Is this the best program to have?

I have been working with FCP for a while now and i have to get a effect program. Is LiveType the best one to get?
I know that this type of question isn't normally posted so thanks for anything.
=David=

I need something for titles and background fill in stuff. < </div>
You specifically asked for an effects program and I answered that question honestly. You've changed your parameters.
Go examine the product description and make up your mind.

Does the Macbook Pro have a program to run Windows built in? If not, what is the best program to do so. Purchasing a new Mac.

No. The Mac does not have anything to run Windows
You must install either virtualizrion software or use BootCamp to create a partition for Windows. Once you have done that then you must install Windows.

  • I have an IMac intel  OS x 10.8.2, I would like to know what is the best program to use to make movies and burn them to a DVD???

What is the best program to use that will be compatable with a IMac intel OS x 10.8.2, that will allow me to make movies, add music then burn it to a DVD.  The program I have now, will make the movie but will not burn it???

    You want iDVD.
Purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, DVD Creator, Wondershare, and others.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD.

  • What is the best program and/or method to have crisp clear text in FCP?

What is the best program and/or method to have crisp clear text in FCP?
I have the CS4 Production suite.
    Thanks

What is the best work flow to use? For example creating text in Motion, AE, PS, or AI and then bringing it into FCP.
I used Motion and the text looks jagged. I though Motion was vector based and I don't understand why the edges aren't crisp and smooth.
I'm just starting to learn these programs and want to create good working habits.

  • What is the best program to create a HD 1080p slideshow?

A little advice on what the best program is for creating high quality HD (1080p) slide shows from hires jpegs.  I'm not at all interested in burning the slideshows to DVD.
Until now I've used iMovie HD 6, iMovie '09, and  iPhoto on our mac mini that runs SnowLeopard.
With iMovie  HD 6 the transitions (cross dissolve and overlap) come out quite un-smooth look bad.  Also HD 6 will not do 1080p, only 1080i.
With iMovie '09  photos that are portrait oriented (as opposed to landscape) often get poorly cropped.
iPhoto simply does not have the editing flexibility I need.
I've tried the demo version of Fotomagico and although the resulting slideshow is stunning, on my machine the program is almost impossible to work with because of its sluggishness.  It is painfully slow in responding to all mouse moves. Dragging an image on the Stage is very difficult because the image lags behind the mouse so by the time the little green alignment guides come on to show center or edge alignment -- the image is already past that point.  There is also a huge lag changing images on the stage.   Also the spinning color wheel appears way too frequently.
Photo to Movie, based on their website, Photo to Movie can produce HD quality video.  Does anyone have any experience in comparing Photo to Movie with any of the iMovies?
Other than FCP, what do you folks think is best slideshow program for producing 1080p shows?

Ditto what Matthew said about Photo to Movie.
There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:

  • What's the best program for making a header containing rollover navigation links?

I have all CS4 programs and I'm looking to make a header that contains an interactive rollover nav bar. I want the bar to be located within the header. What is the best program for creating the header and rollover buttons. I'm aware i could manipulate the images in other programs, but placement and rollover button creation is what I'm looking for. Thanks. I'm thinking maybe flash or fireworks?

Spry can do this for you.  See some samples here:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/menubar/MenuBarSample.html
Or there are commercially available menu systems from the likes of companies like Project Seven, whom I would personally recommend:

When you next have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above. Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first. Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough. It is never necessary or helpful to post more than about 100 lines. "The more, the better" is not the rule here.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • What IS the best program to use to create an animation, that needs to be viewed in Powerpoint?

What IS the best program to use to create an animation, that needs to be viewed in powerpoint?  Essentially i want to output a Movie File, so i'm guessing that Edge Animate is out of the question and it's not photoshop, more likely Flash?

So it sounds like you want to create a form. There are really two approaches, either Acrobat (AcroForm) or LiveCycle Designer (XFA form). LiveCycle Designer comes with Acrobat Pro, but it's an entirely separate application.
For an AcroForm, you'd create the underlying document in a page layout program (e.g., InDesign), word processor, or some other software and convert to PDF. Then in Acrobat you;d add the interactive form fields and any scripting you want. You can also add other types of interactive elements such as links, bookmarks, multimedia, etc. You can add a button which when clicked initiates an email with the filled-in form attached of submits to a web server.
For an XFA form, you'd normally create the entire document in LiveCycle Designer, particularly for a dynamic forms. There's a lot that PDF has to offer that's not available with XFA forms, but XFA forms can do things AcroForms can't. For a good discussion of the important differences between the two types of forms, see the following article: http://acrobatusers.com/blogs/thomp/so-what-difference-between-acroforms-and-xfa
For a form that needs to be saved with Adobe Reader, the document needs to be Reader-enabled. When such a document is opened in Reader, it will unlock certain functionality that Reader does not have otherwise, such as commenting, signing digital signature fields, and most important saving. But when a document has been extended this way with Acrobat, there are licesning restrictions. In short, if you distribute an enabled document to more than 500 recipients, you are allowed to use data from no more than 500 forms that have been returned to you, including hard copied. If fewer than 500 recipients, there is no such limit.

  • What is the best program to Rip DVD with 5.1 audio for Mac Book

I just purchased a Macbook Pro and want to rip DVD's. I want to retain the 5.1 audio tracks. What is the best program for this? Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Sorry, but if you're referring to commercial and hence copy-protected video DVDs, breaking the copy protection, which would be necessary to copy the videos from the DVD and convert them, is illegal in the US (and other countries), so we're not allowed to discuss it here.   Some DVDs and Blu-Ray movies come with a "digital copy" that allows you to download a copy of the movie for use on computers. You might see if any of the DVDs you have come with such a feature.
If these are home movies that you or someone has burned to DVD and hence are not copy-protected, Handbrake (freeware) is one of the more popular converters. I'm not sure how it handles 5.1 audio, though, if it will at all.
    Regards.

  • Cfqueryparam numeric help - is this the best way

I have an update in one of my programs and I'm using the
cfqueryparam. It works fine if the value is not entered since the
type is cf_sql_varchar. If the value is cf_sql_integer/cf_sql_float
and the field is required, it again works fine. Now if the field is
cf_sql_integer and not required, it will throw an error if no value
is passed to it. I tried using the NULL parameter, but that will
put NULL in the field every time. I finally ended up using a cfif
statement to check. Is this the best way? Am I missing something?
    How do others handle this?

Your's is as good a way as any. But since you asked, my
    approach is usually like this:
Step 1, build a string variable called sql. Perform all your
if/else and other logic at this step.
    Step 2
    <cfquery>
    #PreserveSingleQuotes(sql)#
    </cfquery>
My method makes it almost impossible to use cfqueryparam
because of all the quotes. However, I find it easier to develop,
read, and maintain code when you have as much if/else, loop, etc
processing in the same block of code.
You might be able to do both. Something like
Step 1 - use if/else logic to set a variable (call it null)
    to either yes or no.
    Step 2
    cfqueryparam null="#null#">
I've never actually tried. Most of my work is with a db that
does not support cfqueryparam so using it is not a high priority
    item for me.

  • MouseOver is this the best way?

I'm trying to create mouse over (tool tip) for everything in
my simulated control panel my question is, is mouseOver event
handler the best way to have the program display a small amout of
text over the mouse pointer. seems to me this is done all the time
and there should be a better way.
thank you in advance for your help

kglad i agree on the Array way i have many buttons, lights,
vents,......... that i want tool tips for so i will do the Array.
another dumb question what is bubbling i did not see a differance
when i tried MOUSE or ROLL.
    i thought
    Knobtip.x = this.mouseX;
    Knobtip.y = this.mouseY;
would make the tip follow the mouse pointer.
thanks again guys i'm taking a 5 day class in 2 weeks so i
will not (hopefully) ask so many stupid questions

  • What is the best program or way to check an image on monitor screen (contrast/color etc)

    Hi,
In ACR I adjust the image so that it looks OK for me.
But there are a little differences in ACR and PS viewing the image (color, contrast etc).
In programs like windows foto-viewer there is an other difference (relative to ACR and PS) >> images have more contrast and darker  than viewing in PS.
An other program Irfanview shows the image with less color (saturisation).
I have made a test print (in a photo centre), that image results in something between Irfanview and PS.
    Question:
What is the best program or way to adjust the color / contrast etc so that I get an photo-image (on paper) that is the same as what I see on mij monitor screen.

THANKS! STATION_TWO for the "over-correct-answer" you give................
If I'm honest, the answer of Richard was for me enough to realize where I made a "wrong inference" in understanding color management.
He is for me the best teacher in this case, I've learned something from him because he's talking on my level.
By the way: the english language is not my native language... so my questions should have to be read with understanding of grammatical expressions from other languages >> ("The color management is know by me…").
Again: Richard, in this case, read my question properly and has helped me on my way.

  • Windows on powerbook for games- What's the best program

Hey guys I need help with some Info
I'm trying to install windows XP Pro and I hear bootcamp is the best but I have a 1.5Ghz (17" Powerbook- 64mb graphics) and I don't think it will run! Anyone knows about this for sure?
Second, I have virtual pc installed but I don't like it because it's slow & i can't play even the slowest games for windows. So I'm thinking my last choice is "PARALLEL Desktop" (since bootcamp isn't for powerbooks) but I hear it doesnt support 3d cards - will Prallels run on my powerbook G4? If yes will it support the graphics (64mb Vram-ATI Redeon 9700)

Neither Boot Camp nor Parallels can be used on your Powerbook, since it has a PowerPC processor (a G4). Both Parallels and Boot Camp only run on the new Intel macs.
With respect to games, with an Intel mac, Boot Camp is a better choice than Parallels. Parallels still only provides an emulated graphics adapter, so as you noted, no 3D or graphics acceleration. Some games suffer under it, and some won't run at all. For usage other than that, Parallels is a great choice.
Intel Mini 1.66 GHz, Mac Pro 2.66 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
Vista and XP running under Parallels
