Is there Wireless Capability built into the eMac?

Can someone tell me if there is Wireless Capability built into the eMac? I would like to use it wireless from my Linksys router. If it is built in, where would I look to set it up? Thank you.

You have the eMac from 2002, right? You will need a "classic" AirPort card that looks like THIS:

The eMacs made between 2003-2006 use the faster AirPort Extreme card. I had an eMac that recently bit the dust, but I salvaged the AirPort Extreme card that I got with it (ordered a 1.42 GHz eMac to replace it, so this AirPort Extreme card should come in handy).

For the Internet, you should set up a router on your modem, this router will route the packets to any device on the local area network.
If you use the iMac as a router, like if you connect the Ethernet cable from your modem to the iMac, then broadcast a Wifi signal, the iMac will have to remain on all the time, at full power. Thus drastically shortening it's lifespand.
A router is only about $100 or so, offers much better security as it's like a large guard, someone has to hack through router first to get your iMac or other devices.
If it breaks, you buy another 5 years later for another $100, so your not placing all that always on wear and tear on your expensive iMac.
Apple's airport routers are pretty good, easy to set up and have automatic firmware updates, plus music sharing etc.
Set up properly you will be very secure

  • How much RAM is built into the current Airport Extreme?

How much RAM is built into the current Airport Extreme (5th Gen)?

The only RAM that's likely onboard is whateve is used by the hardware and would be soldered to the board. One would need to disassemble it in order to determine what if any RAM is on the board. There is no user-accessible RAM.

  • Program to STRIP TITLE (Bulk strip)/edit name inside a MP4 (aka metadata built into the mp4)

Ive got a BUNCH of MP4's that have the PROGRAM name (EPISODE 1 EPISODE 2 etc) Built into the metadata of a MP$, is there a BULK PROGRAM (batch) that can strip the METADATA out of a MP4 instead of doing it one by one ? I DO HAVE FREE TEXT BLOCKS REPLACER but I use that to strip the title names out of the XML File..... These MP4's do not yet have XML Files from the net.... I want it to show up as the NAME that the filename is called.... aka... I've ran the connection doctor and it's showing that the connection to the internet is fine
What about the connections to the mail servers?

  • So when will Apple release their own iOS file browser built into the OS? No third parties apps....

iOS devices should have a native file brower app built into the OS... (It's hard to believe that Apple iOS devices can't read files from a Apple Time Capsule, right out of the box.) A iOS Finder should be preinstalled on all iOS devices. This is one feature that all other OS such as Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Mobile have preinstalled on their own devices. So when will Apple release their own iOS file browser built into the OS? Please do not over look this request...

"This is one feature that all other OS such as Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile have pre-installed. . ."
Which is why those devices don't outsell; not as popular; or as desirable as Apple's iDevices.

  • HT4260 Is it best to place a 5-port switch upstream of the bridges, or, use the 3-port switch built into the bridge?

One airport extreme as DHCP server, two more as bridges, using Ethernet,

As long as you use a Gigabit Ethernet switch, you can install the device literally anywhere you want downstream of the main AirPort Extreme router if you need more ports for Ethernet devices. Otherwise, use the Gigabit Ethernet switch that is built into the AirPort Extreme to keep things simple and minimize the extra connections that would be required using an outboard switch.
Be sure to use CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet cabling throughout the network.

How strong is the router that is built into the iMac??

Router do give some protection, but firewalls provide more security.
For more security, you should look into:

Can you give me a internetadress??
    Thanks a lot.
Software routers do not give out internet addresses. A program called DHCP gives out internet address.   Your ISP will give your router an internet protocol address.  If you have a separate router box, it's DHCP program will dish out another Internet Protocol address to your mac.

  • How to use the BD menu built into the player in Encore CS4

I cant get Encore to create a production that responds to the player Top Menu button (Panasonic Direct Navigator table). Cyberlink, which was bundled with the burner, does this by default. Place a number of videos into the production, dont create a menu, and OK!: Press the Top Menu button and the player's built in table pops up with a list of all titles.
In Encore, press the Top Menu button, and you get 'operation not allowed'. It appears that Encore requires a Title button action?, but opening the player table is not an option. There is no Title button on the remote; there is Top Menu and Popup Menu.
There's got to be a simple solution. Player menu tables have been around since DVDs.
    thanks

I'm not aware of any method to access a menu system that is only built into hardware.  My own Sony DVD does not have such a menu, and if there is none on the DVD, I get none during playback no matter which buttons I press.
The standard method is to add your own menu if you want a menu.

  • Is there a way to use the eMac as an external monitor

I haven't used my Emac for awhile, but my 17" powerbook is now having a serious display problem and I can't even see the log-in screen. I want to use the Emac as an external monitor or at least have sharing between the two machines. They are both using 10.4.11. What do I need to do to connect them?

You need to connect them via ethernet or wirelessly, plus a product such as ScreenRecycler. Conventional video in isn't available on most Macs.

  • How are the backlight built-into the macbook air 2013?

Is it built edge lit or back lit?  And i know its not using bulbs to light cause the display is too thin; so what are they using to light the monitor up?  Thanks for the help guys

The MacBook Air uses an edge-lit display in whose lighting source is physically separate from the LCD panel. It is locate along the bottom edge and pushes light into the lightguide of the display. A backlit panel would be far too thick and expensive, using current technology.
Here are a couple of pics of the edge lighting strip.

  • HT5012 Is the iphone 4 suppose to have filters built into the camera?

Hi, all of my friends have the iPhone4 and they have the filters built into their camera but I don't. I was just wondering if that's something that's suppose to be in your phone or not?

According to the quote below from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1682 the real-time photo filters in the camera are on the 4S or later:
    Camera improvements
Swipe through different camera modes – video, still photo, square aspect, and panorama
Real-time photo filters with iPhone 4S or later, and iPod touch (5th generation)
    Photos improvements
Automatically organizes your photos and videos based on time and location into Moments
iCloud Photo Sharing supports multiple contributors and videos, plus a new Activity view
    Add photo filter effects

  • 4s question about the signal built into the phone

i heard that the iphone 4s has the capability of using CDMA and GSM without having to buy a new phone? i am sure it has to be set up for it but is Verizon selling the same phone as ATT or a different model made for their service? I know the CDMA version has a tray for international communications but can i buy one at ATT and set it up on verizon?

You may be able to buy an unlokced iphone from the Apple store.
The reports I have seen, say that they will begin selling them in November.

  • Question about speakers built into the 3Gs

Hi, one of my speaker on the phone went dead is this hard ware or soft ware issue? should I reset the phone to original factory spec.? I notice this when plug the phone in to the aux in the car, it only put out music on the right speaker of the car. Any one have seen similar situation? greatly appreciated.

Thank you for enlighten me on that, and I've always thought both sides were speaker output. I think that solved all my problem. It must be the aux cable that is causing the problem. I am going to try to replace the aux cable with another one. The day before all of my speaker in the car put out sound with the iphone in operation, today the radio put out sound in all speaker but when I plug the iphone in only the right front speaker putting out sound.
