Is this possible :Boss 1180 optical out Mac G5 optical in available as Logic channel ?
I have installed logic 8 on an inherited Mac G5 .Can I use hard disc recorder Boss 1180 optical out as an input to G5 optical in ,
and have it appear as an available input in Logic .Is there a special procedure to" connect ' thus into Logic ?
Same problem after 4yrs Sony drive did not read new Donald Fagen MVI disc or any DVD disc. Other World Computing has a new Pioneer superdrive out the door at 42$ with two day air. It took 20 min to install and runs great.

When I connect my Mac Mini 2011 with Lion to a TV via HDMI and an earphone cable is plugged in, it´s not possible to choose sound out via hdmi, as opposed to connection via the minidisplay port. Anybody knows how to fix this?

The solution was as follows for me anyway...
Go to your Finder
Choose the Go Menu
Choose Computer
Choose your Macintosh Hard Drive
Choose your "Library" Folder
Choose the "Preferences" Folder
There should be a folder called "Audio"
Move that whole folder to the trash
Empty the Trash
Restart from the Apple Menu
When you are back up and running;
Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu
Choose Sound
In the output tab you should now be able to make the HDMI "Sticky"
Enjoy your sound over HDMI and no more dirty knees or broken backs unplugging the desktop speakers!

I've recently purchased some workout DVD's and was wondering if I can copy them to my mac, then watch them on my Apple TV so I don't wear the DVD's out and have to buy new ones. Is this possible?

DVD's do not wear out from being played. Nothing makes any physical contact with them to cause any wear.
And yes you can "RIP" a DVD and add it to iTunes which would let ATV play them. You will need to Google RIPPING DVD though for details. It violates the terms of service for the forum to talk about it here.
And in response to Rudder'scomment ALL DVD's are encrypted. That is why you need HandBreak (and VideoLan) to decrypt them. -
I need to transfer a mac iMovie video to the camera roll of my iPad, is this possible?
I have a MacBook Pro with iMovie, an iPad 3 and a PC. I took video on the iPad, created a movie on the Mac with iMovie and now I want to save that movie back to the camera roll in the iPad so I can transfer it to the PC and share it with others on PC. Is this possible? How else could I get this video on my PC?
I can not email the file it is too large.
I am at the office an unable to connect iPad or MacBook to wifi for any cloud sharing.

Go out to the home screen and select Projects at the top of the screen,
Tap on the project you want to export to the Camera Roll,
Select the icon in the middle which looks like a box with an arrow pointing up [^],
Save Movie is your next selection,
Choose which resolution you want to save the movie in,
You can now find it in your Camera Roll.
I'm very glad you asked actually because I tried exporting a movie I shot in 1080p in the lowest resolution, 320p, and it still looks great--I mean like YouTube great, not Vimeo great. -

i wanted to resize my windows partition. I was thinking of using the default backup system for windows. Then switching to mac partion, deleting the bootcamp and then restoring a new enlarged partition from the backup. Is this possible?I see youhave gotten recommendatons for using WinClone or CampTune. I have used both and they both work well.
You have asked about using the WIndows 7 utility to backup your drive and restor it onto a larger partition. I will tell you fro experience that this will probably not do what you want, and may do something that you don't want. You can use the Windows 7 native backup tool to make a backup of your Windows 7 partition. It will most liekly end-up making a dive image of the whole drive. When yourestore that backup, it will try to re-create teh partitions of exactly the same size as they were when the backup was taken, so it won't increase your partition size for you. Worse, since Windows doesn't natively know how to read./write HFS+ volumes, the backup will make a partition for your MacOS (replacing any you may have now), except that the copy restored by WIndows will be totally worthless, and you will not be able to boot MacOS from it, or even read it under MacOS.
Now I will tell you that I've also had some fairly good success working with the free tool CloneZilla. Since it hasn't been mentioned yet, and everything else mentioned does cost you money, I thought I would throw it out. CloneZilla is not as easy to use as the tools mentioned, but it has worked for me int hte past, so it is something to consider. I tend to use CampTune myself, but that was because I purchased a bundle deal for them and it was included in that deal. -

On the Touch log out of the iCloud account.
If the kids know the Apple ID and password used for the iCloud account then change your password and keep it to yourself.

Hi - Re Keynote I'm trying to figure out how to create a music album (as an artist) on USB flash drive, (accessible by both Mac and PC). What I want is a background picture with 'click-buttons' to play each track listed, and play in order (like a cd) - also similar for embedded videos and photos etc. This should all be on the one page.
Is this possible with Keynote, or any other software package for Mac (am using Macbook Pro) ?

I'm a owner of the X-fi Elite Pro, and for me the headphone + speakers settings works very well. Just to be sure, you bought the X-Fi XtremeGamer Falalty Pro Series? and not the XtremeGamer Fatalty Champ Series or even the old regular X-Fi Fatalty? If so, I'm quite sure you need the I/O box with the 6.35 mm (/4 inch) steroe jack. My headphones are connected through the /4 inch jack on the Elite Pro unit and my 5. surround system through the X-Fi card's 3x /8? mini jack.
I guess you have to buy the X-Fi I/O Dri've Upgrade Kit (or the Console Upgrade Kit) to use your headphones and speakes at he same time. I chose the Console because i couldn't li've with a thick and ugly digital cable sticking out in the front of my PC?

Mac Pro 2.66 Logic , still synch error ? is this possible ?
well , here goes my suprise . got recently Mac Pro 2.66 , one of the fastest machines around and i still get "could not synchronise data in time " error when CPU Usage of OS X is only on 12% !!! with not much happening in a Song ? is this still draging every body else down ? i used to have a lot of synch errors when i was on Pentium 4 Logic 5.5
now i switched to Mac hoping to have better workflow and still having Logic stoping because of that annoying synch error. what about you out there , quad owners !
p.s. i have audio buffer on set 125 . should not be a problem
with quad 2.66 . am i wrong ?

Mac Pro 2.66 Mac OS X (10.4.8)i think logic is fine Instrument it needs to be improved just as any other major DAW's . synch errors like , coundn't process data in time etc, is 20th century . there is enough tech knowelege nowedays to sort this legacy of the past out . what i'm afraid to go into is to start twicking OS till i would go Grey and not having any improvement as i did when i was usin PC & Windos . Melissa .., i have those error poping up without audio files in a song , only logic Synths and Stylus can cause those pop up . i don't want to dramatize it i have qute bearable interaptions but still those kind of Audio or whatever related problems they might be should be sorted out once and for all by Apple . also i constructed audoload on a new system i was using Cubase before i moved to Mac .
for Chris', attention i've got quite qood Audio interface hooked up : Yamaha i88x Mlan interface .
i'm hopeing to hear more feedback on this thread though.

I want to use my Mac desktop as a portal for viewing my cable television via some kind of cord. Is this possible and what do I need to set this up?
It can be done with analog but not digital thanks to "good 'ol" HDCP copy protection which apple (and most other manufacturers) unfortunately respect.
So you can take the analog output from your cable box (component -- 5 cables -- if it has it but generally they all have composite -- 3 cables) and feed it into some kind of converter or into some appropriate pci card for your mac pro. But none of them are going to let you directly use the HDMI output from the box to your computer.
Bottom line, no single cord is going to work and it will never be the higher quality digital picture you get on your tv.
Some qualification: There are boxes that I think support hdmi input. Look at Blackmagic. But I still don't think you can get around the HDCP from the cable box (might depend on the kind of cable box). -
I own a Mac book Pro 13" it has a 250 gb solid state drive and I would like to put a larger one in is this possible.
You don't need to partition your drive to run Fusion, only if you want to run Bootcamp.
If you have space on your Windows partition, I would suggest you backup your Windows partition, and then, delete the partition using Disk Utility.
You can now restore your virtual machine to a single volume or repartition if you prefer.
I would consider upgrading to a unibody MBP (used, refurbished will do) just to be able to access the HD. Opening the pre-unibody MBP is not something you would want to do. -
