Is this a battery issue or do I need a new ipod?

I have had my Ipod mini since they first came out and use it every day. For the last few months the battery drains constantly every 2 hours so I need to keep it plugged in. Recently it's become as soon as you turn it on it will drain and turn off. Turn it back on it will drain again and turn off.....do this four times in a row it will eventually notice it has a charged battery.
Last night the darn thing turned off completely and will not turn on for anything. I've tried all the trouble shooting tips and now have it plugged into the computer.....dead.
So is this a battery needs to be replaced issue or is it a you need a new ipod issue?
should mention the top where the head set goes in is coming off as well.....over use between work and home.

I was having the same problem and found this link in another thread and followed the directions, removed the battery and when I reassembled my iPOD it worked fine and in fact it indicated a fully charged battery.

Give it a shot, you may have nothing to loose... You should be somewhat handy though.

Boot into Internet Recovery and erase the hard drive, then reinstall the OS.
That will install the original OS that the Mac shipped with. You can then register it under your AppleID and upgrade to Mavericks.

How do you know if you need a new iPod touch battery

Ok so a couple of days ago I put my ipod on the charger and it was charging but itwas starting to get really hot so I just disconnected it. When i disconnectd it it was fully charged but when i went to go use it it was only 2% left so i just it die (it was already doing that) So yesterday morning i connected it to its charger and the sign with the red battery and the lighting bolt showed up and it stayed on the charger for about three hours then when i went to go check it the same sign was there so i just took it off the charger for the day so i connected it again and its does the same i tried holding the power and homw buttons together and all it does is blink off and show the same sign does this mean i need a new one? P.S about a month ago i did drop it in water and i sat it in rice for two days and it started working just fine after.

So, where is Apple now on this iOS5 battery issue?

It's been a little while now since Apple's failed battery fix upgraded 5.0.1. How far are we from seeing 5.0.2 and, if that doesn't fix the battery drain issue, is there any chance of a general 'recal;' of some sort? I just want to be able to use my iPod Touch without having to constantly worry about the battery.
Has anyone heard if the cause of the issue has been determined?

I know that some individuals have been using the battery level indicator to extrapolate battery charge time, which is a totally bogus method for such determination. Using the indicator is such a manner is tantamount to using your car's gas gauge to calculate miles per gallon.
1. Charge overnight with an Apple wall-mount charger.
2. Operate the unit until it shuts down automatically. Ignore any low battery alerts.
3. How much total operating time did you get.

What`s wrong with it?
It can`t work if it`s not plugged. It`s supossed to be a laptop, but it depends of a socket.
I can`t turn it on if it`s not connected by the cable to the socket.
On the screen appears an icon of the battery with a "x" over it.
I don`t know what that means, but the sentence "no batteries available" says much.

Call Apple and see when they can send you a box so you can send it back. Try to get a replacement, but they can probably repair it.

Turn off bluetooth.
Turn the screen backlight down to as low as you can stand.
Turn off the keyboard backlight.
Don't visit websites that are coded using flash.
Don't view video.
You only get long run times when you use the cpu very lightly.

Ok, this has been going on for a while. Whenever I try to record my voice or any noises with the built in microphone, it plays back super quietly, even when I like yell or put it close to my mouth. Do I need a new iPod? Or is there something I can do?

- Open the Voice Memos app and see if you see movement on the VU meter needle with changes in noise level trying to be recorded.

IPhone 4S update to iOS 5.1 singal and battery issues

Hi,
I was on 5.0.1 and had no issues at all loved the phone and my battery life. Eversince I updated to 5.1 my phone signal is awful, 2 bars when I had 5 before, constantly floating, calls drop for no reason. Yesterday nobody was able to reach me until I restarted my phone. Switched phone on in the morning yesterday and I get no service for around 30 minutes, after restarting 3 times it finally found network.
On o2 got my iphone from Apple unlocked.
As to battery life I can loose around 10-20 % in 2-3 hours not doing anything just in stand by, my battery issues were solved with 5.0.1 but started again with 5.1
What is apple doing? it is to say the least frustrating as ****. Fix one thing then break another, or break 2 while fixing them. It ****** me off.
I tried to restore my phone 7 times already set up as new and still no improvement.
One more interesting issue is when you go to your purchases in App store, and click dowload and app dissapears and then reappears on home screen few minutes later once it is done downloading.
Anyone else with this kind of a issue?

It is either apple is blinded by their immense success which will not last if they keep going the direction they going. They should have more time to test their products thouroughly before they put their production line on overdrive. Company this size ignoring issues like that.
I think new Ipad will have problems as well, it seems this line up 4S and new ipad is kind of transition point to a newer devices and were made just to get something out on the market. Using same CPUs same formfactor.
My problem is I payed a fortune for it and it doesnt perform, I dont pay 600 pounds for a phone because I want to have issues with it. What they are doing is plainly ignoring these problems. Battery issue been going on since the release of the phone, going to be a year soon.
Microsoft and Apple changing places, look like microsoft going the right direction now with Widnows 8 and mobiles where as apple comes up with something like Lion which I hated and now Mountain Lion which plainly is running out of ideas and starting to implement some features from iOS, these are completely different devices. They do not need to be the same, they werent created for the same purprose.
I was on apples side all along but they are blinded by their pride in leading this revolution that they choose to ignore these issues. Relying on peoples stupidity to show off things like ipad 3 is 4x faster than tegra 3 where as in real results it came out 15% faster.
Apple get his fixed before it is too late. Scared to buy your products now!!! Good thing I didnt get iPad looking at overheating issues it is having, and also not charging from cable while in use but draining battery. No thanks

This iPhone4s battery is draining the life out of ME! Help?

I just made the jump to my first smartphone because of the iPhone 4s. So many wonderful applications and functions. Mostly Siri. I'm so dissapointed. I have only had it 3 days. The battery drains so fast, I have to charge it 2x or 3x a day. My old LG octane (yeah.. I know) Could go days.. Im seriously thinking of returning this silly phone. I was so excited, and now, I feel like crying.
I have tried everything. System resets, drain battery, charge battery, deleted apps., deleted mail account, turned off Siri, push notifications, location services, time zone, I have turned off just about everything there is to turn off! It is STILL draining. And seriously?!? Whats the point of getting a smartphone that has all these wonderful things and all these cool functions.. only to have to turn them all off!!?? Its not very 'smart', if you ask me!

This was a new phone start up. I didnt back up from iCloud.
I tried turning various things on and off to solve it with no luck.
Finally, last resort. I did these 5 things last night before bed.
1. Deleted my email account.
2. Went to settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings.
3. Completely switched phone off and restarted.
4. Drained the phone completely and then fully recharged it. When I got up this morning, it was the first time battery charged to 100%
But still have major issue: Battery has drained 13% with 1 hour usage/1 hour standby
I have Siri running
Re set-up my email account
Switch on location services and have only 3 items I want, switched on (Siri, maps, and weather)
Switched off Location-Based iAds, Setting Time Zone,
Push notifications set for (messages, phone, and reminders) everything else is off
Brightness screen is halfway

restrictions off
bluetooth off

Called Apple this morning. The tech was very curtious and sympathetic. They are sending me a new phone. I am not very optimistic, but I will try and hope for the best! I really, really love this iPhone 4s, but I really, really hate this freaking battery issue!

Good to see others have the same problem... I started with 65% this mornig at 7 am - now, after some whatsapp and aprox. 5(!) minutes of gaiming I'm down to 36% at 10 am... what's going on?
Under iOS 5 I could use it more than a day including calls, whtasapp, safari, etc etc
I already used some tips&tricks, reseted the phone - nothing helped.

GX620 Battery issue

I've had this computer since March of 09. Its a great piece of hardware for sure.
However, it has this strong battery issue where it constantly switches it out between AC and its own battery life. This is really frustrating, especially when gaming or listening to music. (constant skipping/drop in frames)
Is there another battery pack I can get, or is this an internal issue that can only be fixed by being sent in? I've been really careful with this laptop, so its frustrating that this happens.

Looks like AC power cable issue, check the cable ensure that's not bent, ensure that jack is filled well into power socket.

Weird battery issue. Any help?

Here's one some of you may have not seen. Or you have.
So my iBook totally died on me one day (CPU and Hard Drive). I was within the warranty so I sent it back, got it all fixed, and it came back to me. However, it came back with a letter saying my battery was not up to snuff. What I think they did was discharge it, because the computer would shut off if I unplugged it. Well, for about two months I just left the crappy battery in the iBook for balance and overall weight distribution. In that two months, the charge went from a constant ~98% to maxing out at around 85% or so. I finally bought a new battery, and went I went to fully charge it, the computer wouldn't display a charge over 85%, and my battery life reflected that. A month later, my battery won't charge above 66% and my BRAND NEW battery only lasts 2 hours.
Now, I'm sending my replacement battery back for a new one, but I can't help but think this is an issue with my iBook, since my new battery charged to the exact same percent as my old battery left off. I tried resetting the PMU more than once, and did the standard calibration when I first got the battery. Nothing seems to work. Is there some kind of system memory?

If the router used as an expander of the original network
has its own name and configuration, see if you can choose
it so the original source is ignored. It may not want to do this
automatically; and in some cases, it may not work at all.
Does your configuration panel for networks give you an
option to choose AirPort to be in the top of the list? Is it?
You may have to be sure the correct wireless base is
chosen and see if that setup can be adjusted to allow
the iBook better access or power for the alleged range.
Does the network you have set up give the computers a
specific 195.xxx series of IP addresses behind the router
or other different identities? Since my setup is using the
10.xx.xx sequence, and I have Apple gear, it is a little easier
to set them up to include using the Express as a repeater.
Hopefully someone with general setup experience chimes in...

701 Belle FP2 battery issue again

Phone lasted at least two days on FP1. Realizing it might need to resync battery after FP2 but it's gone through five full cycles now and still won't last 24 hours.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Battery issue still hasn't gone away. Phone will not last one full day even with minimal use. Seriously, I talk less than 20 minutes a day and otherwise do texting. There is no email syncing or any other background apps. Rarely I'll use maps and only briefly. Always wake up to a dead phone...not sure at what time during the night it dies.
Surprisingly it did last over four days in airplane mode though.

It probably needs a new battery. Check your battery info by clicking the Apple menu and select about this Mac, then either click more info or system report depending on which version of OS X you're running.
