Is this Paint Effect POSSIBLE?!

I'm relatively new to Illustrator and I've been trying all possible tutorials and techniques but I can't figure out the best approach to achieve this effect, any suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

If your just after a reasonable vector facsimile of the look, try converting a gradient to a mesh using the "object>expand", ungroup and delete the mask, then use the Warp Tool to create the drip effect.

  • Oil Paint effect to Video Timeline Clip

Check out this video I put together for this question,
    http://youtu.be/tPiNYqk3BcQ
As you can see I'm just playing around w/ the effect/amounts etc.
I had to manually apply this effect at every frame in the Photoshop's Timeline, which takes a to long... I would love to do it to whole clips. What's the best workflow for that?
A way I tried w little success before was to split the clip into individual frames, (forget how to do that) & then apply a batch command to all the pics, I remember trying this method & it not working w/ Oil Paint effect.
    Thanks for your help.

You can apply the Filter to an imported clip in Video Timeline Animation as opposed to Frame Animation.
But if you are trying to animate the settings of the Filter I guess you may be trying to fit a round peg in a square hole (or however that figure of speech goes) and might be better served with using the proper program for the task, possibly After Effects.

  • Paint Effect

    Hello Everyone!
I'm relatively new to photoshop and would like to know how I could achieve this intertwining paint effect...   Please reply fast! Thankss

You have to be a bit lateral in the way you look at and interpret the tutorials.  In fact I used two Render effects to do this:
This shows the layers involved, and the settings for the upper Hue/Saturation layer.
Start with foreground set to the colour you want the marble to be, and background white.
Make a new layer and go Filter > Render Clouds
Use a levels layer to harden up the clouds (bring black and white sliders towards the centre)
Now make a new layer, and fill with 50% grey, and go Filter > Render Difference Clouds.
Open a Levels layer above the Difference clouds, and clip to the difference clouds layer (the left most icon in the properties panel).  Adjust black and white sliders so you get thin white lines on black background.
Select the difference clouds and levels layer, and merge them (Ctrl e or Cmd e)
Invert the resulting layer, so you have black lines on white background
Make a Hue/Saturation layer above, and clip to the layer below. Click on Colourize and adjust settings to suite.  You can use the image above as a guide.
Set the difference clouds layer blend mode to Overlay, and adjust opacity for best effect.
I used Liquify and the Smudge tool on the Clouds layer.  The smudge tool is probably most useful because you can see what is happening in real time.  I think that was everything I did, but ask if you get stuck.
    Good luck.
[EDIT]  Just looked at your example again.  I used the Smudge tool at 50%, but if you set it to 100% you would get the long swirls more easily.
BTW  The Difference Clouds bit above is the classic Photoshop way of making Lightning.

  • How Did I Do It?  Oil Painting Effect- Really Realistic!

I'm sure I was using PS CS3 32 bit on Windows XP when I did this...
Notice in the model's hair the shiny reflections of the thick "oil" brush strokes.  I have used Eye Candy and Photo Tools before, but about all I find when I search now is pixel bender, and that doesn't come close.  Any ideas?  I would love to be able to do this again!
I'm using 12.0.4 64 bit on Windows 7 Home Premium.  Thanks!

There are lots of ways you might have done that.
You might google for photoshop Oil painting effect or Russell Brown has some great painting videos for cs5

  • Oil painting effect in Photoshop 7.0

How can I emulate oil painting effect in Photoshop 7.0.1?
I don't want to upgrade to newer versions .
    Are there alternatives? thanks.

GIMP, Krita, PDPaint, Flamepainter and otehr freeware programs have all sorts of vector blur/ smear/ flame filters that could emulate this in one way or another...

  • Paint effect with Illustrator file

I have an Illustrator graphic of a plant that I want to animatate to look like it is growing.  The Stroke effect does not give me that desired look as it just animates the outline of the shape and the Paint effect does not seem to work the same in Creative Cloud as it did in prevoius versions of AE.
I have a few questions.  Can you not use the paint tool on Illustrator files?  If I try to double click the layer to open in the layer window, the computer beeps.  I have to right click to open in the layer window.  I also cannot not use the paint tool on the AI file once it is loaded in the layer window.  As a test, I saved the AI files as a PSD and tried to use the paint tool to create my animation and it appears that no longer use that tool to reveal an image.  I can just animate the strokes.
Is there a way to use the Stroke effect the way I want to or is there another way to create my animation.

I did figure out after posting this that I was using one .ai file and one .eps file—the .ai was showing up fine in the pdf and the eps was showing up screwy.
odd thing though, when I just re-exported using pdf/x–1a settings, now both images appear muddy! but fine when I turn "overprint preview" on. I just don't want my publisher to have to tell everybody to turn overprint preview on...they shouldn't have to do that for editors etc, non design people.
maybe the new "smallest file size" will be fine though since this is a press preset...we'll see.

  • Looking for "cut-out template / spray paint" effect shortcut plugin.

Does anyone know of an existing action or plugin that produces a realistic "cut-out template / spray paint" effect like the one seen here?
I know I could accomplish this manually, but it would take a lot longer and I have a series of these I need done.
    Thanks!

I doubt anyone can work out exactly what you are after, from the way you have worded your question.  Will all these templates be the same, and if not, what will they look like?  Have you tried searching for Brush sets using the search criteria you are after?

  • Spray Paint Effect in Illustrator

Recently I accidentally started to make a spray paint effect over one of my layers in illustrator and I was wondering if anyone knew how to do it so I can use it again?

Shift S - switch to symbol sprayer
Choose a symbol (Symbol palette flyout >> open library >> grime vector pack (if you have this one depends on your version)
    Spray some symbols
Switch to other symbol tools to variate the angle/size/color/Tint/etc

  • Paint effect to create an alpha channel

Can one use the paint effect in Motion 3 to create an alpha channel. I want to be able to create a matte around someones eye. I wanted to be able to create my key by painting it on. Will paint effect do this or do I need to use shake. Or is there another way of achieving this with Motion 3.

This is really easy to do and there might be an even easier way, but this i how I did it:-
    1) Create a group with your image you want to mask
    2) Add an image mask to your image and toggle to invert mask and stencil off
    3) Create another group but turn the visibilty off
    4) drop this group into the image mask
    5) Within this group, select the paint stroke tool basic solid and paint away!
Be careful you don't have the write on enabled as the mask will draw on, but maybe thats what you want!

  • I want replace my desktop with a iPad to do emails and Microsoft office work. Can this be effectively done? What's the downside if any?

I want replace my desktop with a iPad to do emails and Microsoft office work. Can this be effectively done? What's the downside if any?

I'll go down your list one by one.
    1. Access mail - which I know that the iPad can do.
    Enough said.
    2. Save an excel or word or ppt of PDF attachment for review.
You can view these types of documents natively on the iPad as Tgara has mentioned.
    3. Open an review and maybe change a excel or word file.
There are many apps that allow this.  I personally prefer Apples iWork programs, Pages, Numbers, Keynote.  They tightly integrate with iCloud.
    4. Resave such above files.
With Pages, Number, Keynote you can save/resave files in iCloud and locally.  Also you could use dropbox to save your files on dropbox and provide a way for you to share a folder with coworkers/family and they can add/view/review files from there and you can see the changes on your device.
    5. Reply to a mail attaching a file.
This is possible in many ways.  From dropbox, or another app you can email files with the share button.
    6. Be able to rename files and store them in specific folders.
This goes back to dropbox/iCloud.  iOS doesn't really have a traditional file system.  If you save a PDF it isn't saved anywhere you can just open it.  You would have to open an app that supports view PDFs and select the PDF you wish to view.  The same goes for documents, spreadsheets and etc.
Hopefully this helps answer your questions.

  • Woodcut Effect Possible?

I'm considering purchasing Photoshop Touch for iPad. I want to be able to convert photographs into something that looks like a woodcut or linocut to use as actual guides for making linoleum block prints. Will this be reasonably possible?

I am afraid that this cannot be achieved to your satisfaction.
However you may want to try the effects Pencil, Charcoal and/or Comic.
    Thanks!

  • Can I create this particular effect in FCE HD?

    Hi All,
I am trying to create a certain effect in Final Cut Express HD and I have no idea how to do it or if it is possible.
I need to highlight a certain part of a clip. Say for example you are looking at a crowd of people on a screen and a particular person is singled out and highlighted with a cirle - in effect dimming the rest of the scene...this is the effect I want to create.
If this is not possible, is there a way that I can use graphics to have an arrow pointing to that person in the scene...?
    Look forward to your assistance
    Kind Regards

It is reasonably easy to achieve. Basically it is like blurring out a face but in your case lightening it.
In this link you will find a tutorial called "Cops" which you can watch as it is explained. All you have to do is use the brightness control instead of the Gaussian Blur.

    Hi.
I came across this cool effect, does somone know how the
flying paper to the dancer was made?
Both if possible, paper going across and the dancer..

It comes with effort and patience! This effect is simple...
tweening... give it a go and see what you can achieve through trial
and error, you will get far more out of it than copying someones
    walkthrough.

p.s. I am not knowledgeable of Apple/iTunes etc, I was under the impression that if I purchased an album then I can use my purchase on a non-Apple device

    Micky,
The iTunes Store sells songs in AAC format.  Most Android phones can play AACs.  Just sync them to your phone per the instructions with the phone.
If by any chance your phone does require MP3 format, you can use iTunes to convert the files, per this guide:
iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format - Apple Support
(This conversion does not require burning.)
For future reference, note that the iTunes Store is really optimized for people using Apple devices.  You might find it more convenient to buy music in Mp3 format from Amazon Digital Music or Google Play Music.
