Is this correct or not? Can I replace my Master So...

Question

Hi,
We are going to start re-decorating our hallway, and would like to change our master socket for a new clean one, as it was painted over before we moved in, and now looks very nasty. Here is how the phone line enters the house.
The outside wire from the pole comes in, then into a junction box:
Then down the wall, into the master socket:
Now I've read elsewhere than we can only change the wiring from behind the NTE5 faceplate inwards. However, I have also come across this, which states:
"Under the terms of your contract with BT the subscriber is not permitted to make any alterations to the wiring that leads into the house from the street. There will usually be a junction box or socket where the incoming wire is terminated inside the house. This is where BT pass responsibility to the subscriber. Subscribers are free to make modifications to the wiring from this point on."
So going by that statement, I would be allowed to replace the master socket with a new one, just re-connecting the wire coming down from the junction box.
Could someone please confirm if this statement is true or not. If it's not then that is very misleading and ADSL Nation should definitely remove that paragraph.

If it is an old style master you can connect a new style master as an extension socket along side it as the diagram shows that is all in that effect adsl nation is correct if you connect it as shown in the Kitz diagram
