I have just seen an advert for the Full Retail FCE 4 from a POWER SELLER on eBay.
The price is £50 as opposed to £129 normally.
This is the explanation he gives for the low price:-
"In this auction we have another great deal for the professioanl video editing suite of Apple Final Cut Express 4. We have aquired some serial codes and a DVD master disc for this software. Each purchase will be supplied with a BURNT DISC of the original master and their own unique serial for installation and registration.
We must stress that each serial code can only be used once otherwise a breach of copyright has been made."
I have never heard this talk about "acquiring serial codes" before and am sure it must be illegal but can't be absolutely certain.
Any ideas ?

This business also sells Mac computers amongst many other things and claims that the FCE 4 and other software it sells is on a "RETAIL BULK LICENSE".
Put simply it sounds as though they are buying Bulk Licenses so that they can install these applications as and when necessary on the computers they sell using their MASTER DISC.
Sometimes they buy more Bulk Licenses than they require and sell them off in this way.
It almost sounds plausible but I have serious misgivings.
The company, apart from trading elsewhere, has been a Power Seller on eBay for the past 4 years, so you would imagine that if they were dodgy, they would have been spotted by now.

I myself probably use the internet the most out of anyone within the house and for the month of May I haven't downloaded that much apart from the odd patches for games, drivers and a couple of games I got off steam. No more than usual. Everyone else within the household has a very low download rate compared to me. Anyway on the 30th of May we get a message saying we are now over 100 gb????? So in 7 days after we have seen the warning message about being at 80gb we have used 20 gb???? It doesn't make any sense especially considering the fact everyone ensured they didn't download or upload any big files due to the warning.
We had a 80 gb warning as well for January which we received in February. I found this close to acceptable as in January I downloaded a hell of a lot probably about triple the amount I downloaded in May yet we reached just over 80 gb for January.

To be honest, I don't believe that there is a delay in the email as such, there could be a delay in it being sent rather than it arriving late - but I anticipate that really isn't the case.
The problem as I've mentioned before, is that the 80GB email doesn't actually say how much has been reached, it could be anything from 80GB to 99GB. Hence a couple of Steam games of a few GB could easily put the figure over 100GB.
This is clearly a massive failing, and BT should do something about this - but I'm afraid it appears to be falling on deaf ears. There are more and more people reporting this situation.
However here is an interesting situation. Someone has reported in the BTinternet newsgroups that they had received the 100GB email and that it was actually sent to them in error! Now if this information is 100% accurate, then this does open up a serious problem in that how could it be sent error, and how accurate are the usage figures ?

You may have an unwanted extension that is modifying sites (or the toolbar area). Try this:
Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that flush the tab?

Hiya, Im thinking of buying my first ipod the Ipod Touch 32gb model. Will I be able to transfer the music I currently have stored in the form of CDs and already on my laptop onto the Ipod and if yes, how would I do this? I have heard from some friends that Apple and Itunes is notoriously limited in the types of formats that are accetable? I dont want to pay £249 on an Ipod only to find that Im locked into buying all my music from Itunes and I cant use the music that Ive already paid good money to buy from other sources. Many thanks JEM24 for your help. Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone the actual cost of each additional gigabyte of storage to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. License: Is this legal/kosher?
One of the companies I do work for has an XServe G5 with 10.4 Server installed. It runs AFP, iChat, NFS, Web, and Windows services. They want to move some of those services onto another machine for performance reasons.
Is it legal/kosher to install their 10.4 Server license onto a second machine, without a duplication of services? IOW, if I were to have the XServe running AFP and Windows services, and move all the other services onto a second computer (e.g., a mirror door G4), would that be a license violation?
My gut instinct says that it would but I would like to make sure.It's not possible to do this legally.
If puchase cost is an issue, the company might consider purchasing a 10-user version of OSX server. The 10-user limit applies only to simultaneous AFP connections. So, for load distribution the 10-user version could be made an Open Directory replica and serve iChat, NFS, Web, VPN, routing, DNS, DHCP, as well as providing a 'hot' backup for all the directory information.

I know how to do it, but want to know if this is legal. I'm going on a long haul flight next week and want to copy my entire itunes library to my Macbook Pro then delete all the music and just keep the TV Shows and Movies for watching on route, is this legal?

Countries and Purchasing - is this legal?
I was looking at the soundtrack for Blood and Chocolate because I was wanting to buy "Stand My Ground," a song by a group called Within Temptation.
Anyhow, iTunes U.S. doesn't have it.
But iTunes Netherlands does, and one guy suggested we go buy the song in the Netherlands. Even if this is possible, it seems a little fishy to me.
I really want this song, I've requested the artist several times, and I will pay iTunes for it. The question is: is this legal? If it isn't, should I report this to Apple?

iPod Video Windows XPIt's not fishy, you just can't do it.
You need a credit card with a billing aqddress in the country you are trying to use the iTunes store in. -
when I receive word documents via my yahoo on my mac, the format always come up as a TEXTEDIT doc. This is causing me serious problems. How do I enable my documents to open in the original format it was sent?
Do you have Microsoft Word installed on your Mac? If so, you can reassign all .doc files to Word by selecting the file in Finder and choosing "File > Get Info" from the menu. In the window that opens look for "Open with" and change the entry to "Microsoft Word".

BUG! In Task-Manager/Performance/Up-Time displayed value - this may lead to serious consequences.
I noticed, for the second time, the value displayed in Task-Manager/Performance/Up-Time is, in my system, 3 times bigger than the real value.
Interestingly, I cannot detect it at the minute level, so, if you want to check it, you'd better do this:
1- switch off and then on, your system.
2- log in and check immediately, the Task-Manager/Performance/Up-Time value - it must be near zero (some time will have already passed).
3- wait 3 full hours (use your wrist watch) and compare the values - you'll see a clear discrepancy.
Of course, you cannot switch off your system while waiting, but you can use it normally, inclusive switching users.
As this is related to timer interrupts, this may lead to serious problems, depending the real cause of the problem.
