Is this program good for first timers or college students?

After Effects is a program that can do a simple transition between two still images or produce any composite you have seen in a feature film. The only thing After Effects cannot do is create, edit, and animate 3D models like robots or space ships. You can, however, in concert with a 3D app do anything you have ever seen on the screen and, if you are really creative and talented, probably do something we have not seen yet. You can achieve a successful first project by following these 3 videos: Basic Workflow
It may take years of experimenting and research to create something we have not seen yet. Starting to learn to use After Effects is like having the key to the Snap On truck and access to all the tools. You just have to gain enough knowledge to use them all.

  • What about programs like excel and word? college students need these!!!

college students need to be able to access files, send files, and store files using the programs excel and word, why cant i have these on my iphone?

You can email then to your iphone.
Use plain text format when emailing them.
But as for saving them and editing them on the iphone, you can't.
You cannot save or download and save to memory on the iphone.
    Hope this helps.

  • Ssoooo... what's this thing good for anyway?

So I just bought my powerbook used. This is my first mac. I may have under researched this decision. i'm now finding all sorts of guff about the powerbook g4s being "too slow" and "outdated". did I just waste a bunch of money on and obsolete machine. or is it possible to upgrade the hardware enough to salvage it for a few years?

I think it depends on what you paid whether you wasted money or not, and what your intended use is. Certainly the Powerbook series and G4 PowerPC processor has not been used for many years now, and support for programs, security updates, and so on is waning.
Assuming the hardware is in good condition, the only logical upgrades for this machine is to max the RAM and install a larger hard drive (both depend on which Powerbook you have).
While I would not be happy trying to edit video or do extensive Photoshop work (too slow), I still use my PB as a secondary machine for light duty tasks such as email, web surfing (except web video -too slow), photo viewing, iTunes playback, word processing, and so on.
Computers get better. I don't think Pentium 3 machines satisfy many PC users anymore either.

  • Will this program work for what I need?

I have a large number of 8mm & super 8 videos that I have captured on an external hard drive. As they are faded to one degree or another I would like to see if I can bring back the color and lighten etc. I talked with Adobe sales and was assured that this is the program to do just that but I thought a second opinion would be in order. The first sales person said that Permier elements in conjunction with Photoshop would work fine but when I called back with another question I was told no that that was really just a very basic program and that I would not be happy with the results. Please give some input and if there are other suggestions I would appreciate it as well.

PrPor can certainly do most of what you want/need. Some of this will depend on your Assets. I hope that when you did the telecine work, you got either DV-AVI Type II files, or AVI uncompressed. These will allow you the most correction with the least loss in quality. While there is some compression with DV-AVI, you'll likely never be able to find this. One big note: if you go with the trial version, it will not touch anything MPEG.
As for the correction techniques, you are not really limited. PrPro has almost every tool that you could ask for. I've use it to restore many very old, poorly stored VHS tapes, and some were even shot in LP and EP. For more extensive work, AfterEffects would be the go-to program. Still, I do not think you would need to go that far. If one of the suites, that includes AE fits your budget, that might be a good choice.
You might want to try the trial version of CS4. It's got a 30 day period, so you might want to have things ready to go. Create a Project to match the frame size of your Assets, and Import a few. The learning curve seems worse, than it is. Actually, I find PrPro easier to learn and use, than PE. Once you have your Project set up, people here can step you through most questions that you have. As what you do will be dependent on your Assets and their condition, it's not really something that one can give you a formula as to how you should correct.
I'd begin by looking at the Levels Effect (and maybe Highlight & Shadow), then one of the Color Correctors. These were common to my VHS restorations. Since you will be getting a fair preview on the Monitor Panel (for highly critical work one needs a calibrated broadcast monitor, but for something other than commercial TV broadcast the preview is good), so much will be by looking at your Effects and their result. It takes some time, but once you get into it a bit, the folk here will be glad to make suggestions.
Learn how to do screen-caps of your computer's monitor, and attach these to your posts. Seeing approximately what you're seeing will help them. If you already have this down, just be prepared to use that technique fairly often, until you develop a scheme.
Within 30 days, you should know for sure if PrPro can do it for you. I think that it can do all you want, and more. If you are restoring these for a large-screen theatrical presentation, then you will want to add AE, without a doubt. For almost anything less, you should be good to go.
If you do decide that this is the program for you, do read the entire Help file - if there is still a manual (lost art now), read it daily. These will help you pick up on the terms used in PrPro and help others to help you get the most out of your program and produce the best from your Project.
Another great resource is the PrPro-wiki. There are great tutorials and the FAQ section is not to be missed.
Others might have more input, so be a bit patient,
    Hunt

  • What does Videora do for me? What is this software good for?

I am still having an issue with my export having no audio when i go to listen or watch it in my ipod? Someone please help????????????PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

As far as I know, there are no known security risks with it (at least no widely reported cases). I've used it for about three years, and have had no security problems with it. The UNIX programmer folks on here will have more specific technical information, but from a user standpoint it's perfectly safe to use. In fact, if you add other user accounts to your own computer, the other users can't even attempt to access it. It's pretty neat...

  • This worked good for me in updating to iOS4

I kinda posted something about this yesterday, but more as a question. Anyways, I tried this last night instead of a straight-up upgrade where you just choose "download & install" for the update. With the iPod Touch plugged in, I first ran the usual back-up. Then I downloaded the update only. Once that was all done (took about 40 mins since I have DSL & an eMac with USB 1.1), I ran a restore only. Which erased and then restored software up to iOS4 (which kinda surprised me, even though it was what I hoped for). Then when it showed back up in iTunes a minute later and gave me the option to set up as new iPod or restore from back-up, I chose back-up. This took about 25 minutes. Then of course I have to add all my songs and media and apps back on, but it saved all my app info. I didn't run into any issues at all:)

Yep. Tiger 10.4.11. And a 3G 32gig. I saw someone else post this idea this morn under a different post. I wonder why this works so much better.

  • Is this product good for children to own and use?

this is a good product for older children to have becaues they won't drop and if they have a habit of dropping things then they use the ipod touch loop, my daughter just loves that the come in color.

    Zbrown -
you ahve to decide that for yourself. If you cannot decide that for yourself, ask yourself these questions.
    1) Is your child responsible enough to handle this product? What if it Drops? Breaks? Cracks?
    2) Will your child even USE it? If not, why bother getting it for your child?
    3) If your child drops things often, will you be able to purchase the extra loop? It is not included, I am asuming. It will probably cost around $10-$20, so it may cost extra. Is there a store where you could get a loop nearby?
    Hope I helped!

It costs a lot so I don't wanna try out if it suits it.

If it is within Apple Specifications for these iPad Smart Covers, it will fit..

The iPad 4 Smart Covers, also fit the iPad 2 with the 30pin dock cable, and vice versa..

  • Is this RAM good for my Mac Mini?

Mini is the 2.3 GHz i5 (mid 2011). I've currently got the 2 gb RAM that came with it. Will upgrading to 8 gb make it a heck of a lot faster or not a huge difference? Also, will upgrading to 4 gb or 8 gb be better, or is there like a cap where once you go above the amount of RAM it doesn't really affect the Mac.
Here is the one I'm thinking of buying
    http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0374837
Will that work on my mini?
    Thanks.

With a mid-2011 mini,  assume you have Lion installed. Many have reported that 2GB, which is the Lion minimum, is enough to turn the lights on but not enough to get any real performance out of Lion. 4GB seems to be the practical amount of memory to have a reasonably capable Lion system. Beyond that, it depends, as noted above, on what you run.  So, 2GB to 4GB in a Lion system you may see some real performance improvements.  4GB to 8GB and any benefit will depend on what and how much you run.
I like Crucial memory, as I've used it for years in a number of systems with no issues. 8GB for your mini is $46.  They are at http://www.crucial.com . They have free shipping in the US, and you can usually find a 5% off coupon on retailmenot.com. Another source is OWC at http://www.macsales.com. They sell Samsung as well as their own branded memory, and have a good reputation. I've bought Samsung memory from them, again with no issues.

  • Is this macbook good for video games

what is the best mac for video games?

MacBook Pro has two graphics processors, the AMD comes in when the graphics load is high.
The iMac has a much better graphics processor and can handle much more memory and faster cpu for better response.
The Mac Pro has an even higher level graphics processor, memory, cpu, plus can take very large cinema displays and handles dual displays very well.
Take you pick depending on just what you want in the way of gaming capability.  How much do you need, 3-D?  Go to the Mac Pro for that level.

  • Is the MacBook Pro good for typing papers in college?

I am looking at getting a MacBook Pro with retina display for college, but is it useful for typing papers??

It's not so much the hardware but rather the proper software that you need. I suggest using Microsoft Word - some people prefer other word processors, but Word can do everything and more than you will need and it's particularly good at APA styles and templates - you can create your own templates or download templates from the Internet that will work cross-platform.
Word for Mac is so full-featured that, as I said, it has features that you may never need, but if you do need them, they're there.
I'm beginning to have a preference for Word for Windows in Office 2013. But there is supposed to be a Office 2014 for Mac coming out later this year and I'm betting that it's going to look a lot like the Windows version.
    Good luck,
    Clinton
