Is this just a hardware fail?

Right here's the situation my macbook pro won't boot up when I try it goes to the regular booting screen (apple logo and spinning wheel) then the apple logo disappears after a while and it shows a no entry sign (circle with line through it). Ive tryed pram reset and booting into safe mode neither changed anything.
Also when I try to boot to the install cd half the time it goes into kernal panic and when it does load it doesn't see my harddrive it doesn't even show in the system profiler.
Don't know if this helpful atall but I have a windows bootcamp on it when I try to boot this I get to a screen saying volume is dirty it then hangs at some random percentage
Anyone have any clue what's happening?

Hiya renlok,
welcome to discussions. Normally, when the "no entry" sign comes up, it signifies that the machine cannot find a valid boot disk or boot partition. That sign is not something you want to see.
Have you tried (with the Macbook OFF), holding the option key ("alt") and then pressing the power-on button? If you have a good boot partition, it will show this up.
There is also an apple article , you could explore.
Normally, some of your file structure (if corrupt) can be repaired using disk utility, and if your disk is failing, then the only option is to contact Apple to get it swapped for a good one.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Did you try it with the iTunes your Mac already has?
Try running Software Update in your System Preferences.  That should bring your computer up to the latest software available for 10.4.  You would end up with an older version of iTunes, but that may be good enough to activate your iPad.

  • Windows setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware.

Just over a month ago, I purchased 6 identical Lenovo B5400 laptop computers for a small charity. Each is preconfigured with Windows 7 Professional, with a Win 7 recovery partition, and is supplied with a set of Windows 8 Pro recovery media (the charity
requires Windows 7 installed). I unpacked three laptops, configuring the first one as required by the charity, and using the second and third to experiment with the sysprep / imagex process before applying it to the configured system for migration to the other
laptops. After securing the second and third laptops by taking image backups, I applied sufficient configuration to the second to test the process, then sysprep'd it, and imagex'd it to a network drive, and to a USB stick. So far so good. After using imagex
to apply the custom .wim file to the third laptop, I found it booted up through the "updating registry settings", "starting services", and "installing devices" phases, but when it got to "applying system settings", it
displayed a messagebox titled "Install Windows", with the message "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware".  In the last few days, I have explored all the other incidences of problems with similar
symptoms found by a google search, including those on this forum, and tried numerous experiments without getting any further (in most cases not even getting as far)". The sysprep'd image on the second laptop boots ok, going through the same phases up
to "applying system settings", then reboots normally, requests username and PC name, etc, the only defect being that it loses the Realtek display driver (which only takes 2 minutes to restore). I have tried imagex /apply to put the custom .wim file
back on the same laptop it was taken off (the second laptop), and it works exactly the same as it did for the same system immediately after sysprep'ing. The only difference between laptops 2 and 3 is a serial number (QB07523967, and QB07524012). Is there any
reason that this should not work? If it will not, I'm faced with about 100 hours to configure the 6 laptops individually to the charity's requirement.

    Hi,
This issue can be caused by hard disk settings in bios or DVD drive or bad SATA cable. Please try those steps below:
Upgrade the BIOS to the latest version; go into the BIOS and activate "Load Fail-Safe Defaults".
If you connect the SATA drives, please set the SATA controller to compatible mode in BIOS.

  • When updating to  Mountain Lion I get this measageThis disk has S.M.A.R.T. errors. This disk has hardware problem that can't be repaired. Back up as much data as possible and replace the disk.

When updating to  Mountain Lion I get this measage
This disk has S.M.A.R.T. errors. This disk has hardware problem that can’t be repaired. Back up as much data as possible and replace the disk.
never had this before download of Mountain Lion.

As others have stated, this is a potentially catastrophic event.  Consider yourself lucky, as hard drives usually just fail wihtout warning.  Your disk could die at any time.  This is a mechanical / physical failure, not software related.
Going forward, I would suggest utilizing a utility that monitors SMART status, which you obviously don't have, such as SpeedTools.

  • Am I the only one having difficulties with aol on my iPod touch? I can't download email attachments *videos n stuff* is this just me?

Like it will stop in the middle of extraction and say unable to download attachment server connection failed, I've reset my iPod multiple times, is there a bug in the servers or is this just me? Help I really need answers plz.....ps I just upgraded to ios 5, but is this me or mmain aol servers?

You need to reopen that case file for your initial problem and get that resolved. That's the first thing.
The second thing (the download times) can easily be checked out while you are at the Apple Store (as a test you do yourself). Find a couple of large apps (like maybe approaching 1 GB) in which you don't have any personal data in them, and delete them from your iPad. Then redownload them and see how long it takes at the Apple Store.
If it's quick and normal at the Apple Store, then you've got so,e problem with the iPad working right with your home WiFi, and you'll have to sort that out. If it's just as slow at the Apple Store, then you can open up case file on that issue while you are still in the Apple Store.

  • Fcp wont let me export to the compresser 4 all of a sudden it taking me too compresser 3 this just started happen what do i do

let me export to the compresser 4 all of a sudden it taking me too compresser 3 this just started happen what do i do

I don't know why this just started to happen unless v3.0 were somehow moved from its location.
I once had FCP7 get confused between Motion 4 and Motion 5 when I failed to follow Apple's installation recommendations but never a problem with FCPX going to the wrong app. (But I don't use the Send to Compressor workflow.)
When you have the legacy apps already installed on your system, the new pro app download moves the old ones into a folder, named Final Cut Studio. That's what I was getting at when I suggested you create a new folder for C3.

  • PPPoE works in Windows XP but in OS X just says "authentication failed"

I connect to the Internet via a cable modem. When I boot into Windows XP (SP3) and make a PPPoE connection, it works perfectly.
When I set up the same PPPoE connection on the Mac side however, it won't connect! It just says "authentication failed." I thought this might be some Snow Leopard bug so I busted out my old PBG4 with Leopard 10.5.8 on it, and it gave the same errors.
As a side note, my AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme routers also cannot connect with PPPoE. Is there something wrong with Apple's PPPoE implementation?

I know HOW to set it up. I've been rocking Macs for years and years. I'm just baffled because the PPPoE doesn't work AT ALL in the Mac (or with either of my 2 Apple routers) but works perfectly fine when I Boot Camp into Windows XP.
I've also tried downgrading the firmware on the AirPort units as I heard that helped in some cases...certainly didn't help in mine though

  • WDS "windows setup could not configure Windows on this computer's hardware"

I use WDS on a 2008 R2 server to deploy Windows 7 Enterprise with SP1 64-bit custom images to a variety of devices within our enterprise. This has worked flawlessly for two years. I have three desktop models and three laptop models (all HP) that share
a common .wim image. I PXE boot a desktop and choose the image file to deploy. It deploys like magic - until this past week. HP sent us a replacement drive for warranty repair on one computer and on that one PC I started seeing the "Windows setup
could not configure Windows on this computer's hardware" message after deploying Windows 7. The image deploys just fine, the computer reboots just fine, services are set up, all devices are detected. As soon as "Setup is installing devices" hits
100% and the "Setup is applying system settings" phase begins, that message appears. After researching the error and pulling the logs that Microsoft's KB 2466753 describes, it seemed that my problem was related to an "Advanced Format"
disk in that new computer. What I don't get is that they state that this problem was resolved in SP1 (which is what I'm deploying!). So, I started downloading storage drivers to my boot image thinking that maybe a newer driver would fix things. Eventually
(many drivers later), I got the new hard drive to successfully take my Windows 7 image. Here's where it all went to pieces. No sooner had I corrected the problem on that ONE machine, that none of my other machines would successfully re-image. After
2 years of flawless operation, now all my computer models exhibit this same error (except the one with the new replacement drive). After recreating my boot image in WDS (being sure to pull it from a Win 7 SP1 DVD) and adding every driver in WDS practically,
I've gotten all but one particular model to successfully image. No matter what drivers I add (keep in mind, that no drivers have been removed
from WDS during any of this process), the HP z210 desktops I use will not accept the image. Microsoft suggests flipping BIOS settings but why the heck would I want to do that on every machine when their BIOS settings have never been a problem
before this? They also say I should only need to download special Intel drivers if my disks are set up with RAID - which they are not. Anyway, as a test, I inserted a standard Windows 7 Enterprise with SP1 64-bit DVD (same one I used to extract my boot.wim)
and installed Windows on that model with no trouble at all. I only get this error when deploying through WDS. I'm at my wits end and would appreciate any and all help at this point.  Thank you!

    Hi,
Based on my understanding, the current situation is all other computers deployment is fine but z210 desktops.
If so, it seems like you have the incorrect driver in WDS for that particular computer z210 desktops you used.
I suggest install it from WDS without driver for test.
In addition, you can post this issue in
Setup Deployment to check the WDS setting issue.

  • 2010 MacBook Pro: Freeze w/ NVDA kernal error. Hardware fail or software problem?

Hundreds of complaints about the hardware design flaw which Apple never addressed in their 2009 model year computers, wherein the GeForce graphics card overheats and causes constant crashing, is here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/27865920?tstart=0#27865920
How about the same sort of problem in a 2010 MPB running OSX 10.6.8.  Screen locks up, case is very very hot, need to use the Power Key to shut down.  Since they never solved the 2009 problem, they probably used the same flawed design in the 2010 computers.
I have to keep this computer going as long as possible. I've used Macs exclusively since my Mac Plus, but 21st Century Apple is a stinking crappy company, which has ****** with me too much.  I won't be buying anymore Apple products.
There seem to be no driver updates for the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M and OSX 10.6.8.
Lately I get one or two freezes a day, always when browsing in FireFox (latest rev, which is 36.0.4). Need to shut down with power key. The hardware test on the Applications disk says my machine is OK. Is my hardware failing, or is this some software issue with FireFox? Or is OSX 10.6.8 simply too old to keep up with Flash and other web page crap?  Can I slather a bunch of conductive grease inside my case to get more heat flow to the case itself?

The logic board is failing and would have to be replaced if you want to keep using the machine. Apple would probably decline to service the machine because of its age. The part may no longer be available.

everytime I try to open the store it endlessly says "accessing iTunes store" but it never opens.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

My iPhone 5s and husband 5s both are unable to make or receive calls just comes up fail, dosen't even ring,I rang EE and got no where
seems weird both 5s stopped working at same time

If your iPhone works elsewhere without problems, then it's probable that your carrier's signal just isn't strong enough in your home. This is not an uncommon situation, since many communities balk at allowing cell carriers to place their towers in residential areas. If you have good Internet service in your house, you might ask EE if they can provide a "microcell" which would connect to your Internet connection and provide a stronger cell signal.
    Regards.

I can receive emails, but I cannot send emails. This just started happening. I have an iPhone and I can send emails from my phone fine. It's just not working on my Macbook. Every time I try to send an email it goes straight to my outbox. Can anyone help?

Thank you for heading me in the right direction.  I reset my Mail account for Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net:(customer ID)@att.net (instead of smtp.att.yahoo.com, per Apple's online troubleshooting information).   I'm not sure what "(Offline)" means when it appears at the end of my Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)??  In the Advanced box I clicked on "Use custom port:  465" and checked "Use Secure Sockets Layer."  Authentication:  Password; I have correct User Name and Password put in.  After doing all this, when I try to send emails again today, they go directly to the Outbox and sit there.
What's curious is that my first sent email this morning did go out using the Outgoing Mail Server, smtp.att.yahoo.com: (customer ID)@att.net(Offline) but subsequent emails I tried to send with this server were rejected with the message:  "Cannot send message using the server smtp.att.yahoo.com (etc.).  The SMTP server doesn't support TLS(SSL) on port 587.  Verify your account settings and try again."  That's when I tried resetting my Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net (etc.), as mentioned above, and was unsuccessful in sending out any further emails.  I guess my next step is to contact my email service provider, AT&T, and see if they can help me.  Thanks, again, for taking the time to respond and for giving me your input!  Much appreciated!
