You can navigate directly to the Adobe site, adobe.com -- getting any downloads directly from Adobe will insure that you are getting the real deal. I usually get most of my updates through "Apple software update," myself.
Either way is A-OK.

For several hundred productions, Pr CS6 worked perfectly for me. Now, for some unknown reason, when I attempt to render video, the render progress window continually shows more and more frames to be processed. Therefore when I get to 80% rendered it drops back to 70% and increases the total frames in the render.... over and over, so that I never get past 99% rendered... regardless of how long I let it process.

There are no viruses currently affecting the Mac but there is something called Flashback which is malware that has been doing the rounds and affected many Mac users. Apple have released some updates to Java that should remove it and improve protection. Run Software Update to see if there is anything for downloading.
A few precautions that can help prevent your Mac becoming infected:
If you use Flash only download it directly from Adobe.
In all web browsers disable Java (but do leave Javascript on as that's something else).
In all web browsers make sure downloaded files aren't set to automatically open after downloading.
Consider disabling Java completely (launch Java Preferences in the Utilities folder and disable it - you'll likely rarely, if ever need it. If you do just turn it on and off again when your done).

Anybody can copy my signature from signed documents opened in Acrobat Reader. How do I prevent that?

The problem occurs when I take a word document in which I've pasted a jpeg of my signature and save it to pdf. I can go straight into Acrobat Reader and make a copy of the signature. That never used to happen. Is there some way to fix that? I see this as a major security problem.

You can't keep anyone from copying anything from a PDF document. At the very least they can do a screen grab.

hello dawn, please be aware that there are malicious websites out there which will trigger fake update notices/popups which try to trick you into downloading software bundled with adware. please never click on such websites or execute such files on offer - updates are handled automatically by firefox and you don't have to download any file for it (you can always manually check if you're up-to-date by going to ''firefox > help > about firefox'').
please try these steps to regain your firefox:

# afterwards go to firefox > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.

How can you tell if your podcast is streaming or if you're playing from a download?

Yesterday I downloaded a podcast with the new Podcasts app on my iPhone. To play the podcast (while away from my WiFi), I tapped the episode in the Episodes list. I assumed I was playing the downloaded version. This morning, when I checked my data usage, it was 87MB more than it was yesterday! Does this mean that I inadvertently STREAMED the podcast instead? What precisely do you mean by deleting the podcast app from both the phone and Mac? I have deleted the podcast app from my phone but on my Mac in iTunes->iPhone->Apps it shows up albeit with a button labelled "Install". I've resynced 3 times and when I try to access my Podcast playlist in the Music app, I still get a message telling me that podcasts have moved to the Podcast app. I'm really sick of some of the changes Apple has made to their software.
