Is this an unusual Auto factory connection for iPhone
For the last 10 years or so cars came equipped with a 3.5 mm jack and a “AUX" button on the radio so that one could connect an iPod / iPhone.
However, recently I rented a new 2014 car that did not have this. Instead, it had 3 RCA jacks, Left, Right, and Video. Is anyone familiar with this? Do I now need a different type of cable in case I come across this again?
What kind of car is this?
It was a 2014 Ford Expedition. I looked a long time for the 3.5 mm jack, (got help from the rental people also) in the end, I rented a different vehicle, a Nissan SUV. It had the familiar 3.5 mm jack.
This is my first experienced since around 2005 not finding a 3.5 mm jack on a car.
My personal vehicles, have a lightning cable built-in for audio and charging purposes. I'm just trying to be prepared for rental cars in the future.

when i try and open itunes a memo pops up saying "itunes could not connect to this iPhone. This device is no longer connected" my iphone is not plugged into my mac so i dont know why its mentioning an iphone nor why i cant open my itunes library?
Each time you connect your iPhone to iTunes, you need to eject it before closing iTunes by clicking on the little "eject" icon shown in iTunes. It seems that sometime in the past, you did not do that.
I'm not sure how to undo the previously done damage, but maybe a reboot of your Mac would help. -

Well, you've got a real mess on your hands with no easy solution. See, you're gonna have to go back to Spain to activate your phone on Orange's network, then request Orange to unlock it. You won't be able to do anything with that phone but use it as a paperweight until you do so. And no, Apple can't help you, nor can anyone here. Good luck.

I have a classic, several years old.
It will not recharge; the Apple logo flashes every few seconds then disappears.
I have tried the 'reboot' advice i.e. move the Hold switch on and off, hold the Menu and Center buttons, no success.

Contact the seller because the iPhone seems to be not unlocked. Only
the Carrier to which the iPhone is locked can unlock it. If it is an AT&T
iPhone, return it or sell it because AT&T will not unlock for anyone

How to Disable Auto BT Connect with iPhone (iPod) to Ford Sync
One of the great combined features of my iPhone 3GS and my Ford's Sync system is that if I have Bluetooth enabled, I can step into my car, the iPhone and Sync connect, and it automatically starts streaming music over Bluetooth from the iPhone's iPod app via Sync to the vehicle's audio system. Uses a LOT of power, and if I don't select a playlist, it will just start playing anything and everything in my library in no particular order. Generally speaking, it is very cool and works flawlessly.
The problem is, on those days when I do NOT want to play music from the iPhone, or drain the iPhone's battery too quickly when I'm out on the road, it doesn't matter. It still tries to connect, I have to manually go into the iPod functionality of the iPhone, and pause the playback, evidently there's no way to just the iPod app/functionality off temporarily. Then I forget, leave the car, come back, and have to do the same thing. Sometimes, I completely forget about this, but the iPhone doesn't. Even if Sync is turned off, the iPhone will continue playing, streaming to nothing, and unnecessarily running the battery down.
I need to keep Bluetooth on so that I can make handsfree calls when traveling. Sync doesn’t seem to have a feature or function that would allow me to connect when I want to, versus this standard "automatic" connection. I’ve tried switching Sync sources, etc. , doesn’t matter, when the iPhone senses a Bluetooth connection, it just wants to play music via the iPod app. And there doesn’t seem to be any setting for iPod or Bluetooth on the iPhone that will fix this situation as well.
Anyone have any ideas here? Very much appreciated in advance, thanks.I, too, hate this. Another thread said to switch audio source to line-in, but I haven't verified if it works.

Updated to 5.1 this weekend and lost wifi connectivity on iPhone 4 and Ipad 2
This weekend I updated my iPhone 4 (AT&T) and iPad 2 (Verizon 3G, wifi) to 5.1. Since the update (went flawlessly), I have been unable to connect to wifi networks anywhere. All that I get is the continuously running circle that shows it is trying to connect (but never actually does). I have RESET all Network connections numerous times, did the 'Forget this' connection on everything, etc. They will no longer connect to places that I have always connected to (Home network, CLE Airport, Hilton, Work, etc...). I can connect to all networks fine with my laptop and blackberry, but I just get the constant connection circle with my iPhone and iPad 2. Can anyone offer any other advise?
I have tried:
1. Reboot (Soft)
2. Reboot (Hard (Home and Power button)
3. Forget WiFi connection
4. Reset Network Connections
5. Tried 6 different Wireless (wifi) networks that I have always been able to connect to with no luck.
6. Airplane Mode with wifi on...
7. Turned 3G off...
Desperately awaiting some assistance, I do not have cell connections in our facilities or the hotel, so basically have a useless device right now!I have the same problem with my Ipad 2 16gb WiFi, I bought it in US on march (I don´t live in US) I returned to my country and updated the IOS to 5.1.
One week ago the wifi signal dissapeared, I get the continuously running circle that shows it is trying to connect too.
I tried to reset it, to restart it, I even erase all content and settings but the problem continues.
As you can imagine an Ipad without internet connection is useless, I have opened a case in Apple Technical Support.
All I want to do is to return it
The question is if It will be possible to replace it or change it by other apple product. I will go to US again next month. -

Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.

I cannot find a feature that allows me to set an auto shut off and turn on time for the iPhone... say like 11pm til 7am every night. My Blackberry had it and it was a great way to conserve battery power when you didn't need the phone.
Let me know if it exists and I am missing its set up somehow.Agreed, I used ot like on my Nokia setting an office profile where the ring volume would not alert the entire floor.
Having a different profile for meetings, in your office, and the golf course is nice. With the iPhone your left with Silent/Not-Silent
