Is this a legitimate email from Apple Support?

I received the following email today from "Apple Support" and wonder if it's legitimate - they are asking for SS#, charge card information, etc.   It seems "phishy" to me....thought I'd check in on this before doing anything!

-If you established a rescue email address, there will be a link on the "Passwords & Security" page of id.apple.com.  Clicking the link will send the reset to your rescue email address (NOTE:  This is not the same address as your Apple ID email)
-If there is no link on the page, then you didn't establish a rescue email address.  Contact AppleCare at 800.694.7466 (If you are in the US), and ask for account security.  You will need to answer some questions to verify your identity, AND you will need access to a computer to generate a temporary support pin.
-If you are not in the US, click http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 - Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security

I received an email from Verizon telling me that my account is locked and to click on a link Verizon/security to unlock it.  Is this a legitimate email from Verizon.  How can I find out what this means?  My phone is working.

I have never heard of that before, if Verizon Wireless would do anything with your account they would be calling you (removed). In my opinion you should disregard the email.

    Dear

Someone just tried to sign in into your Apple account from other IP Address. Please re-confirm your identity today or your account will be Blocked due to concerns we have for the safety and integrity of the Apple Community. .
To re-confirm your Apple ID, we recommend that you go to

    Regards,
    Apple
the email address that it was sent from is [email protected]
It does look genuine in appearance, but its the email that it is sent from that concerns me???
    Any help is appreciated

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    I'd say not.
    1. Apple would just disable your account, they wouldn't send a warning first.
    2. AFAIK pipi-apple is nothing to do with Apple.
    3. The click here takes you to a fake my apple ID site in Australia.

  • I keep getting emails from Apple support about changing my password.

I keep getting emails from apple saying someone is trying to reset my password when I have not done such a thing. A couple days ago after the 4th email I decided to reset it myself just incase. Now im still getting a email from apple stating that someone is trying to reset it.

Apple do send out an email if you change your password that is genuine
You could change the password to see if the emails are genuine or phishing by getting a genuine email from Apple
No way otherwise if you cannot tell if they are genuine or otherwise

  • I received an email from "Apple Support Team" requesting email confirmation.  Is this bonafide or phishing?

Is [email protected] a bonafide address?

Delete that mail. It's spam, so you shouldn't reply to that message. Read > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4019

  • Email from apple support personnel

why is it so hard to find an email address to simply email apple support personnel and get an email back?

If this is in Safari then right-click (or press control and click) the toolbar, and choose "Customize Toolbar" from the menu that appears. You can also choose this option from the "View" menu. When the panel of toolbar options appears, drag the URL field back to the toolbar and you should be good to go.
If you want the toolbar exactly as it's default, then you can drag the "Default set" from the bottom of this panel to the toolbar, and be good to go when you click "Done".

  • "Please Insert Blank Disc" Issue - I have had an email from Apple Support

    Hello Everyone
I posted a message a little while ago about the back-up problem I am having and it looks like there are loads of other i-Pod users having the same issue. This is when i-Tunes keeps on rejecting the blank discs and asking you to insert another blank disc, ultimately meaning that you cannot back-up.
I have emailed Apple support and from the reply I got it looks like Apple know about this issue and are looking for a solution to the problem. I can only assume that this will be fixed in a future update. That said, I hope it is not to long in coming, as I have alot of purchased music not backed up.
If anyone has discovered a way to get around this problem on i-Tunes, please let us know! I know I could back up manually, but that is a real pain, as it takes ages to work out the amount of music that will fit on one CD-R, when i-Tunes normally does this for you!
    Over and out!
    Wayne

I was able to select a playlist, such as Purchased, and write it to DVD-R. It puts songs out as m4p files. I have done it (tried it) only once so far. It complained that it might take an hour to finalize the DVD but it only took a few minutes for me (only about 80 songs - sort of waste of a DVD). I think I selected "Burn playlist to disc".
I too had trouble with the backups after moving to 7.3. Worked OK in 7.2.

  • How do I stop emails from apple support communities

almost a year ago I turned to apple support communities for a Q. Now a year later long after the problem has since been resolved, I am still getting very annoying updates.  I have tried logging in and changing my preferences, but that did not stop the emails.  I tried bouncing them back...didn't work.  I tried turning to apple "contact us"  but that is not easy without coming here first...Now I fear I may be just starting a new list of emails, but here we go...STOP EMAILING ME!

The Email preferences are not the problem, they only control what will happen they have no affect on what is happening now.
You can identify the source of the email,  the community or thread, in the email. Go to that thread or community and turn off the email notification from there.
If you can'tt identify the particular thread or community from the email follow the instructions in the link King_Penguin posted.
