Is this a sign the battery is on the way out?

I got this laptop about two and a half months ago as a refurb. Apart from some dodgy RAM that I replaced it's been a great laptop. Only thing I noticed at first was the battery didn't seem to last very long. I seem to recall reading the specs that from new the battery was rated at 5 hours? I can charge the battery up fully and it'll say in the menu that it has around 4 & half hours of time, but just sitting there surfing the net seems to zap the juice away.
I think that maximum I've only ever managed to get two and a half hours out of it, maximum and that's just surfing the net, not doing anything else. However, today I was just sitting there surfing the net again, the battery was running down as usual since I hadn't charged it since the night before but it must have had at least an hour left in it. I didn't get a warning, the battery indicator in the menu wasn't displaying red. Then all of a sudden, while I was in the middle of reading something interesting, the screen turned off, then after about ten or so seconds the light on the front turned off indicating the whole thing had shutdown.
I tried to turn it back on but it wouldn't let me. I flipped it upside down and pressed the button on the battery and the first LED flickered as if the battery was empty?
I have tried to recondition the battery by emptying it completely then leaving it on charge overnight but it didn't seem to make any difference. Should I be looking to get a new battery? If they weren't so expensive I'd get a new one anyway.

I'm not so sure you have a problem. You seem to be saying you get 2+ hours to a charge? And it charges fine? This is not unusual, and your System Profiler specs look fine for battery capacity and cycle count.
The battery life quote of 5 hours is an advertising figure under atypical conditions - minimum backlight, reduced processor performance setting, no wireless wifi or Bluetooth, harddisk sleep when possible, etc. 2 hours under normal conditions seems about right to me.
The sudden shutdown without warning can happen when a battery is older and drops voltage faster than usual, or isn't calibrated. Try following the Apple battery calibration procedure:

Sometimes resetting the PMU (power management unit) and/or PRAM helps:

Resetting won't magically give you twice the battery life under typical use, but might help with the shutdown warnings and life estimate readings.

Thanks. So there's no means of knowing whether a text message has been delivered, not to mention time of delivery. Perhaps I've gone for the wrong phone. It might do a lot but seems to miss out on some basics.

Can not get web page all of the way out to edge of computer screen tried to drag but did not work

I just had that problem today and although it unfortunately probably won't help you minus47, (as you said disabling your Add-ons didn't help) I tracked my problem down to 'Fierr' as the culprit and disabling it fixed it.
To be honest I don't know why as 'Fierr' hasn't been updated since January '11 and Firefox only started playing up today.
The only other thing I updated today was Flash Player but I'm not sure if I installed it before it started playing up though.
Hopefully this might help someone else.

Files open zoomed all the way out 1x1 pixel.

All of a sudden, every time I open a new document it opens up ALL ZOOMED OUT. like 1 x1 pixel. The same when I go command-0 (fit-on-screen), instead of fitting the document to the screen it zooms it all the way out. It's driving me nuts. Same happens with all photoshop documents.

Minefield update this morning killed the zoom-out feature.

Just installed Minefield alpha yesterday and love it! This morning, I was prompted to install an update, so I did.
Now -- the zoom-out feature is missing! This is what I love about Minefield, so something went terribly wrong. How can I get it back?

Do you mean that you do not have the View > Zoom menu item?
In Firefox 4.0 you get an orange Firefox button if the menu bar is hidden.
Go to Customize > [[X] Menu Bar to make the menu bar visible or press F10.

HT5622 When I try to download an app from app store, it is asking for Cloud ID and Password.....but though i submitted correct password...it is not allowing to download....stating "Password incorrect". What is the way out...!!

Suggest a way out for download an app, when phone shows a message-----password incorrect; though i gave correct password. Even i have logged into icloud and ensured the password is correct.

You may have to either sign in to the website to confirm your account details (or do that through iTunes on the computer) or go to iforgot.apple.com to reset your password again.

the cpu voltage that is in the pix is not right as it seems.
as soon as i started turning the fsb frequency , the voltage vent back to defalt.. and i didnt do it..just did it it self.
and the defalt vpu voltage was 1,0000.
so i tryed that voltage before i did eny oc. and the computer locked good. would also say the heat of the cpu that way dropped some..
could meybe the man who had it befor me mess the voltage ?
but now as i sead it looks good so far. with the oc data above.
so what is next to realy get the compoter checked out?

That should probably be "i < end". This program seems very fragile btw. No checking if indexOf() return numbers less than zero, and ambiguous data..
To improve your code, you should use better variable names. Also, it's better to use String.valueOf(i) instead of "" + i

Okay. Here's my story. I've been buying creative products for quite awhile now. My most recent one, is X-Fi Platinum. I came on this website, and looked for help and was unsuccessful. I went on EVERY other website that had forums and support, still no answer. When I installed the card in VARIOUS PCI SLOTS, it detected the card as a VIDEO CARD and not a SOUND CARD. (wtf?!) I changed the IRQ's, still nothing. Tried wiping off the part that slides into the PCI slot with alcohol, still NOTHING. Turned off my board sound, still nothing. So, I called CL's support line and guess what? BOTH PHONE NUMBERS DON'T WORK. It's holiday time, that is unacceptable to me. How is your support line not going to work? CL must know there are some angry customers out there, and just put them on hold until a better time. I can't get any one of your reps on the phone, can't get any of you to reply with helpful info, so WTF am I supposed to do? I purchased the $200 X-Fi Platinum with the dri've bay with intentions on it working but I was WRONG. No-one replys to my posts on this stupid message board, so I took my card back and got my money. My work is very important to me, and if I can't get a nice sound I can't work. So, I declare CL a POS and I'll never deal with this company ever again. CL has wasted my time, going back and forth from store to store not only looking for a replacement, but trying to get my money back. Thanks an effing lot. Have an unhappy rest of your li'ves, and I hope MS doesn't support you all any effing more.

Ben: actually, we don't send our calls to third world countries, and are proud to be one of the few big PC-related companies that doesn't. I used to take calls right here in Oklahoma myself, and am of obvious American descent.
As for our number being down, I am 00% positi've those numbers have been working during our normal business hours since December 2th as I often help the advisors right here answering them. So you may want to look into your problems contacting us on your end rather than in ours. Perhaps your phone is malfunctioning or you are entering the numbers wrong somehow, unless you have a better explaination. If you don't believe me that our lines are up, I believe there are posts in the General forum where users have posted that they have successfully contacted our Technical Support.
I really don't know what else I can tell you other than good luck with whoever's card you aquire next.

Why doesn't my itunes show "on this iphone" all the way to the right when i select the device

When I usually connect my device and select it there's a line next to the name of my iPhone that says summery-info-apps-music-movies-tv shows-podcast-photos- and "on this iPhone" but now "on this IPhone" isn't their anymore.

I think maybe wait for a bit. Usually, on startup and installing the new OS, the assumption is that the user might not know too much, and that compatibility must be checked, which may be helpful, or not. For now, I'd say ignore it, wait until it's done its thing, then update the program that's not compatible. If you can, Mr. Brown, find out which one isn't "making nice" with Mavericks. Hopefully it'll give you a name

Siri won't open/launch any of the apps on my iPad 3 (IOS7). Siri responds to almost any other commands except this. By the way, my iPad is not jail broken. Please help.

I believe the above solution is for jail broken phones, and mine is NOT.

Freezing Macbook Pro. Graphical glitches and occasional 3 tones on start up. Hardware test shows no errors. Is it RAM or a graphics card on the way out, or software?

Recently my MacBook Pro has been freezing and showing bad graphical glitches. Multiple restarts eventually fix it and a couple of times the three tones break, three tones break warning has occurred on start up. From what I can find this is usually a RAM error but after doing a hardware check I get the response all is OK. This still happens after the check and I am unsure what the problem could be. Can anyone help? Could it be a memory issue, a hard drive issue, Graphics card issue (drivers are up to date) or is something up with the software. I also have a Bootcamp partition running Windows 7 too and this is a problem that presents itself there too.
