Is this phishing?  email re Apple ID

I have now received two emails - one telling me my Apple ID was insecure, and one telling me that my ID was used to purchase Skype credit in Russia.  I checked out the first one by separately going on the Apple ID site, and it told me all was verified.  Not sure how to check the second one, but am assuming a scam as the address is  [email protected]   Is there somewhere on the Apple site we can check possible scams out?

Notify Apple  … http://[email protected]
Yes.   In any event, if in doubt consider it is.   Report it to Apple then delete it.
The [email protected] is scam also

  • Phishing email from Apple???

    I received this today, below.
As I don't have an iMac, and have never heard of a 'do it yourself' repair, much less making a claim on one, I have to say - this is disturbing.
Another red flag is the 'we'll charge your card if you don't reply' bum's rush gambit.
How do I report phishing to Apple?
    Thoughts?
We have received your request for a Do-It-Yourself repair for your IMAC (20-INCH EARLY 2008). Your Repair ID is D27160161.
Part Name Price Tax Rate Tax Total Return Original Part? Non-Return Fee
    Keyboard, Wireless, British £0 £0 £0 Yes £48.00
    Total in GBP £0 0.00% £0 £0 £48.00
Our initial diagnosis indicates that because your Do-It-Yourself repair will likely be covered by the warranty, an AppleCare Protection Plan, or another Apple repair program, there should be no charge to you. If we have questions or concerns regarding the repair coverage, we will notify you.
The part(s) should arrive shortly and will come with installation instructions.
If Apple requires you to return any of the original parts, please note the following:
    1. Non-Return Fee
The non-return fee shown in the table above has been placed on your credit card as a temporary authorization. You must return the original part so that Apple receives it within ten (10) business days of shipping the replacement part to you. If Apple does not receive it within 10 days or determines that it has been subjected to accidental damage or misuse, Apple will charge your credit card the non-return fee.
    2. Shipping Instructions
    - The replacement part will come with instructions for returning the original to Apple using the packaging provided. Do not include any other items in the package, as they will not be returned to you.
    - If your product is shipped to you via Royal Mail, please seal the original part in the Royal Mail bag supplied. Then take it to a post office and request a "proof of posting" receipt, which you should keep in a safe place.
    - If your product is shipped to you via UPS, please return the packaged original part using the prepaid UPS shipping label and instructions supplied. To arrange collection, please call UPS at 08457 877877.
Your repair status is available online.

It did not come from Apple. Do not click on the link and do not supply your password. It is a scam. You can report the phishing email to Apple here:

Once you have done so, delete it.

  • I get an email from Apple? asking me to change my Apple ID password. Is this real?

I have been getting an email from Apple? asking me to change my Apple ID password. Is this real. I have never seen it before in many years of Mac use. I don't want to click on it in case it's fraudulent. Has this happened to anyone else?

If you were able to use your existing Apple ID and password to successfully log in to this site and post your question, then they remain valid and the email is a phishing attempt. Delete it.
To anyone else coming across this post who fell victim to this or a similar phishing scam by entering their Apple ID and password on the authentic-looking page linked in the email: your credentials have been stolen.

I was send an email via apple stating that I need to update my credit card information or my account will be cancelled in 48hours. Is this a valid email or fraud. I had the iphone for more than 2 years and did not receive a similar email

It's a phishing attempt to get your account and payment details (Apple don't send emails like that) . If you still have the email then you could forward it to Apple : [email protected]

  • I just got an email from Apple, asking me to complete a survey.  If I don't then I'll loose my Apple ID.  I think this is spam/virus/hacker.  Anybody have any info on this?

There have been a number of phishing scam emails going around for at least half a year...do not respond, click links, or do anything with that email.  Apple does not operate that way.

  • I got an email from Apple saying that my credit card was declined when I never used it. I am wondering if it is a phishing email.

    Here is the email -

After reading your reply, I am almost convinced that it was a phishing email. It was not personalized and was addressed to 'dear client'.
Also the entire email was a hyperlink to
    http://www.nada.com.sa/your-nada/blend-us-a-mix/images/tmp/174733-ap.html
which was then automatically directed to

This page looked like a genuine apple web page and all other links on this page were going to real Apple's UK website!
They did their best to convince that the email genuinely came from Apple.

  • Phishing emails that purport to be sent by Apple

Ignore emails titled "IOS 7.1.6 - Security - Apple ID" (or similar). They are NOT from Apple and are phishing emails. They look very authentic, but do not click on any links in these emails.  I've recently gotten two of them: (1) sent 3/10/2014 from email address 'valdosaurus.mschosting.com' and (2) sent 3/20/2014 from email address 'webxc28s01.ad.aruba.it'. These emails claimed that information about my Credit Card had recently been changed in my Apple (store) account, and was a warning to me in case I had not made any such change on the dates the emails were generated.
In fact I had no credit card on file in my Apple account, nor had I accessed my account in recent months. An Apple website support representative that I talked to said Apple does not sent emails to Apple website users, and that the email addresses of the 2 emails I received are not associated with Apple.  I did not click on any of the authentically-identified links in these emails, so I don't know where they really would have taken me, but not likely where they indicated.

    Is 2.9 MB too large?
No, in terms of Mail.app. As WZZZ said, this limit is set by your ISP.
Yes, in terms of netiquette. Google it. Any file > 1MB is, IMHO, too big for e-mail. Nowadays, this rule may be more relaxed, because more people have broadband. You should check with your intended recipient.

  • Is this is phishing email?

I have received an email purporting to be from Apple: [email protected] asking me to verify my details. I suspect it is phishing e-mail partly because it lists the email addresses of all the recipients and because it refers to "informations" which is grammatically incorrect.  Is this a scam? I have not used any of the links in the email because it does seem so suspicious. If it isn't a phishing email, why would Apple send out a mass e-mail with all the other recipients' email addresses visible? This is bad form under data protection.

Thank you both for confirming that this is indeed a phishing e-mail. What worries me in particular is that I had changed my Apple password the day before and it seems that the process may be open to hacking for the scammers to have picked up on my email address straightaway. I have sent on to Apple but looking through these community discussions, this does seem to happen a lot.

  • I cannot sync my iphone music, i had used my i phone on another pc, now when i bought a song on this computer from the apple store, i have just been sent an email that says Your Apple ID, was just used to purchase "" by a computer or device not prev assoc

i cannot sync my iphone music, i had used my i phone on another pc, which died.  Ive managed to save the hard drive and transfer stuff across. I ended up smashing my phone and could update all other stuff on restore but cant sync any music.  It is all grey at the top of the screen.  Ive re installed itunes and cleared all phone data. Now when i bought a song on this computer from the apple store, i have just been sent an email that says Your Apple ID, was just used to purchase (a song ) by a computer that had not been previously associated with that apple id.  So do i have to tell apple now somehow i am using itunes on this pc, and if so how? Because i authorised it and it said this pc was one of 5 aujthorised.  if anyone can be of assistance then great!

I'm having a similar problem.  I had previously (over a year ago) purchased 2 episodes of Law & Order.  Then about 2 months ago, I purchased the 3rd season of Sons of Anarchy.  When I downloaded these episodes to my iPad, about a dozen full seasons of various shows popped up, too.  No money was removed from my iTunes account & theses particular shows aren't in my iTunes library on my desktop.  I've tried every which way to delete them from my ipad, but can't.  I went to the Apple store & they suggested I contact expresslane.apple.com for help.  I submitted my problem, via email Friday, as they asked, but have not received any response.  Any suggestions on how to get rid of these "phantoms?".

Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
