Is this normal behaviour?
I close the lid of my macbook pro, it goes to sleep pretty much straight away (the indicator starts breathing), I put it in my bag and head off.
When I take it out of my bag a few hours later, the power is off, and it wont turn on - I guess it woke up in my bag and ran itself out of battery (I know this should NOT happen but is quite common, this isn't the behavior I'm querying about).
So I connect the AC adapter to my mbp, the little light on the adapter tip goes orange (charging). When i switch on my mbp the screen goes that light blue/grey whatever it is... but just freezes, it doesnt even do the very first chime.
I switch it off again, and let it charge for about half an hour, then switcheit on, and the same thing happens! Wont get past the initial light screen BEFORE the chime.
I let it charge over night, and now I can switch it on.
Is this normal? I.e. when the battery is fully drained, can you not run the MBP off the AC?
i have to agree about the odd behavior regarding the mbp waking while closed. it seems like i notice this too. one thing i thought of is the power settings- if they are set to wake or whatever at a certain time.
i don't know about your issue on restarting (failure of it). in my case when i was dead from no power, it seems to start with the power plugged in. BUT i do have issues similar but differant than yours.in my case if the mbp doesn't start at tht point i have to do a HARD restart- and just hold the power button down. this may not be related to the charge/power. but more like the sleep state locked up the system. my screen stays black and will either show the spinning wheel, or noththing. so similar but a different scenario than yours.
one big question is WHY if they are asleep are they waking?
related point: if it can wake while closed, why can't we purposely keep the mbp running while closed? LOL
seriously though, i know people say to preotect the HD while carrying the laptop etc. BUT ther are so many times when i want to close the mbp while running!! like playing itunes to a stereo- i don't want o keep the mbp open, and i just want to set it on the table or something. BUT I want to keep playing music. or perhaps close the lid, while doing a 20minute virus scan, or close the lid while other stuff. but i don't want to leave the lid open while doing any o fthese things.
seems odd, if the mbp can wake on it's own while closed, why can't we keep it awake while closed?

Outline Stroke – normal behaviour?
Here's a strange anomaly I bumped into.
I drew a single open path with its ends crossing (see black line on the shot below).
When I outline the stroke everything runs into one instead of overlapping (see red shape).
Separate paths produce overlapping objects when outlined, so I would have expected the shape in my example to overlap itself.
It is as if a Pathfinder Unite has been applied.
Is this normal behaviour? Has Illie always done it this way?Steve,
Is this normal behaviour? Has Illie always done it this way?
It is always diffiult to determine whether a behaviour is normal or even rational, but she has always behaved that way.
I believe she sees a (self overlapping) path as one object and is unable to decide a split into parts, even though there is an order of Anchor Points; and after all, a self overlapping path may have only one segment so it is not always possible to consider an order of segments.
Apart from that, a split would lead to separate paths, would it not (with coinciding ends that would be stroked if the paths were to be stroked)?
And if the order should be shown without splitting the path, would it not require some rather strange solutions, apart from giving her a splitting headache trying to figure them out? -
My N82 is always connected to WAP, is this normal?
Hi there, I am on 02 and just got a new Nokia N82. I have noticed that there is always a packet data connection made to '02 Postpay WAP'. If I hold in the red key it asks me if I want to disconnect the data connection and when I select yes, it starts the connection again moments later and at the top left of the screen under the signal bar, there are 2 arrows pointing away from eachother with the letter "E" above it. Also whenever I finish a call I get a message saying 'packet data connection active' which is annoying me. Is this normal behaviour for the phone? When I went into active connections is says that the connection to 02 wap has been made for x amount of hours, and i never turn the phone off so it's always connected. Also it shows that data has been transfered and this worries me as I only get 1Mb allowance of WAP per month before I am charged for it. Any help on this issue would be much appreciated.
Solved!
Go to Solution. It does this to allow you to connect quicker. It shouldn't be costing you anything in data but it may be slightly reducing battery life.
You can change it's behaviour in the following menu:
Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Packet Data > Packet Data Connection
Change it from "When Available" to "When Needed".
If this has no effect it could be another program running in the background thats causing the connection to stay open. The most common cause is email software.

Black screen after startup until home pressed - is this normal?
Hi there,
I've just got a new ipad and have a question please. After I turn it on it very briefly shows the swipe to unlock screen (about 2 seconds) then goes to a black screen. If I press the home button it comes back again for about 5 seconds before going black again unless I swipe and then it works fine. Is this normal behaviour please? I can't find anything to describe this as normal or in the settings to change it.
Thanks for your help!
MikeYes, it is normal. The screen goes right back to power saving sleep mode if you do not swipe to unlock it. The assumption being, if you do not swipe to unlock, you are not using it so why waste power lighting up the screen.
If you go to settings->general->auto-lock and set it to "never" then once you swipe to unlock the screen will remain lit and active until you manually press the hardware sleep button (or use a magnetic closure, like the Apple smart cover or smart case), but that also may waste a lot of power. -
Validation not working on Qualified Field!!!! is this Normal!!!
Hi All,
I have an Integer field in the Qualified table.
Name-> Non Qualifier -> Type Text
Code -> Qualifier -> type Integer
Now, i need to write a validation which throws error If user enters a number whose length is less than 4 or greater than 4.
The business requirement is User should enter Exactly 4 Numeric values. Not less and not more.
As integer type field done not control Field length i have written a validation.
I have written a validation..
IF(IS_NULL(MAINLOOKUP.Code),1,IF(LEN(MAINLOOKUP.Code)<4 , 0 ))
But this is not working.
this works for a Normal Integer field which is in Main table, But this is not working when Code field is in Qualified table!!!
Is this the normal Behaviour of MDM??
Or am i missing something!!!
Experts please provide your suggestions.
Note: i changed the Code field to Text and made length as 4 in field property, But this is not controlling if user keys in only 2 values.
So written the above validation on text field as well, But it does not work.
Kind Regards
EvaHello Eva
Ok
Just imagine
you have some record in your main table with some QLUT
Qlut contain next fields
item_name - type text
item_value - type integer qualified = yes
and list of values
q1
q2
q3
q4
your main table contain next fields
name-text
Qlut->your Qlut
qlut_code->text
qlut_value_>text
For qlut_code create assignment like Qlut.code
For qlut_value create assignment like Qlut.value
add some records to main table like this:
name=test1
in qlut select next:
item name =Q1
item value=1
item name =Q2
item value=2
item name =Q3
item value=3
and another one record in main like this:
name=test2
in qlut select next:
item name =Q1
item value=1
item name =Q3
item value=3
item name =Q4
item value=4
item name =Q3
item value=33
select both records and run both assignments
If your assignments is correct
In first main record you have got
qlut_code=3:Q1;Q2;Q3
qlut_value_>3:1;2;3
for second main record you have got
qlut_code=4:Q1;Q3;Q4;Q3
qlut_value_>4:1;3;4;33
Then you can use records values from qlut_code and qlut_value for validation
This is work fine.
I hope, you have got my point

Lumia 800 Keyboard Problem - Is this Normal?
When using some apps (Facebook, for example) the virtual keyboard becomes partially unresponsive - pressing any key in the bottom two rows is almost impossible. Also, in the messaging app, the 'send' button is inactive when the keyboard is visible. I have to press the 'Back' button to dismis the keyboard before I can press send.
I have set a passcode to protect the phone. Sometimes the keypad for entering the code shows the same behaviour, some of the keys are unresponsive.
Switching the display off and on usually restores the keys.
In all other respects the phone seems to be ok.
Is this normal? Not normal, at least not for me, only nit picking I have is that when the keyboard is visible, and I'm in portrait mode typing a text message, I have to hit the bottom part of the send button, otherwise it registers as a comma.
But I have no unresponsiveness in the lock screen or anywhere else, only "lag" I've experienced is in IE when typing something in an input box, the letters sometimes lag behind for a second or less if I've just zoomed in.
Works like a charm, like my old iPhone. -
250 GIG drive formats to only 233 GIGs. Is this normal?
Hello,
I have read that when you format a drive the file system takes some of the space on this disk. I just formatted a new 250 Hitachi T7K250 SATA drive and it formats to 232.67 GIGs. Does this sound right? I thought it might result in about 240 GIGs but it seems to me I am loosing some disk space somewhere. Or is this normal? I thought I would write this post just to confirm that this is normal hard drive formatting behaviour.
I formatted the disk with Tiger's Disk Utility and I chose the "write zeros" option.
I have also read that there may appear to be lost space on the drive due to the various ways Gigabytes are measured.
Is 233 Gigs a normal formatted amount for a 250 Gig drive?
Thanks. Not exactly. Can you express it in powers of 1024?
Yes. Inherently, however, it's all powers of 2.
That's right but you are not using the the powers 2^x, (x not equal
10,20,30,...), so effectively you are using base 1024.
2^10 equals 1024^1, which is 1 kilobyte.
2^20 equals 1024^2, which is 1 megabyte.
2^30 equals 1024^3, which is 1 gigabyte.
Exactly and only powers of 1024 have a name. So when it comes to drive sizes only powers of 1024 are relevent.
So actually you are using
1024^1 = 2^10 (kilo)
1024^2 = 2^20 (mega)
1024^3 = 2^30 (giga)
So, drive sizes are specified as powers of 2, which
can also be expressed as powers of 1024 (but computer
scientists never talk about powers of 1024, they talk
about powers of 2).
Yes but sometimes if makes sense to talk in powers of 16 (hexadecimal) and
powers of 1024. It used mainly because it can be expressed as a power of two, but still the base remains 16 or 1024.

Monitoring the jms connection - normal behaviour
Hi all,
-> We have a SNMP agent on a managed server and is targeted to the same.
-> We have not created any gauge monitor,String monitor or counter monitor, its all blank.
Question:
Considering the above setup, If there is a new jms connection should SNMP call the jmx to get the reference of the jms connection.??
Is this the normal behaviour of weblogic with no monitor attributes specified?
/SREnable the JMX on domain by adding below JVM Options to domain.xml, then from the JDK/bin use JConsole, this very light weight and gives all the info of JVM.
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote - this will allow the IS to use the same MBeanServer as the VM instead of starting a new one
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=18010 - the port the MBeanServer listens on
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false - no security
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false - no SSL either

When Ping my Server i get a IPv6. Is this normal?
Hi,
I have made a new and clean install of Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials on my local office server and when i ping or traceroute my server from one of my office desktop computers that is running Windows 8.1 i get a IPv6 address instead of a regular IPv4 IP
address.
So my question is if this is the normal behaviour? Or should i disable something on my server to get IPv4 address?
Im asking this because on my network i have always used IPv4 and on my current setup is my router running the DHCP that has a permanent IPv4 IP 192.168.0.10 lease setup for the server. So should't i get the IPv4 192.168.0.10 address instead of the IPv6 address?
So my question is if this is the normal behaviour? Or should i disable something on my server to get IPv4 address?
ThanksHi,
It is normal for clients that have IPv6 enabled to use it to communicate between themselves, theres nothing to worry about with this.
if you want to use only IPv4 you can disable IPv6 on your network cards on PCs/Servers but this isn't recommended and theres no real need to do it. Your machines still have and can use IPv4 addresses to communicate as well as the IPv6 ones.
Thanks
Daniel
Hi Daniel,
Thanks for your advice.
On my office i have some desktop computers running Windows 8.1 and others running Windows 7. All the DHCP and DNS are managed by my router (TP-Link TL-ER5120) and on the router is set permanent IPv4 IP lease for my server.
So should i change or disable IPv5 on my server ir this way he is using both IPv4 and IPv6 at the same time?
In a simple way, i just want to make sure all my office network is properly setup, because before i installed Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials i have never saw IPv6 addresses on my network. Also on my router i can find the option to enable or disabe IPv6.
So can someone please advice the best setup for my case?

Got iTunes 11.0.2 - as far as I know the latest version. My iPod classic no longer connects - gone through all on the "help" still won't work. There is nowhere with the word "device" and the iPod has now been wiped clean. Is this normal with the new version?
You might want to try connecting to another computer with an older version of iTunes. If it connects, reformat it straight away just in case before adding your songs back in. Otherwise, you might want to seek for help at the official iTunes stores in your country. Chances are that the iPod might be corrupted, though iTunes being the problem can't be ruled out either.

Battery and Sleep issues. Is this "normal"?
Hey guys, ever since day 1 My new MBP has been experiencing the sleep issue where in sleep the battery would lose about 1-2%/hour. I would go to sleep with the battery at 100%, and wake up to only about 87%. Also, when it was new the battery had about 4650 for full charge capacity, now its showing only 4540 after 10 cycles!!! Is this normal? Please help my MBP is less than 2 weeks old I have owned the previous MBP model, and the battery life during sleep was considerably better than this, and also it took less time to charge the battery!
Charge Information:
Charge remaining (mAh): 3463
Fully charged: No
Charging: Yes
Full charge capacity (mAh): 4540
Health Information:
Cycle count: 10
Condition: Good
Battery Installed: Yes
Amperage (mA): 881
Voltage (mV): 12070
*I have also just updated the upgrade to 10.5.6. Will update and report if this will help with the sleep/battery issue.
Thanks for your help!

Closing the device deletes what has been typed to that point. Is this normal?
Closing the device deletes what has been typed as an e-mail up to that point. Is this normal, and can it be avoided?
If the content you typed was actually saved before you quit the session, it should be there
later on when you open it again. There may be some settings in preference to auto-save
that may need checking; or perhaps there could be something else behind this issue...
To be sure, which device do you refer? -
Taking such a long time to open an app. Is this normal?
I recently received my new Blackberry Classic (Verizon Wireless). I love my keyboard and how the email works. But this phone has such long delays while trying to do anything.
I setup my office exchange account.
When I open reminders and select my Tasks folder it takes 20 seconds to load. If I answer a phone call and come back to the reminders I need to wait another 20 seconds. Is this normal? Or is something wrong? Should I reset the phone?
I appreciate any help or input I can get.

I ordered the full creative cloud on sunday and received an order number but still can't open any of the programs. When i check the status of my order online, it says it can't find it. Is this normal after 3 days? I tried asking in a chat window instead of the forum but no one answered and after about ten minutes my screen restarted and closed the chat window down. It seems a little frustrating not knowing what happened to my order and not being able to contact anyone. Is all this usual with Adobe or are they just having technical problems this week?
