala

    Just setting the port in the console does not enable SSL. Do you have a certificate installed on that instance? If so, does your ldap client have that certificate (or its CA certificate) as a trusted cert? If not, you may need to run certutil to create/update the client certificate database.

  • Sharing internet through ethernet port

    I'm sharing internet through my ethernet port to my other computer but so far it appears that it only works for web browsing. Is their something I can do (open a port or something) so the other computer can use the shared internet for more than just web browsing, like use ichat, Mail, or Dashboard?

    Yes the firewall is on. Do I have to turn it completley off or can I just open a couple of ports?

  • Is there a difference between the Ethernet WAN port and the other 3 Ethernet Ports on a Time Capsule?

    As posted previously, my time capsule will not set up properly because I get an IP address conflict pop up window.  Is there a difference between the "Ethernet WAN Port" and the other three ports on the back of the Time Capsule?  I may have the DSL modem hooked into the "Ethernet WAN Port".  Thanks.

    it depends what you want to achieve and what configuration you have on your DSL modem/router.
    Resetting TC and run connection wizard from the Airport utility.

  • Share my Mini's Internet connection over Ethernet?

    Hi there,
    My Mini is currently connected over wi-fi to my broadband connection. Next to my Mini is my TV. My TV is soon to be able to receive the BBC's iPlayer as I use Freesat (http://freesat.co.uk). The TV has an Ethernet socket with which I will need to connect to the Internet.
    Can I use my Mini's Ethernet and ultimate wireless connection to provide my TV with an Internet connection?
    I've just been investigating things in the Sharing section of Sys Prefs and I get a warning come up when I select Share from Ethernet and Share To Ethernet about my ISP cutting me off... I' with BT in the here in the UK - so not a cable provider, just an old fashioned copper wired ADSL line. Is the warning to be heeded or ignored?
    Many thanks

    Gotcha - many thanks.
    Incidentally, am I able to set up my Xbox in the same way (assuming that I wouldn't have the TV connected at the same time as the Xbox).
    Thanks,
    Tom
