Is this  the behaviour that happes in Function Module ?

Hi ...
I need to perform a validation check before a record inserted / updated into my own table.
It was done through a maintenance view.
What I am doing is to code a function ( under Screens - access through SE80 )
process after input.
... codes
-->   i put my function here.
... codes
module set_update_flag on chain-request.
I am just wondering what happen over here.
In  the function I developed, will SAP call this function 1 record at a time OR all the records that changed in the table in batch ?
Thanks.

hello D ,
yeah , SAP will execute ur functions.
one thing u need to remember while adding add.functionality in TMG screen , when u re-generate these screen , ur codes will be goes off..
sample codes looks like
Process after input.
  loop at extract.
    module liste_init_workarea.
    chain.
field ytable-versnc *module versn.*--> ths is my validatin module for field versnc
      module set_update_flag on chain-request.
    endchain.

  • What is the difference between subroutine and function module?

What is the difference between subroutine and function module?

    Hi,
    they can both return values.
FMs are mainly used when a routine is to be performed by many programs.
Subroutines (forms) are generally only executed within one program.
You can perform routines from other programs, but it's not often done.
both forms and FMs are reusable modularization units.
To distinguish we generally say that forms are used for internal modularization and
FMs are used for external modularization.
To decide on which to implement, consider whether you need the content to be used just for a limited program
or wheteher it can be called from many independent programs.
For the first purpose it is better to implement a form whereas for the second we implement an FM.
However, ABAP does not isolate the usage context.
That is; you can call a form from another program within whose code the form is not actually implemented.
However, this requires attention since the form may utilize global variables.
The same issue holds for FMs.
FMs are encapsulated in function groups and function groups may have global variables that can be globally
used by all FMs inside it.

  • How to know the changes done in one function module??

    Hi All,
Could you please let me know how can I know the changes done in one function module?
I am not a technical expert..I can just jump into SE37 to access the function module.. but would like to know if there are any logs for the function module screen which tells us about the versions and changes done from time to time?
    Thanks,
    Ramya

    Hi Ramya,
There are ways to look at the modification overview for a function module
    1) In se37, after selecting the function module, click on Ctrl + Shift + F2
    2) Other way is the menupath ie Edit > Modification operations > Modification overview.
    Hope this helps you.
    Please confirm

  • Modify the behaviour of an aggregate function

    Hi all,
I have to modify the behaviour of a measure (ex: MEASURE) object depending on the value assumed by a dimension (ex:DIMENSION) object.
When the dimension objects is a number the measure is sum([measure])
When the dimension is " " (in the DB there is a space when there is no value for that dimension object) the measure is 0 (the top would be putting "NA" instead of "0" but the measure is a numeric field so I'm not sure...)
I'm working on BO 6.5, SQL SERVER and I noticed that only the function "CASE WHEN THEN ELSE" is supported.
Can anybody tell me if I have to work on Web intelligence or Designer and write for me precisely the function I should use?
    Regards

    Hi
what is the data type of you key figure in the database and in the BO universe?
All error messages indicate problems on the DB side.
I assume that you have to cast your key figure in the CASE statement to another data type than integer.
Or you can try the following
    sum(CASE
    WHEN table1.dimension_objects = ' '
    THEN table2.measure_object
    ELSE 0.0
    END)
This should return a float value

  • What is the best way, while creating Function Module based extractor

    Hi Friends,
    I am Sreekanth.
I have created a Functio Module based Extractor,
To fetch data from COPA tables.
In this extracton 3 tables are getting involved.
    1) CE3OP01 2) CE4OP01 and 3) CE1OP01.
    Logic required is as follow:
    1) get data from CE3OP01 and for all entries of this data set,
get data from CE4OP01 and CE1OP01 and finally send the data set to BW after few manupulations.
I have implemented the whole logic and its working fine in DEVELOPMENT box where data volume is less.
But the same code is timing out in Quality Box, due to huge volues of data.
Below I am copying the code that i am using . Any body can suggest me how to proceed further so that my code works with huge volumes of data.
Now I am getting the time out error while selection data from CE3IOP01 table itself.

  • Hello: I am brand new to firefox why am I getting message when I go to a website that the page is not encrypted. This the first that this has happened.

    Hello,
I have been told that firefox is the best. So, I thought I would try it. But, since I have downloaded it, which has been recently it is telling me when I click on information about a page that the page is NOT being
encrypted. This is all new to me and I DESPERATELY NEED SOME HELP because I go to school and
have to use my computer. Thank you! S. Howe

Note that Firefox will tend to learn to go to secure sites. So once you visit a site using the secure option you will not see the message again.
This forum may be read using
    # Not Secure <br />http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/
#Normally you would use Secure https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/988901
If you have already used the secure version Firefox will in future use that when you try to use the insecure version.

  • HT4623 My friend has an I phone & received word that she should install iOS6 onto her phone.  When I try to do this, the line where it says download & install does not light up & therefore, I am unable to install.  Why is this?

My friend has an I phone & received word that she should install iOS6.  When I tried to do this, the line that says "download & install" isn't lit up & therefore, I am unable to do this.  Any ideas?  My phone was purchased about 3 weeks ago.

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

    Raj.S

    Hi Raj
    Function Modules
Function modules are procedures that are defined in special ABAP programs only, so-called function groups, but can be called from all ABAP programs. Function groups act as containers for function modules that logically belong together. You create function groups and function modules in the ABAP Workbench using the Function Builder.
Function modules allow you to encapsulate and reuse global functions in the SAP System. They are managed in a central function library. The SAP System contains several predefined functions modules that can be called from any ABAP program. Function modules also play an important role during updating  and in interaction between different SAP systems, or between SAP systems and remote systems through remote communications.
Unlike subroutines, you do not define function modules in the source code of your program. Instead, you use the Function Builder. The actual ABAP interface definition remains hidden from the programmer. You can define the input parameters of a function module as optional. You can also assign default values to them. Function modules also support exception handling. This allows you to catch certain errors while the function module is running. You can test function modules without having to include them in a program using the Function Builder.
The Function Builder  also has a release process for function modules. This ensures that incompatible changes cannot be made to any function modules that have already been released. This applies particularly to the interface. Programs that use a released function module will not cease to work if the function module is changed.

You can execute function module in SE37ie you can perform the activiites defined in the function module by executing it.
By deleting BOM you mention the FM name in se37 and execute. In some function module it will ask input parameters as developed in the program , you have to give the input parameters and execute.

  • How to write the exceptions in function module

    dear all,
how to write the exceptions in function modules with example.
    thanq
    jyothi

    Hi,
    Raising Exceptions
There are two ABAP statements for raising exceptions. They can only be used in function modules:
    RAISE except.
    und
    MESSAGE.....RAISING except.
The effect of these statements depends on whether the calling program handles the exception or not. The calling program handles an exception If the name of the except exception or OTHERS is specified after the EXCEPTION option of the CALL FUNCTION statement.
If the calling program does not handle the exception
    · The RAISEstatement terminates the program and switches to debugging mode.
    · The MESSAGE..... RAISING statement displays the specified message. Processing is continued in relation to the message type.
If the calling program handles the exception, both statements return control to the program. No values are transferred. The MESSAGE..... RAISING statement does not display a message. Instead, it fills the system fields sy-msgid, sy-msgty, sy-msgno , and SY-MSGV1 to SY-MSGV4.
    Source Code of READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE
The entire source code of READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE looks like this:
    FUNCTION read_spfli_into_table.
    ""Local Interface:
    *" IMPORTING
    *" VALUE(ID) LIKE SPFLI-CARRID DEFAULT 'LH '
    *" EXPORTING
    *" VALUE(ITAB) TYPE SPFLI_TAB
    *" EXCEPTIONS
    *" NOT_FOUND
SELECT * FROM spfli INTO TABLE itab WHERE carrid = id.
    IF sy-subrc NE 0.
    MESSAGE e007(at) RAISING not_found.
    ENDIF.
    ENDFUNCTION.
The function module reads all of the data from the database table SPFLI where the key field CARRID is equal to the import parameter ID and places the entries that it finds into the internal table spfli_tab. If it cannot find any entries, the exception NOT_FOUND is triggered with MESSAGE ... RAISING. Otherwise, the table is passed to the caller as an exporting parameter.
    Calling READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE
The following program calls the function module READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE:
    REPORT demo_mod_tech_fb_read_spfli.
    PARAMETERS carrier TYPE s_carr_id.
    DATA: jtab TYPE spfli_tab,
    wa LIKE LINE OF jtab.
    CALL FUNCTION 'READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE'
    EXPORTING
    id = carrier
    IMPORTING
    itab = jtab
    EXCEPTIONS
    not_found = 1
    OTHERS = 2.
    CASE sy-subrc.
    WHEN 1.
    MESSAGE ID sy-msgid TYPE sy-msgty NUMBER sy-msgno.
    WHEN 2.
    MESSAGE e702(at).
    ENDCASE.
    LOOP AT jtab INTO wa.
    WRITE: / wa-carrid, wa-connid, wa-cityfrom, wa-cityto.
    ENDLOOP.
The actual parameters carrier and jtab have the same data types as their corresponding interface parameters in the function module. The exception NOT_FOUND is handled in the program. It displays the same message that the function module would have displayed had it handled the error.
    Or
just have to decide what exceptions u want and under what conditions.
then declarethese exeptions under the exceptions tab.
in the source code of ur function module.
    if
like this u can code .
now when u call the function module in tme mainprogram.
if some error occurs and u have declared a exception for this then it will set sy-subrc = value u give inthe call of this fm.
in the fm u can program these sy-subrc values and trigger the code for ur exception.
    Please reward if useful

    Ravi
