Is this laptop suitible to use PS and Ind CS5 on?

Going away traveling for 3 months and need an inexpensive laptop I can purchase in the UK today or tomorrow that can support CS5 on it.
I'm thinking of buying this one:
Buy TOSHIBA Satellite C50-B-14D 15.6" Laptop - Black | Free Delivery | Currys
I have already checked it specifications next to the adobe system requirements and it seems to be alright, but just wanted to confirm, as I bought another PC (  http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=L0M36EA&opt=ABU&sel=PCNB )
But it just didn't have enough disc space to download both PS and Ind!!
This one obviously has much more memory and I'm prepared to downgrade on the screen and colour quality compared to my Macbook Pro.
This is all new territory for me as I'm a Mac user!
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
V

It should work for doing simple stuff, but don't expect it to be particularly fast or convenient.

  • Mail doesn't put relevant conversations into a conversation. Could this be due to using hotmail and therefore a POP server?

I recently downloaded Lion and was wondering why the conversations in mac mail wasn't working properly. My relpy to the message goes into the conversation, but then the reply from the other person opens as a new message not in the same conversation. Is there a setting I am unaware of?
Could this be becasue I use hotmail and a pop server?

No, this is because Mail is programmed with rigid, inappropriate rules for grouping messages in conversations. There are no settings that can modify either the rules for grouping or the grouping after applying the rules.  Mail  thinks it's smarter than you are and won't listen to any arguments to the contrary.

  • MSI GT70 laptop - can this laptop work with 3D games and movies?

I don't see it indicated anywhere but I was wondering if this was possible..

It should, but not on his own screen, but extent to addiction 3D capable display.

Finally, note that the GTX 680M is compatible with all technologies Nvidia (PhysX, Optimus, etc..) but some of them (such as 3D Vision) cannot be used on the machine, for lack of suitable 3D display. However, if you have the glasses and a 3D Vision screen, nothing prevents you from connecting the MSI GT70 via HDMI and 3D gaming (720p only).

  • Laptop to HDTV Using HDMI and Quicktime

I'm trying to play a .MOV created by a GE DV1 camera using an HDMI connection from my PC (Dell) laptop to an HDTV.  It doesn't work.  Most of the time it does nothing, sometimes it operates jerkily for a while then quits.  Works fine on the PC monitor.

I have been having the same issues trying to connect my Laptop to my TV to use as a DVD player. A normal HDTV cable would not work. I went to Best buy, and found a HDMI cable that said "Laptop to HDMI cable" It was the only HDMI cable out of all of the HDMI that said "Laptop to HDMI". It was also twice the cost, $50.00 for a 10 foot cable. It seems a little to high in price so I am looking for a cheaper one on the web. If I find one, I will post to let you know.

  • HT204380 why does the camera in my itouch spontaneously closes after a few seconds of opening it? there was this time that I used facetime and it became freakishly hot and then after that, I tried to open my camera but quickly closed by itself.

there was this time that I tried to use my facetime for a long time. Then after using it, it became very hot all over from the back till front. Then when I tried to open the camera function, it only went to the part where it shows the gray spiral covers without actually going to the actual camera then it went completely black and it went to home. The camera closes on its own now and i cant use it.

    1. Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar at bottom
    2. Hold the FaceTime/Camera app down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close app
    4. Re-launch the app and test
Note: If necessary close all apps in the Task Bar

  • My ipad is disabled and i never connected it before to a laptop i only used wifi and everytime time i try to connect it to the laptop it tells me to put the passcode and i cant even do it

i had my ipad a while ago and the screen is damaged and i sent it to be replaced and when it got bk it gave the message ipad is disabled
when i tried to connect it to itunes it gave me a message cannot read the ipad it has to be unlocked first and its not even allowing me to do that on the ipad itself

You may need to put the iPad into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset and resync your content to it.
If you do it via a computer theat it hsan't been synced to (from here) :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

  • Using Lightroom and Indesign CS5

    Hi,
I used in the past Indesign CS3 to create a book.  It went fairly well.  that was before I started using Lightroom, which now holds my complete catalogue, edits, etc.
I've recently proceeded to create Collections in Lightroom for three books I want to start working on.  I just downloaded Indesign CS5 trial.  I am wondering if there is Lightroom support in Indesign CS5?  I'd really want to have the ability to import photos directly from Lightroom without having to export them in a specific folder to work in Indesign.  It seems to me it would be a waste of disk space since exporting files would simply create duplicates; no to mention I'd need to re-export them every time I would create modifications to the files in Lightroom...
I think this is a feature that has been requested here and there from Indesign users in CS4?
    Thanks,
    Martin

The point of RAW or DNG is, as the name implies, is to create the digital equivalent of a "negative". A format where the original camera data is preserved and can be "developed" later—the development settings are not actually applied until the file is converted. The advantage of the format is obvious when you take a shot with the wrong camera settings.
There's nothing forcing you to use the digital negative workflow. You could shoot an image format like .jpeg and use LR for content management and ID's Mini Bridge panel for placing.
There isn't much point in making CMYK conversions in PS—InDesign is capable of making the same color managed conversion on export or print.

  • Can This Laptop Be Used For Premier Pro CS6?

Developed an interest in learning to edit video but have become confused in reading all of the posts about what is the true minimum hardware requirement/setup, as compared to what is listed as System Requirements by Adobe.  Probably best to start with my initial goals.
Here is what I was looking at doing as this journey begins:
Purchased Creative Suite 6 Production Premium Classroom in a Book(CIB) after reading a review it would be a better start than Premier Pro CIB, which I plan on getting, if one has no experience in this field.  During research feel that I would like to become a subscriber to the Creative Cloud as there are a number of products I would like to learn and use.  Basically, I am hopeful that I may use my current laptop for the beginning of my education and further down the road look at getting a more powerful system as knowledge/skills/requirements increase.  Initial video I wouild like to work with is that received from family members smart phones and will be looking at purchasing a simple video camera for short interviews and brief presentantions.  Will likely desire uploading some completed projects to the web.
    Current Hardware:
    Laptop:  Asus N53SV
    OS: Windows 7 64bit
    CPU: Intel i7-2670QM  2.2GHz Cores=4  Threads=8
    L3 Cache: 6mb
    RAM: 6MB
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000, NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 1024 MB
    OpenGL: 3.1.0
    Display: 1920 X 1080
Drives: (1) HD, Seagate 500GB @ 7,200 RPM partitioned as C: 186GB with OS and programs,  D: 254GB some documents
                  E: Optical DVD-RW
F: USB 3 connected 2 TB Seagate GoFlex External HD
If this laptop can be used with current hardware, I wouild sincerely appreciate any suggestions for how to best utilize what is available to begin learning Premier Pro CS6.  As I will not have any time schedules that will have to be met I can accept that this may not be the ideal system.  Just hoping it can be a start.
If any further information is required about the laptop please let me know and Thank You for your time with this question.

That's not a bad setup at all to get started with small projects.
We all have different budgets and patience. You may be OK with what you have. And if it seems too sluggish - your rig would be for me , the following would help Premiere Pro performance:
    - increase RAM to 16GB (about $140 per eBay pricing from a seller with high ratings a few minutes ago)
    - add another drive; my favorite choice with your laptop would be a Seagate Momentus 750gb drive installed in a NEWmodeUS.com optical bay caddy (slips into your laptop)
    Regards,
    Jim
Exactly what I have done, and it is great.
You can get the caddy here:

I had this setup for my old HP and have a caddy ready to install for my new Dell Precision as well. You can either get an external house for your DVD drive, or get an external one - they are quite cheap.

  • I have an Itunes account on a different computer, how do I create or access this account to recognise my nano and iphone on a new laptop?

I have recently bought a laptop and would like to add music to my ipod nano and i phone 4 from this laptop instead of using the old computer.  Was wondering how I can create a new account or delete an old account on the other computer or update my exsisting account on to my laptop.
    any help would be great.

Yes. You can set up your phone to use your original account, no need to create a new one.

  • Using Safari and Skype and the fan is going full power. What is the problem and how to fix it?

My 13-Inch MacBook Pro has been experiencing heat problems while I go on to applications such as Safari, Word and Skype. It's never done this before.
What's the problem here and how can I fix it?

Skype is the one giving you problems.....
When sitting at idle, Skype can use as much as 90% of your CPU's resources.  The reason I know this is because I use Skype and have to shut it down once the fans start spinning and my Macbook starts getting hotter.
Another solution is to downgrade Skype one version down.  That seems to work for a few people.
    good luck...

  • Performance comparison between using sql and pl/sql for same purpose

    Hi All,
I have to do some huge inserts into a table from some other tables. I have 2 option:
    Option 1
    ======
    a. Declare a cusor for a query involving all source tables, this will return the data to be populated into target
    b. Use a cursor for loop to loop through all the records in the cursor
    c. for each iteration of the loop, populate target columns, do any calculations/function calls required to populate derived columns, and then insert the resulting record into target table
    Option 2
    ======
Just write a big single "Insert Into ..... Select ..." statement, doing alll calculations/funtion calls in the select statement generating the source data.
Now my question is ; which option is fast? and why. This operation is performace critical so I need the option which will run faster. Can anybody help???
    Thanks in Advance.

while the above comments are vaild, you should concider maintainability in you code. Even if you can write the sql it might be the code becomes complex making tuning very dificult, and derade performance.Beg to differ on that. Regardless of complexity of code, SQL is always faster than PL/SQL when dealing with SQL data. The reason for that is that PL/SQL still needs to use SQL anyway for row retrieval, and in addition it needs to copy row data from the buffer cache into the PL/SQL PGA. This is an overhead that does not exist in SQL.
So if you are processing a 100 million rows with a complex 100 line SQL statement, versus a 100 million rows 100 line PL/SQL procedure, SQL will always be faster.
It is a trade off, my experiance is large SQL's 100's lines long become hard to manage. You need to ask yourself why there are 100's of line of SQL. This points to an underlying problem. A flaky data model is very likely the cause. Or not using SQL correctly. Many times a 100 line SQL can be changed to a 10 liner by introducing different logic that solves the exact same problem easier and faster (e.g. using analytical SQL, thinking "+out-of-the-box+").
Also, 100's of line of SQL points to a performance issue always. And it does not matter where you move this code logic to PL/SQL or Java or elsewhere, the performance problem will remain. Moving the problem from SQL to PL/SQL or Java does not reduce the number of rows to process, or make a significant change in the number of CPU instructions to be executed. And there's the above overhead mentioned - pulling SQL data into a client memory segment for processing (an overhead that does not exist using SQL).
So how do you address this then? Assuming the data model is correct, then there are 2 primary methods to address the 100's of SQL lines and its associated performance problem.
Modularise the SQL. Make the 100's of lines easier to maintain and understand. This can be done using VIEWS and the SQL WITH clause.
As for the associated performance issue - materialised views comes to mind as an excellent method to address this type of problem.
my advice is keep things simple, because soon or later you will need to change the code.I'm all for that - but introducing more moving parts like PL/SQL or Java and ref cursors and bulk fetching and so on.. how does that reduce complexity?
SQL is the first and best place to solve row crunching problems. Do not be fooled into thinking that you can achieve that same performance using PL/SQL or Java.

  • Using Lightroom and Aperture, will a new ATI 5770/5870 vs. GT 120 improve performance?

I have a MP (2009, 3.3 Nehalem Quad and 16GB RAM) and wanted to improve performance in APERTURE (see clock wheel processing all the time) with edits, also using Lightroom, and sometimes CS5.
Anyone with experience that can say upgrading from the GT120 would see a difference and how much approximately?
Next, do I need to buy the 5870 or can I get the 5770 to work?
I am assuming I have to remove the GT120 for the new card to fit?
    Thanks

Terrible marketing. ALL ATI 5xxx work in ALL Mac Pro models. With 10.6.5 and later.
It really should be yours to just check AMD and search out reviews that compare these to others. You didn't look at the specs of each or Barefeats? He has half a dozen benchmark tests, but the GT120 doesn't even show up or in the running on most.
From AMD 5870 shows 2x the units -
    TeraScale 2 Unified Processing Architecture
    1600 Stream Processing Units
    80 Texture Units
    128 Z/Stencil ROP Units
    32 Color ROP Units
    ATI Radeon™ HD 5870 graphics
    That should hold up well.
Some are on the fence or don't want to pay $$
All they or you (and you've been around for more than a day!) is go to Apple Store:

Hi guys I need your help with this. I'm using Adobe After Effects CS5 on my iMac 06 and I just wanted to know, how exactly do I edit my movie frame by frame?
I've tried looking up on Youtube how to do this and I can't seem to find out how. Would anyone here know the answer?
    Thanks in advance!

Heres my problem, since this process requires echo to achieve it. I try and set and independent camera motion from the text while it extrudes outward. But... once the animation starts the echo ALWAYS...ALWAYS is disrupted and altered by the camera movement, whether its in a x, y , or z path. Sure i can move the camera angle and view it from there, but i cannot have the two moving independent from each other.
IF ANY ONE OUT THERE IS A WIZ AT ADOBE AFFTER EFFECTS PLEASE PLEASE RESPOND
this is SUPER ha ha frustrating
    Thank you
