Is this black hat SEO??

I should delete this as it's not fair to have a link here.
But the site had appalling black hat SEO used on it.

I agree it's appalling. This is what I assume you mean:
painter decorator durham - <painter decorator durham>
Only the link is necessary from a design and usability
perspective so I
would say they are obviously playing games. Whether it's a
game tolerated by
Google is beyond me.
The markup is also appalling.
Perhaps an SEO experienced developer will see your post and
offer an
opinion.
Good luck.

  • How do I get rid of this black line across the top of my screen...

There is this black line that stretches about midway across the entire top of my screen... I read something about reseting my PRAM and I did that but it didn't remove the line... any insight on what is wrong with it and what needs to be done??
    Thank you!

Is your Mac still under warranty? It sounds like a hardware failure.

  • What is this black dot on the side of my MacBook Pro? What is it for? How do I get to it?

I have a MacBook Pro (2011 Model & 13") and I was wondering . . . What is this black dot on the side of my MacBook Pro? What is it for and how do I get to it?
P.S.  I feel stupid asking this question  . . ..  . because I know those who answer will know exactly about it and what to do with it . .

To be honest when I first got it, I thought I broke that hole . . . see I assumed it was a button to eject the CD slot, and I managed to either push it in deep enough, or smash it off. . .. .  I once got a tooth pick and fiddled around in there in atempt to find something. . ..

  • What is this black bar on my screen that  talks, I can't get it to turn off!

What is this black bar on my screen that talks, I can't get it to turn off! It reads every little link on each screen and I can hardly browse because it will scroll back up to where it is reading. Help me!

I just figured it out, hallelujah! In universal access I can turn off voice over. Thank you!

  • My Macbook Pro I guess downloaded the new update while I was asleep and now this black screen that is speaking won't go away.

While I was asleep I believe my Macbook Pro downloaded some new software, I turned it on this morning and now I have this black screen with letter inside of it that says whatever is inside of it to me. It is very annoying as if I am online it will describe everything to me and move my screen. I am a student and cannot work or research when my computer does this. Can someone please help me figure out how to get rid of this?

    to disable VoiceOver, press "command+F5".

It has been on this black screen with the apple logo and some small white writing at the top of the screen for many hours. I've tried rebooting it and connecting to iTunes but nothing has worked.
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

It likely means there was still water inside it and something has now shorted out and permanently damaged one or more components.  THE very worst thing you can do with wet electronics is energize them - even a small drop of water inside on any of the circuitry or electrical contacts can cause catastrophic damage.
Take it to Apple for a free evaluation, but most likely you will need to replace it.  For the out of warranty fee ($269.00 USD) you will get a refurbished replacement (like new, with a factory new screen and battery).  An out of warranty replacement will also re-instate your remaining warranty, or 90 days warranty, whichever is longer.

  • What's this black piece of foam on keyboard ribbon cable?

Today I upgrade my hard drive to 7200 RPM one.
When I tried to lift out the keyboard ribbon cable connector by tearing up the yellow piece of tape on top of the black foam thing on top of connector, the tape stick a portion of the black piece thing up.
    https://www.getdropbox.com/gallery/45605/1/MAC?h=4868f5
Now everything is running fine, no matter with the keyboard or the system.
I'm just wondering what that piece of black foam thing is for?
Will that affect the keyboard in any way?
Please help me clear up this mystery.
    Thanks

It's just packing to help space the ribbon and stop movement/disconnection of the ribbon under duress.

  • What about this black border around my movie?

I've just started learning about iMovie. With a Canon Digital I've shot some test footage. Thing is, some of the clips have a black border around the entire movie where other clips have no border top and bottom but do have side borders. What gives? Many thanks.
Mac Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.1)

The problem sounds like it could be an issue with what format you selected for the project when you first created it. iMovie gives you a choice of DV, DV Widescreen, HDV 1081, HDV720, MPEG-4. If you choose one format for your project, but the camera is not set for that particular format, you will see the black bars appear on the sides or around the top of your image.
Which Canon camera are you using? Check to see what format the camera is recording, and make sure your new project matches this.

  • How do I get rid of this black line under the menu bar?

This last update's UI ugliness is a black/dark gray line under the menu bar:

How do I get rid of it?

The developer of Classic Theme Restorer maintains a support thread over here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=2827985
Sorry I can't help you myself, I am still using Firefox 28 while I try to Customize the 29-plus versions without resorting to using CTR. I have tried it, but I prefer doing my own "cobbles" rather than rely upon an extension that "restores" much what I didn't like about Firefox 4.0 thru 28 and overrides what I do like about Australis. IOW, CTR 'fixes' things about 90% opposite of what I would do, if I had the talent to do a "retro extension".
''IMO, the orange Firefox button was the worst thing that Mozilla has ever done to Firefox. The Menu bar worked fine before Firefox 4 came out and still does, it just doesn't have be showing all the time = Compact Menu and its' derivatives over the years was the 'ticket' for me starting from before Firefox was even named Firefox.''

  • This "black snow" is driving me NUTS!

    SUMMARY:
I'm getting "black snow": little black rectangles that pop up for a millisecond in random locations of the DVD MENU. Only the menu is affected, nothing else. I am using iDVD 5. I've tried trashing, reinstalling, and updating iDVD 5 -- no effect. I've tried starting new iDVD projects, using different templates, and using different encoding settings all to no avail.
You can play this file with VLC to SEE the problem:
    http://stocksfam.com/BADVIDEOTS.VOB
HELP: How do I FIX THE STINKING PROBLEM?
    DETAILS:
I have an external LaCie dual-layer burner. I set it up a long time ago so my iDVD 5 could produce the DL images. It seems like that was a "hack" at the time (maybe that's the Patchburn you're talking about?), but it's been so long that I can't remember exactly what I did to get it to work. I always create images, and then burn the DVD image with Toast whenever I need a copy. I work exclusively with old home videos, so when there's a holiday or a birthday I'll usually go back and burn a few as presents for those who haven't received them yet. I've been doing this for about a year and a half without ever encountering this type of problem until this last week. I haven't done hardly anything with the home videos for about six months - although I've run OS updates whenever they come out.
I create a new iDVD 5 project, select the "Reveal" theme from the 4.0 themes (I've used this theme several times before without problems).
Then I import the video that I've exported from Final Cut Express. It brings in all the chapter titles correctly that I set (yay!). I place a bunch of tiff images in the drop zones, I move the menu text around a little. I save my project.
I preview my project, everything looks great. So then I go into Project -> Project Info and choose Dual Layer, and then start creating images [this was when I had the dual-layer thing installed -- I've reinstalled iDVD 5 since then and the option went away, but the problem is still there]:
DL - Best Performance: 5.58 GB image file
DL - Best Quality: 4.7 GB image file
Single - Best Performance: 3.71 GB image file
Single - Best Quality: (aborts - says file would be too big)
So I end up with three image files, so I open them up one at a time and fire up DVD player, and every single one of the images has these black rectangles that show up on the DVD menus all over the place like "snow" would on an old TV set that had a bad antenna.
Here's a link to a copy of the actual VOB file that is on the "Single - Best Performance" image:
    http://stocksfam.com/BADVIDEOTS.VOB
(I'm only going to leave that file there for a few days - it's 32MB)
If you open that up with VLC.app, you can see the black snow that I'm talking about.
    MAKE IT STOP!

  • This black box is making noise--what is it? (pictures)

I know there have been several threads regarding the white noise given off by Motherboards under heavy load.  I also have a K7N2G-ILSR and it has made the noise since day one.  Like others, I have tracked the noise to the little black box just above the mosfets near the CPU.
When I press on it, the pitch of the noise varies.  Ideally, I would like to strip the tape from around the box and hot-glue the entire thing, but I want to make sure it won't hose everything. I don't care about the warranty, but if I can't make the sound stop, I'm liable to kill someone.
I would like to know what the black box does and if anyone has any luck silencing the sound!
    Thanks!

In this case it stores energy and timely releases it, In MSI's words, this is normal, as the environment is high frequency.
To elaborate further on what I said before, what's likely happening is some of the components or that choke may be at the bottom or top of the allowable tolerance for manufacture. All electronics are not EXACTLY the same as far as components go. This is what's referred to as "parametric differences." You have the PCB, (printed circuitboard) CPU, RAM, peripherals, power supply, and, add to that, all the components that populate a PCB. A PCB is used on your VGA card, RAM, power supply, and ALL of your peripherals. All of these parts are manufactured with allowable tolerances, same goes for the PCB. Get the idea? See how this becomes an environment where things can easily get out of hand? Couple that with the fact of how many possible configurations can take place, and also that many of the componets and parts are manufactured by many different vendors.
Take a circuit board for example, you have multiple layers, dielectric in between those layers, the foil or copper layers in the internals are a set weight or thickness but the outer layers are usually plated up and/or etched down (this can include the internals). The etch process is done with acid, and you get a minute bit of what's called "etch down" where if you were to look at a cross section of a routed trace, you would notice that there is a slight "V" shape since the acid will etch around the sides. The board vendor must compensate for the etch down by enlarging the original artwork. However, it will NEVER be exact every time. The general specs for most of the boards we produce are +/- 20% of the original artwork supplied in the design data. That is, if you have an .008 thousandths trace, we can be within .0016 of the original.
Granted some tolerances are tighter when manufacturing high speed and impedance controlled designs, but you get the idea.
Now, you have basically the same scenario when it comes to components as mentioned previously. That is why you see users reporting strange behavior, mind you, it's a small percentage, but it is generally exacerbated when multiple parts, components, and peripherals operate in a high speed, high frequency environment like today's performance PC's. It only takes a few things to be at the top or the bottom of a tolerance to create this anomaly, or another issue altogether.
This is what I know personally through my experience as a PCB designer and manufacturer, and then being in the electronics and IT industry, and of course, an enthusiast

  • Help Getting This Black & White Colour Effect

Im trying to get this effect
    Its basically a 2 of the same images, 1 x black n white 1 x colour
the colour is under neath and the black and white you rub out the parts you want.
I cant seem to figure out how to merge the 2 coloured pics, and then earse it properly.
    Really novice user here sorry
    http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d168/LeeUHF/16251_168776982346_513047346_2670114_6674913 _n.jpg

    Open color picture
    Duplicate background layer
Open a hue/saturation adjustment layer above the background copy layer. You do this by clicking on the half black/white circular icon in the layers palette
Drag the saturation slider (the middle one) all the way to the left
Your color chip (left corner) should be black for the foreground color
Access the brush tool and paint with black where you want the color to be visible. If you go too far, correct by painting white
    TIPS
Using x on the keyboard toggles between black and white
The bracket keys can be used to change brush size ] increase, [ decrease
