Is this feature avaliable in Acrobat X Pro

Is there a feature that would remember on which page i ended reading an ebook so the next time i can start reading from the same location.

Well for your kind information usually Acrobat Acrobat X Pro in not used for ebook reading, another Adobe software which is named as Adobe Reader is used for eBook/PDF reading.
I don't think so these features are available in Adobe Acrobat and Adobe reader. It is very good suggestion fore Adobe team to implement these features in new update, because it is very helpful for ebook readers.
Thanks

  • Does the Shared Review Feature Work Using Acrobat X Pro with Win7/Office 7?

I see there is a new version of Acrobat. We recently upgraded to AA9 but found it didn't support Windows 7/Office 2010. Shared review didn't work.
I checked out the specs and FAQs for AAX but am not clear if it does or does not support Shared Review running on Win7 using Office 2010. It says you can create PDFs using Office 2010 but is vague about the Shared Review feature.
We won't invest in yet another upgrade if AAX doesn't support Shared Review. Can someone let me know if it does or does not support the feature?

I downloaded the trial version of Acrobat X Pro to test the features that should now be supported with Win7-64bit, particularly the Shared Review. X still does not suppor this unless there some configuration I am totally missing.
I tested sending out a doc as an email attachment for shared review and Acrobat X still does not recognize MS-Outlook as my default mail client, thus the feature doesn't work. This is the exact same thing that happened in Acrobat 9 - I get to the step where I add email addresses for the review and - boom - Acrobat tells me there is no default email client. I double and triple checked and MS-Outlook is definitely the default mail program on my machine. So Acrobat is still not recognizing it.
So, does this feature NOT in fact work yet with Windows 7 64-bit or is there a special step I am missing?
I tried and checked the following:
    - Uninstalled Acrobat 9 and then installed the FULL trial version of Acrobat X Pro, rebooted and so on.
    - Checked that MS-Outlook is my default mail client.
    - Tried entering the email address manually into the To: field for the Shared Review and that didn't work.

  • I cannot open this PDF file in Acrobat 8 Pro or in Acrobat Reader on Windows 7 64-bit

I have a PDF file that I could open on my Windows XP 32-bit laptop in Acrobat 8 Pro or in Acrobat Reader.  I then upgraded to a Windows 7 64-bit laptop.  But now in Win7-64, I cannot open this same file using the same apps (Acrobat 8 Pro & Acrobat Reader XI).
When I try to open it in Acrobat 8, it does not load and instead a popup windows appears saying -
    Adobe Updater
Some components needed to complete this operation are missing but information about them may be available on the Adobe website. Would you like to search the Adobe website for the missing components?
And I can choose either the OK or Quit buttons.  When I click OK, a web browser starts and goes to this website -
    http://www.adobe.com/special/adobe_update_manager/?type=Filter&name=FOPN_foweb&version=0.0 .0.0&lang=en_US&os=Windows&osver=6.1.7601&appid=acrobat8pro-en_US&cpu=intel
    This webpage says -
    Adobe Update Manager
Adobe cannot locate the requested plugin. New plugins will be listed on this page. Currently there are no plugins.
So now I am stuck, no direction to go.  I am left without any solution from Adobe for Acrobat on this file.
When I try to open this PDF file in Reader, it does not load and instead a web browser is spawned loading the webpage -
    http://plugin.fileopen.com/Default.aspx?bhcp=1
This is the FileOpen Plug-in for Adobe Acrobat/Reader, which prompts to -
Please click OK to download the FileOpen Plug-in Installer for Adobe Acrobat/Reader
I click on OK, download and run the Installer file, accept the terms, and installed the FileOpen Client (x64) B928.  Upon completion, it prompts to Finish.  But it does not automatically bring Reader up or try to load the file.  So I try again to load the PDF file into Reader.  But once again, the file does not load and the web browser is spawned loading the same FileOpen Plug-in Installer link.  I click OK again, and start the same FileOpen Client process.  This time, it recognizes that I have FileOpen Client installed, and the window gives me two choices, Repair or Remove.  So since I apparently need this Plug-in, I choose Repair.  The process seems to complete the Repair.  But when I try to load the file, it still brings me back to the FileOpen Plug-in webpage.  So now I am stuck again, and left without any solution from Adobe for Reader on this file.
I tried Adobe support.  But apparently Adobe does not support past releases of their products (Acrobat 8), and also does not give free support for the current version of their free products (Reader XI).
    Can this be fixed?

How is Acrobat 8 not fully Windows 7 compatible?  I see discussions on this Adobe Community saying how Acrobat 8 does work on Windows 7 and with 64-bit.  It appears that if Acrobat 8 is updated to the latest version, then this should fix AA8-Win7 issues.  And I am at the latest AA8 version, 8.3.1.
And how are Acrobat 8 and Reader XI are not compatible?  I have always had Acrobat and Reader installed on the same PC, without ever having any issues.  And Adobe allows the installation of one after the other.  So apparently Adobe allows them both to exist together.  If they are incompatible, then why would Adobe allow them to exist together?
Anyway, I did uninstall the FileOpen Plug-in and the Reader XI, then reinstalled the FileOpen Plug-in.  So now Reader is not installed and only Acrobat 8 is installed.  I then tried to load the PDF file, but I still get the Acrobat 8 error described above.

  • How to "flatten" a pdf in Adobe Acrobat X Pro

Is there a feature in Adobe Acrobat X Pro similar to that in Bluebeam that allows the user to "flatten" the pdf? What this means is that images, text boxes and other additions to the pdf become seamlessly integrated into the pdf, guaranteeing they will display on other users' computers and when printed.

I did try to open the resulting PDF to see if the fields/annotations were flattened. How would I know if they were flattened?
The images I added get a thin blue border around them and become shaded when I click on them after flattening.
Before flattening, they get a thin blue border with squares on each corner to drag, change size, etc.
Does this mean they were successfully flattened?
I do not understand this: “I just tried with Preflight (Acrobat 9) and it made all of the check boxes selected when it flattened them.” What check boxes are you referring to?
Please see the below window. Is that where I am supposed to be? If so, am I supposed to click “Analyze and Fix” or do something else?
Philip Jones in post 15 suggested “Selecting All then use the Flattening.” However, that makes no difference for me.

  • OT: Macintosh Users: Beware the misleading advertising for Acrobat 9 Pro Extended

An important message to Macintosh users who are considering purchasing Acrobat 9:
I am writing to let you Mac users know that the current marketing for Acrobat Pro is very confusing.
On the page for Acrobat Pro,
    here.
there is a very enticing sidebar that says "Consider Upgrading to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended"
It outlines all the cool things that Extended can do. I had seen some publicity for Extended and so I immediately clicked that button to find out more about this version. It is a very compelling product that has a presentation application, 3D capabilities, and the form creation product Live Cycle Designer.
I was very excited about this product, when I was lucky to have checked the System Requirements for this product. And was amazed to find that this product is Windows only!
It is one thing to shove the Mac market off to the side as Acrobat has in the past. For instance, in the past, Acrobat products have provided features for Windows that were missing on the Mac.
But the current advertising borders on misleading advertising. Rather than just hide the Windows -only features under the same name as the Macintosh product, Adobe has come out with a Windows-only product that doesn't clearly state it is Windows only!
To publicize a product on a page that is cross platform and then make it very hard to find out that the product is Windows only is terrible. And I guarantee that this will lead to many people ordering something they can not use. And will be very angry about!
I have written to several people I know at Adobe to complain about this.
I would suggest that others use the Adobe-feedback page:
    http://www.adobe.com/bin/webfeedback.cgi
to tell Adobe how this makes you feel.
Meanwhile, I'm glad that I won't have to shell out the extra money for this Windows-only product.

    Buko,
I appreciate your support, but it's even worse than you think.
Here are the features exclusive to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended:
Combine documents, drawings, e-mail, spreadsheets, and rich media including audio, video, 3D, and maps in a single, compressed PDF Portfolio.
b The Pro version does not support 3D.
Create interactive, on-demand presentations Use Adobe Presenter software now included with Adobe Acrobat® 9 Pro Extended software to liven up your slides with video, voice-over, demos, and interactive quizzes, and then output to PDF for reliable, cross-platform sharing.
b The Pro version does not contain Presenter.
This is the product I was most interested in.
Work with expanded 3D features Use new Adobe 3D Reviewer software to combine multiple CAD formats in one assembly; compare a revised design to an earlier version; measure and section on precise geometry; and create exploded views, animations, and balloons. Export your work to 2D vector or raster files or save as PDF.
b The Pro version does not support any 3D features.
View and interact with PDF maps Search, measure, and mark up geospatially enabled PDF maps. Discover the longitude and latitude by placing your cursor over a location. Measure PDF maps in kilometers or miles.
b The Pro version does not support the PDF maps features.
Create interactive forms with Adobe LiveCycle Designer.
b The Pro version does not have the LiveCycle Designer application.
Finally, there is a feature mentioned in the Pro 9 Extended product that I cannot find in the Acrobat Pro 9 features:
Convert a variety of video formats to FLV for reliable, cross-platform sharing of video, animations, and applications in PDF documents. With native support for Adobe® Flash® technology, no additional media player is necessary for playback.
b But I can't definitely tell if this feature is in the Pro 9 version.
As you can see, there are quite a few compelling features in Pro Extended. And I guarantee it is
b only marketing, and not code,
that is keeping these features from the Mac market.

  • Adobe Acrobat x Pro 10.0

We are going to use the Digital signature feature of Adobe Acrobat x pro 10.0 for students’ assignment. Once student done their assignments they send their work to their supervisors (internal and external) to comment and sign. If we are going to use acrobat x pro software to fulfil our task
Do we need to buy digital IDs for this task ?
Can we do this task by using creating self-signed digital IDs which do not require each  user to save a new self-signed digital signature each time.
We would like to know what is the use of “Roaming ID” and   Roaming ID server?
How can we set up a  roaming ID Server ? Can it be used by network and non-network users to digitally sign documents without generating a new signature each time but maintain the date and time stamp integrity?
    Thanks

Self-signed digital IDs may be adequate for personal use but for business applications like the one that you outline, you'll want to use a digital ID from a certificate authority.
You can find a tremendous amount of information about Acrobat/PDF/Digital signatures to help you understand how to setup the infrastructure for this in Digital Security Document Library.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro - Creating PDF from explorer (Right-Click) problem

    Hello,
I am new here. I've searched the forums here and maybe I've missed finding the solution.  We recently updated from Acrobat 6 Pro to Acrobat 9 Pro, and I can no longer get a PDF to be created in the same folder the Word, Excel or other file is located.
In otherwords, when I use (under Windows Explorer) the right-click option and Convert to Adobe PDF, Acrobat 9 Pro keeps asking me where to save this file!  Under Acrobat 6 Pro, it would just create the file under the same folder unless I specified otherwise.
I have tried to look under the Word 2003 Adobe PDF "Change Conversion Settings" and I do not have the box next to Prompt for Adobe PDF file name checked.
Am I missing something? I would have assumed this simple process would have carried over from Acrobat 6 Pro. I really do not want to go through a bunch of processes just to save the PDF in the same folder. Under Acrobat 6 Pro, this was a simple task. I am not doing anything major, just converting various Word (.doc) files to PDF.
    Thanks.

Using Windows 7, Acrobat 10.0.1, basically the same problem.
Explorer > Right-Click > Convert to Adobe PDF
brings up the Save As dialog and if you'll notice the path in the address bar at the top, it defaults to the last folder in which you created a PDF.
In the Save As dialog, browse to the folder in which you want to save the PDF then click the Save button. This folder will stay in effect until you change it by browsing to a different one in the Save As dialog.
Using Acrobat X, I tried everything I could think of to get a fast, efficient way of converting multiple files to PDF (with the same name and in the same folder as the source files) and, unfortunately, the method described above seems to be the fastest. I tried drag and drop to an Adobe PDF printer shortcut and that didn't work at all--it did nothing! In Acrobat X, File > Create > Batch Create Multiple Files will present a dialog with options for saving to the same folder and keeping the same name as the source file, although it seems like the files process slower in addition to having to click 8 times (not counting selecting the files) before the process begins.
I fervently hope that Adobe will change Explorer > Right-Click > Convert to Adobe PDF back to automatically saving to the same folder as the source document.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro cannot handle claim based authentication

    Hi,
The system has licensed 'Adobe Acrobat X Pro' installed successfully. When SharePoint 2010 site collection has NTLM authentication, pdf document can be edited sucessfully using 'Adobe Acrobat X Pro'.
Issue arises when the sharepoint 2010 site collection has claim based authentication.

When site is with NTLM authentication, adobe acrobat x pro opens and allow to edit successfully. But when it there is Claim Based authentication, it cannot. It seems Adobe Acrobat X Pro does not have capability to send appropriate headers to handle claim based authentication. Also it is not able handle the sequence of request-response for claim based authentication. When searched on web, there is one product of Acrobat called LiveCycle, which has capability to handle SAML. Does that mean Adobe Acrobat X Pro does not have the capability to handle Claim based authentication so it is depend on LiveCycle for it?
    thanks

  • Acrobat X Pro, continues to need re-installed every 30 days, with a 4 year subscription.

I'm really, really tired of having to re-install this program every 30 days when I purchased a 4 year subscription.  The first time this happened on a weekend, I missed turning in assignments and then had to reinstall my entire CS6 (per adobe help suggestion) to get it to work.  That takes 8 hours, if I'm lucky.   I have found a way to do it faster, but this is the 6th time having to reinstall it and I'm tired of this glitch in the program.  I have also be made aware it isn't just happening to me.  I want to get this fixed.  This suite wasn't cheap, and the continuous headache this problem keeps creating isn't something I can overlook any more.  I need action Adobe.  So please fix this problem with your Acrobat X Pro program, because your customers aren't happy with it.  Some are so feed up they purchased another program to do it's job.

I have a PC.  I’m running windows 8  64 bit, but this problem occurred on Windows Vista as well.  There are no error codes it just won’t open.  You can use the program that morning to convert or combine files into a pdf. then 2 hours later you go to repeat the process and nothing.  The icon for it will appear on your desktop for 5 sec. and then disappear.   That’s it nothing else happens.  The same results will occur no matter how you try to open the program, restart your computer, or check for updates.
The only way to make the program work is to uninstall and reinstall it.  The first time this occurred the adobe rep told me to reinstall the whole suite.  It took 8 hours.  I have now found were I stored the suites setup files to reinstall the individual application verses the entire suite, but it is still annoying to have to re install it ever 30 days or so.  When I do re-install it all the serial numbers are in place and it says I have 36,XXX days left in my trail.
I don’t know what else you would want, but this is all I can give you because that’s what happens.  I’m currently taking online classes and we are all required to have this exact same suite and I know at least 2 other students who have mentioned this requiring problem.  One was so tired of it the purchased a different program to do it’s job.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI Pro on cloned PCs

We have this problem: We installed Acrobat XI Pro on our master-pc using the serial-number of our volume-license and started it, everything seemed to be ok, then we cloned the pc, changed the the IP-address and hostname on the new, cloned pc. All the same steps we also did using Acrobat X Pro. But now, whe we start Acrobat XI Pro on the cloned pc, a messages appears and we are asked for a login to use the test-license of Acrobat XI pro.
Does anyone have a solution for this issue? I can't believe, that cloning should not be possible with Acrobat XI Pro.

    Hi michidoe,
It will be helpful if you post the exact error message you get.
And how did you clone your pc?

  • Can I add a Youtube video to a PDF with Acrobat 9 Pro?

I was reading about PDF portfolios in Acrobat X Pro: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/online-eportfolios-multimedia-presentations.html
It says and I quote, "With Acrobat X Pro, you can also present live web content. For example,  you can insert a YouTube video to play within your PDF Portfolio, or you  can add a web page that will dynamically load the most current page  content. Anyone can view your PDF Portfolio using free Adobe Reader®  software."
Is this also possible with Acrobat 9 Pro? I have tried following all the steps (I even did a search and found this: http://teacherlink.ed.usu.edu/tlresources/training2/acrobat/AcrobatwMultimedia.pdf), however, whenever I add the Youtube url using the multimedia tool in Acrobat, I get the message 'no media file has been specified.'
Is it not posisble to add Youtube videos to PDFs in version 9 pro?

PDF Portfolios in Acrobat X support the use of 'live' Web pages as documents (they open in an embedded browser window). You can therefore create a reference to a page from the YouTube website, but the content will only appear if the viewer has a Web connection and allows trust access. It's essentially no different to including a Web link in a regular file, except the browser appears within the Acrobat or Adobe Reader window.

  • Acrobat 7 Pro not Printing Some Layers

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue I'm having printing layered acrobat files.  Many of my layers are not printing for some reason.  This only happens on page 1 of a two page pdf.  This is happening on Acrobat 7 pro on both Windows XP and Windows 7.  It happens on several computers but for some strange reason it behaves on a third computer.
    Thanks in advance, Stephen

That's a guaranteed sign of a conflict between the Print Driver for your Printer and the Version of Acrobat you have.
First upgrade to the very latest version of Acrobat you can for the version you have.
Then go to to Printer website and the the very latest Driver they have.
I'll will almost bet a wooden nickel that you have a Hewlett-Packard Printer.
Adobe and Hewlett-Packard have had a known for years love/hate, yin/yang relationship. Every time Adobe would make a small change to Acrobat code. It would bust HP's Print Driver code. Usually it showed up as diagonal lines from one corner to the other. The only work around is Print as image. (looks like an old time TV that has the Horizontal hold out of adjustment.) as of Lat through Acrobat 8 and 9 they've buried the hatchet apparently.
