Is this normal for the Optical Drive?
I don't know if this has already been asked but....
I am kinda worried about the optical drive on my mini.
Has anyone else noticed that the optical drive on the minis is kinda loud, especially right after you have put in a disk? All disks that i put in the drive make a sound like they are hitting against something, but stop after a couple of seconds.
Also, is it normal for a kind of "fluttering" sound to come from the drive when you are playing a DVD (it happens about every 5-10 seconds but doesn't effect the playing at all)?
And finally, are all minis designed so you have to push a disk at least 5/6 of the way before the drive ***** it in?
Yes to all questions.
Optical drives these days make a lot of noise. You don't hear it in something as large as a tower computer because the computer has its entire case to pick up the vibrations. With the drive just under the case cover and nothing to make distribute very far, it will make more noise on a notebook or Mac Mini just because of the constrained space.
That said, if put sticky labels on disks, or get extra thick disks that is not very good for slot loading drives. See this article on nonstandard media:

If you want more flexibility with media, external Firewire and USB optical drives exist. http://www.macsales.com/ has a nice selection that offer full compatibility.

Correct.
You need to go to ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/.
The ~ indicates your User folder not the top level /Library/ folder.
Click on the desktop, then hold Option and go to Finder menu Go and Library will be there (only when holding Option as it is hidden). -

Since Lion came pre installed on your Mac, the App Store doesn't not recognize that as a purchase so you if you want to re download Lion to create a boot disk you will have to pay for it. You can then re download Lion on all your authorized Macs for free. -

All smartphones tend to get hot from use. Both because of you holding it and from all the hardware working when in use.
Battery will go faster on smartphones due to the touchscreen, hardware, animations, etc. You should expect to charge every 1-2 day.

Is this normal for the iPad's front facing camera?
Whenever I use the front facing camera, there is always a tiny white line at the exact same spot, regardless if I rotate it. It isn't a problem with the screen because if I switch to the rear facing camera everything's normal. I would love to post a pic but I dint know how. Does anyone know if it is a hardware problem or just the light?
You can make a screenshot by pressing both keys once (home and sleep) for an instant, until you see a flash.
It may be an hardware problem; is there a strong light behind you? Some cameras are sensitive to some light sources and may show a line. -
Is it normal for the phone battery to heat up?
I own a Nokia 5800, and purchased it back in 2009. Basically, I have started to notice that the charge only lasts about a day or so, nothing more, which means i have to charge it fully every day. I would expect it to last longer, like it did before (sorry, i can't remeber how long it used to last before, never bothered really, to tell the truth).
Another concern of mine is that it heats up alot while watching videos or GPS, especally while watching youtube videos on the inbuilt web browser (using flash that is). When I say "it heats up", i mean i can literally use it as a heater if my hands are cold. If I take off the back cover after watching youtube videos, its blazing (ie. very hot)! I don't want the intenal circuit, sim card or battery cover to melt... or am i being a bit too cautious? I definately don't want it to catch fire, although i doubt it wil lol
So, is this normal for the Nokia 5800 or not? If not then what should I do?
Thnx!It is normal for the phone to heat up when using processor intensive programmes like video or Navigation, depending on usage, a day isn't 'that' bad, but you can buy replacement batteries quite cheap, I have a 1900mAh one in my N97 !

MacBook Air does not have an optical drive. There is a program I wish to install on my Air which is an astronomy application called Megastar V. Installation requires the use of a CD. Is there a way to use the optical drive on my PC (toshiba laptop using Windows 7) to install this program onto my Air?

iMac internal drive locks up after trying to play a DVD. CD's work properly. All preference settings are correct. I have tried several different DVD's that work in other drives. Drive is : HL-DT-ST DVDRW GA11N. After spinning wheel of doom goes away, so does the optical drive in Disk Utility and System Profiler and no disks work because the drive isn't there until a restsrt. Any ideas? Thanks.
The battery alone is a $5 to $15 part. Hard drives vary in cost, and depending on the iMac, they may or may not be able to install a third party hard drive, or one resold through Apple. Using the optical drive of a MacBook Pro from new iMac for iTunes
Can I connect my macbook pro to my new iMac (no optical drive) with ethernet cable and use the optical drive of the macbook pro to upload CDs to iTunes on the new iMac?
On my 17" MacBook Pro I use the eSata port for Black X Duet Hard Drive Docking station where I put 2 1TB Hitachi internal drives. They are swappable and are about $80.00US. I use the USB port for my system backup and a G-force 500 MB bus powered portable drive on the FW800 port just for the heck of it. It works out really well for me.

I have a 4 year old Mac Book. I can't insert a CD. When I try the CD goes almost 1/2 way in and then hits something hard. Using Terminal and "cdutil eject" indicated that there was no disk in the drive.
Any sugggestions? Or should I plan on replacing the optical drive?See if the pevious discussions listed on the right side of this page under the heading More Like This help.

Ive had my 13 inch macbook pro for less than 30 days and the battery health has gone down to 92% and the computer itself is so slow...i paid $50.00 for an OLD windows computer with 512 mb of ram and it is much faster..is this normal for mac?? Also, apple says there is nothing they can/wil do even though i got the apple care....i mean really? $50.00 for 2002 computer with windows XP and 512mb of ram and a single core processor......faster and more usable than $1400.00 computer with 4gb of ram and dual core processor.....***???

I thought I had found the offending 'app' namely "Songpop."
I regularly use "Songpop" on my phone late at night via my wifi connection.
All enteries on my phonebill are at midnight (even though I have a data allowance it was excluded from allowance). I switched 3G off on Friday, played "Songpop" at midnight and at the exact time I got a "Server Error" message.
I posted a message on the "Songpop" support forum.At first they said this was a problem relating to my ISP.
I have spoken to my ISP and asked if there are connection drops at the time I have been billed (ie to establish if my wifi dropped and 3G kicked in without my knowledge) and have been advised that there aren't any connection drops at that time.
