Is this an iPhone 3gs bug
I was playing around with my iPhone today and I press the call button with no phone numbers in the display and it called my last phone number which happened to be a missed call telemarketer's number. I hung up quickly but really it shouldn't have done this. My landline phone doesn't do this why would I want my iPhone to do it. This happens occasionally when I'm in Safari with 111-1111 which isn't a phone number at all but when you click on it it dials; very strange. Apple should address this by some type of confirm prompt so I don't accidentally dial someone I don't intend to call.
When you hit call it displays the last number called. When you hit it again it calls that number.
Most cell phones I have had do this or very similar.

How to fix error charging is not supported with this accessory (iphone 3gs)
how to fix error charging is not supported with this accessory (iphone 3gs)?
This can mean there is some dirt, lint, or foreign material in the iPhone's dock connector port and it doesn't take much, or the dock connector port has damage with the pins or there is some moisture damage.

Will someone please answer this, major iPhone 3GS problem.
SOMEONE ANSWER ME!!!!!!
I am almost about to give up hope with this. I have posted FOUR questions with no answers, so someone please answer this one.
My iPhone 3GS has never been jailbroken. A couple of months ago now, the bottom half of my iPhone screen became unresponsive so I thought I would try to restore it to see if it would make it alright again. Worst mistake of my life. It is now stuck in recovery mode and will not come out, for anything. I have had various different error messages, i've tried everything. All the software programs, holding home and power and whatever else. Nothing. When trying to restore it, it will come to the last part of the bar and fail. Every single time. I really could do with some help on this one. Please.Take a look at this link, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 It's look like your iPhone needs to be repaired, the digitizer is damaged and it could be causing the problem of not letting your iPhone completely restore. Take your iPhone to your nearest Apple store.

We're sorry we are unable to continue with your activation at this time iphone 3gs
i updated my iPhone 3gs to latest iOS 6.0.1 from iOS 4.1 but i'm stuck on Activation. and then i found a solution i deleted lockdown folder from root/var/root/library now my iPhone is not showing activation screen but when i connect my iPhone to my iTunes it gives me an Error "we're sorry we are unable to continue with your activation at this time".
Where, exactly, did you get the phone?
The term "factory unlocked" has no meaning. Apple does not use that term anywhere. iPhones are either locked, unlocked (either purchased directly from Apple or in a country where all iPhones are unlocked) or unlocked by the original carrier.
If you purchased a "factory unlocked" phone from an unauthorized source, or you went to a shop or a web site and had it "factory unlocked", it was hacked. Not legitimately unlocked. -
We're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time.
iphone 3gsThat's almost always a symptom of a phone that was hacked to unlock it, and then updated or restored.

I followed these directions posted by Pilates-Contrology. His/her tips seemed to work for everyone else.
Any ideas?
Did you try this? Found this in several places and it works for me
1. Quit iTunes.
2. Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right Click "Command Prompt" -> "Run as Administrator")
3. Once in the command prompt, type "netsh winsock reset" and hit ENTER.
4. Reboot your machine.
5. Restart iTunes.

If I continue to hold it, the logo turns into connect to iTunes. I do this, no response from iTunes. -

I know a lot of people have posted on here about issues they are having but I don't have time to go through all of them so I just wanted to make whoever aware of my problems in hopes for a fix in the next update.
So far what I have noticed is that,
-Some apps open and close right away then when they do finally open they don't load
-Poor battery life
-Have had to do a soft reboot many times over the past few days because the phone freezes
-Will not connect to 3G in spots where 3G previously had a full signal
-Wireless has been getting 2/3rd of a signal even when I am standing right next to the wireless router
Overall a very poor update and I wish I could go back to the previous one.I have experienced very similar problems since the 3.1 "upgrade".
I addition I have noted a general slowing down of the speed of the phone, opening apps, opening email and SMS apps, jittery and slow, then it s ok.
I remain convinced that the phone is doing something (stuck in some kind of loop) that slows it down and even (on two occasions) gets it hot. -

i've just spent a fair amount of money on this new iphone 3gs that i purchased 5 days ago..yesterday i was playing a few songs through the speakers on it, not with headphones. then all of a sudden it just stops playing.. my speakers stopped working, i tried ringing my iphone off my house phone to see if that worked, but no sound. then about 2 hours later it started working again?
i thought ok.. maybe something went wrong. But then today it happened again?
Could there be a default in my speakers or something?
please help
Thanks jack...same problem here: brandnew 3GS, and it regularly stops playing all sounds. I checked the headphone socket, knowing this is a common problem, but not in this case. resetting the iphone doesn't help either, a complete restore brings the sound back, but only temporarily. A few times it stopped the sound, when I changed the email-display-settings, and two times while videorecording. Does anybody have a clue, what software-issue could be the problem, or how to prevent the reoccuring complete loss of sound ? Having to make a restore to get the sound back is a bit of a pain...

How to fix No service after up date ios5 for iPhone 3GS
Update my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5 looks like it up dated fine but now phone has on service how do I fix this.
My iPhone 3gs was doing that after I updated also. I believe I may have fixed mine. I did a backup to iTunes, then I did a reset through iTunes (takes forever) then after that was done I right clicked where it says my phone in iTunes and hit Restore from backup, it is very important that you do not let the computer go to screen saver or to sleep during this process, I eventually had to change my computer's setting for this because it interrupts the process. And voila! It fixed mine, and I got to keep all my media, except the ringtones, they will have to be re set to your contacts individually, if you had them like that in the first place! Hope this helps!!! An now I haven't noticed any irregular battery drainage!

i have a iphone 3gs that every time i try restore my iphone a error message come up it said unable to restore iphone because of error (1) what dose this mean pls help me i have try every thing.and it get all the way to the point of restoring firmware and then that error pops up what is firmware and how do i fix this problem. this is the first time i have owed a iphone.
depends on what you have
do you have vista, 7, or xp
firmware is like the iphones security that helps run programs
Firmware is the name given to the set of programs that are an integral part of the operation of a computer’s hardware. They enable to hardware to function properly and allow software to run on the hardware.
It is called firmware because it’s not software (i.e., the programs that users run on the computer), but it’s also not hardware (the physical objects that make up the computer).
On the iphone, firmware is the set of operations and tools that sit between the hardware that the phone uses and the software that runs on the phone. It enables features, fixes bugs, and attends to the functioning of the phone.
Periodically, Apple releases firmware updates to add new functionality to the iphone, correct problems with it, and close security holes. -
after unlocking over the phone from ATT and resetting iphone 3gs I keep getting the same error message "could not activate phone" neither Apple Store Tech or ATT were able to fix this .
Itunes displays a message saying "there is no SIM installed in the phone you're trying to activate" even if there is the same SIM that was working minutes before.
The SIM works on a different phone I tested it.
Any ideas?? TKS Sandro“Could Not Activate EDGE” error message Update ...
Well it’s going on day 6 and still sporadic to no EDGE on my iPhone. At one time, it was thought to be a defective iPhone – since my partner’s iPhone works just fine.
After over three hours on the land line with AT&T and Apple, I was sent to the local Apple store for a replacement. Of course, as soon as I walked into the Apple store my iPhone worked just fine. ;-( The local store replaced my iPhone and suggested I go home and activate the phone as a NEW iPhone, that way if there was a bug in my data it would not carry over to the new phone. Did that and well… still sporadic to no EDGE. By the way, I have the Big White “E” to the right of the 5 bars and AT&T .
AT&T said last week they has “Software” issues in my area, but the CSR I talked to did not know what the issues were or if they were the cause of my problems. He did say they would call me back today to see how my iPhone was doing, but alas, no call back.
When I’m next to my partner, trying to access the same feature, his iPhone is just so fast. Mine hangs up, draws out and finally I get the error message, “Could Not Activate EDGE”. I am updated to version “1.1.4(4A102)”. New (refurbished) iPhone direct from Apple.
I remember reading a while back about some problems others had when they upgraded to from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4. I never had those problems, but it sure looks like they may have started. Does anyone remember what the problems with 1.1.4 were, what was done if anything to correct them, and best of all any suggestions?
By the way, this is Seattle, not some small – out of the way place where connection and signal strength is expected to be second rate. Also, I had full function of my iPhone from the day I bought it in June 2007, all the way up to Thursday March 20, at 2120.
Thanks

Bug? IPhone 3GS and iPad 1 running 4.3 only see one Home Sharing device
I have Home Sharing setup on a Mac mini, a MacBook Pro, an Apple TV, an iPad 1 and an iPhone 3GS. All versions are current (iTunes 10.2.1, iOS 4.3). All devices can see each other, except in the iPod application. The iPod application on either the iPhone or the iPad will only show the Mac mini or the MacBook Pro, and is not consistent as to which is visible. Launching the Remote app on either device detects the Mac mini, the MacBook Pro and the Apple TV, so the computers are definitely advertising their libraries. Has anyone else seen this? It seems like a bug to me.
In case someone finds this in a search down the road, here's the problem:
When I setup my Mac mini I copied the library from my MacBook Pro as a starting point. Because of this, I also copied the unique ID of the library. My iOS devices were differentiating devices based upon ID, rather than name, so they looked like the same device. I deleted the library off my Mac mini, reimported the songs, and I'm good now. -
