Is this a total dead end?

I, too, am totally disappointed in Apple's radical departure from the format of Final Cut Pro 7. I use multiclipping in almost all the videos I shoot, and without this capability, which Final Cut X lacks, I have no interest in the new format. Before Apple unilaterally goes in a totally new direction in application development, one would think that they would have the consideration to make an effort  to solicit the collective opinions of people in the trenches who use a particular program before redesigning it. How many tracks of video and audio will the new program support? How many third party applications will it support? Was there a collective cacophony of discontent among users regarding the shortcomings of Final Cut Pro 7? Apple has the money and the expertise necessary to support the development of both Final Cut Pro formats. I hope they don't permanently inter the old version of Final Cut Pro into the Apple burial ground of once remarkably great applications. Does anyone remember what a fine suite Appleworks (Clarisworks) was? The old aphorism of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" rings resonant in my mind. Aristotle once wrote that "life should be a changing stability and a stabilized change." I think Apple should take this bit of wisdom and extrapolate its significance into the realm of application development. I hope others who are as disgruntled as me voice their discontent to Apple regarding the aforementioned. We don't need an IMovie 11 on steroids. This whole debacle is reminiscent of Apple's radical departure from IMovie 6, which, if I recall correctly, was not well received. I have spent considerable time, money, and effort on mastering the old version of Final Cut Pro. To simply declare it dead as an Apple representative said to me on the phone when I called on this matter is unconscionable. Shame on you, Apple!

    I'm starting to get paranoid.  Yesterday I replied to a post and today the entire thread is gone.  Threads disappear.  No spam, no profanity, no reason.  And WHY do the entire threads go instead of just the offensive post/reply?  That makes no sense.
    It just keeps getting worse instead of improving.

  • FileVault ***... It needs 4,080 GB to encript files?  Is this a joke?

    I have a 12" powerbook with a 80 GB hard drive. Thought I would activate filevault to make my files more secure. When I activate FileVault it thinks for a minute and them tells me I need 4,080 GB to complete encription. That is four thousand eighty gigibites... Is this a Joke? Is Apple now making hard drives with this much capacity? This message is beyond my comprehension. I am flabbergasted! I could go on but I am too disgusted.
    Would appreciate any insight that anybody can provide.

    This is quite a well known 'glitch'.
    Irrespective of the erroneous message I would seriously reconsider whether Filevault is right for you. Dr Smoke's page on Data Corruption has some sound advice on the subject.

    It's neitehr a joke nor a virus. You simply have a "bad" font on your system somewhere and it's whacking out the entire font list. Remove any extranuous fonts you may have added recently. If you use a font manager, check that, too.

    As Windows 8.1 just released, we may encounter many unknown problem. For your situation, please check Event Viewer if it identify this problem?
    In addition, it seems like system file corrupt, please try to use SFC /scannow
    command to fix it for test.

  • I bought Apple's 'Crazy Lab' App for £6.99 so I could watch the movies they offered straight from my iPod but all the App is letting me do is watch the trailers and rage the movies, not actually watch them? Is this a joke?

  • IdeaPad U530 Webcam - is this a joke?

    Hey guys,
    just bought a new Lenovo IdeaPad U530. I was pretty happy until I check the built in "HD Webcam".
    The quality has absolutely nothing to do with HD, I think I would have a better quality recording with a potato!
    Since it came with Windows 8.1 I had to download the gorgeous "Lenovo Settings App" (seriously?!?!?) because it was not preinstalled (!!!), so I had to sign up for a hotmail account... - I was promised by the description that I could modify the Webcam settings with it. Yeah... well, even Skype offered me more options than this app!
    One (and probably the most important) thing I was not able to change was the video quality. I googled a lot and all I could find was a few people complaining about the video quality and some blogs claiming that it is possible to modify the quality with the lenovo Communications Utility from the ThinkVantage package. When I finally got it to run under Windows 8.1, all I could modify was the Microphone volume...
    I have the latest drivers installed, I have tried everything I could find on Google, but it either does not work on Windows 8.1 or doesn't work at all.
    Dear Lenovo, please tell me that this is some kind of compatibility issue or something, because I can't really believe that you would actually title this as an "HD Webcam". The quality is plain unacceptable, but my work requires a reliable, lightweight laptop (check) with a decent webcam (fail!), because that's what I bought it for.
    I've been using and recommending Lenovo products for many years now - even the low price laptops come with better webcams!
    Or maybe you can tell me how to fix this, because after 2 days of pure frustration I'm all out of ideas.

    I have been complaining incessantly for 6 months about my broadband which has a speed
    of circa 2002 ---
    What is that powerful router for?  I phone every single week -- nothing is addressed
    I must say I am offended -- what are my rights under the contract as to termination.
    Neighbours on LESSER CONTRACT (not gold or platimum - whatever I pay - the max) get FASTER
    broadband than me -- they are also using BT.
    I just can't believe it -- the biggest mistake I ever made was choosing BT they are stifling my life.  I cannot
    watch anything do anything - work -- ebay etc is IMPOSSIBLE.
    BT completely ignore my complaints.  
    What is going on?  How do I complain if they completely ignore complaints - other than taking legal action.

    Mmmmm Just a silly example.-
    Ist Class post and Second class.... One get's there quicker than the other yet they use/have the same overheads..... 
    And Royal Mail have to do that everyday, walking/driving etc.
    With BB when it's running it's just sitting there bringing the money in. OK a bit of electricity is probably being consumed.
    So I'm on the second class BB service.
    I know that example wasn't within the same industry but as a BT strategy I bet introducing something along these lines (plus bringing the overseas call centres back to the UK), would be a "Vote Winner".
    Anyhow I'll stop hijacking this thread and let the poor chap concentrate on getting his "Dial Up" speed problem sorted. (I do hope he has had a visit from Openreach).

    Just received my iphone 5C from the AppleCare Service, and I've got a little problem.
    The display and the Battery kit have been replaced but.. when I received it.. 2 screws were missing !!
    (At the bottom of the phone, which set the screen on the back).
    Did someone have already seen this ? The phone is not supposed to be controlled ?
    I'm very disappointed to see this problem from Apple.. It used to be better.
    Now, I'm waiting the ups deliver to take my phone again and I have no phone.

  • Nokia care - is this a joke

    I just sent my lumia 800 in for 2 reasons: the battery & spots on the screen on low brightness.
    Just got it back and all they changed is the shell & camera module (which probably is part of it)
    **bleep**?! I ask for screen & battery repairs and I get a new shell? don't get me wrong. It is nice to have it scratch free, but I get the impression this is just to trick me into thinking I have a new phone.
    I am probably going to send it back again (3 times and they have to replace it if I understood well).
    Anyway, if you need more details on the person/company who did the repairs please ask. For your information I live in Paris, France.

    What about the battery? Does it use the same method as used on the screen? This is probably software issue. Your battery may be the defected one. For the screen, I think it is normal, again. Why don't you ask the Nokia Care? If the Nokia Care that you visited days ago does not have good service, go to another nearest Nokia Care. Maybe the service there is better. Anyway, good luck on your phone.

    Anyone ever get this to work on the X?  Just doesn't seem to download anything, no progress etc.

    1. If you don't like to see the bloatware on your screen, dump it to your app tray
    2. If you don't like to see the bloatware in your app tray, there are apps that will hide the icons...they're free...use them.
    3. If you're worried about the loss of memory...don't...most of them take up very little memory.
    4. If you're still not satisfied, root your phone, void the warranty, and take your chances
    5. If you STILL aren't happy....either give up on smartphones in general, or get used to it. 
    6. All smartphones have bloatware.
    7. All carriers install bloatware.
    8. Yes it's YOUR phone, but you're using it on THEIR network.
    9. YOU can say whatever you want in a call on your phone, or in messages even...THEY can install whatever bloatware they want before you buy the phone from THEM.
    As for the Madden app, I downloaded it, realized I need to use wifi for the best performance, further realized I never liked sports video games, and thus ignored it. As of now, I still love my phone, the sun came up the next morning, and I didn't even have any static cling in my laundry.  Life goes on, and there are more important issues to be upset over.

  • Is this a joke, complain by Email ?

    After calling customer services and getting wonderful call centre staff trying to guess what I'm saying and then me trying to guess their replies, I have written three letters of complaint to customer services in Tyne and Wear. I have had three replies full of platitudes and sorrow at my dissatisfaction but no meaningful answers. These letters and replies took about 6 weeks. So in todays electronic communication I asked in order to speed things up could I have an email address. The answer was " no if we gave out email addresses lots more customers would complain". It seems if EE make it harder to make a complaint so less of their customers will bother. So a company which specializes in electronic communications cannot handle compaints made though this communication method for fear of being overrun. I need to go and buy some more stamps.
