Is this the right place to provide feedback on the ADF tutorials/exercises?

Hi there,
I have been trying out the "Access a Web Service from ADF Faces" tutorial and have a few questions or feedback about it. You can access the tutorial at [http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/wsdc/wsdc.htm|http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/wsdc/wsdc.htm] . In this tutorial, under the topic Running the Page, step 7, it mentions ignore the error window that appears by clicking OK. This error windows can be found here.
From the message that appears, it seems that on the first load of the page, we are calling the web service with no parameters and therefore produces an error. Why do we still have an error message? I thought we prevented this by performing the somewhat ambiguous (probably because I don't know the adfFacesContext object well enough) steps 1-3 under the same topic ( Running the Page ). Can someone provide some clarity please? I am possibly working on projects where web service controls are essential in the near future.

Another way to prevent the execution of the web service that might work better in this scenario is to use a refresh condition that checks that the parameter field is not empty.
This way we only execute the iterator after a value has been placed in the parameter.

I agree, 110%, I would much rather purchase either Apple or Mac native software but the offerings are limited. I have been using Macs since the late 80's and I always have tried to buy Apple softwrare first. I still haven't pulled the trigger yet on anything but sadly it doesn't seem anyone in the Mac world has anything that can compete with the Sony software.
One of my reasons for doing this is to be able to get HD content to burn to Blu-Ray which is another problem. Finding a burner to work with my Mac(s) is hit or miss. I know I can't be the only person who wants to do this. Clogging up my hard drives with all this video is not what I want. Burn to dsc and store it until I want to watch it is my thinking. And plus I can then take the disc(s) to someone elses house and they can watch it without any problems.
Anyone with any fisrt hand experience with what external Blu-Ray burners might work with my Mac Mini, running Snow Leopard 10.6.8, would also be appreciated!

Again, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but its worth a shot.
so i've been transcribing video all day using microsoft office for mac, and was saving the project (i thought) to an external hard drive. at one point the HD came unplugged, and i plugged it back in. no big deal. i continued to save, to type, save, type, etc until finished. so when i finished and saved the project, seemed okay. when i closed word, it kept asking me if i wanted to save changes...i said yes, and it would just ask me again, did this a few times. i assumed it was asking me to save it to a new location, which i didn't think i needed so finally said no.
i then find out that somehow when the HD was unplugged it erased Words ability to save to said location. so my last save was really before the HD was removed, which is odd, because i kept saving and never was prompted the path was interrupted or anything.
so my question is two part...
1. where would i find in the depths of the computer the saved files? if i was saving, they had to have gone somewhere, but i dont know how to find them.
2. also, assuming it wasnt saving, my word prefs say it autosaves every 5 minutes, so those files must exist somewhere also, yet can't find them...
does this make sense, can anyone help me?

Hi there,
In Finder, select Go menu>Go to Folder, and go to "/volumes".
Volumes is where an alias to your hard drive ("/" at boot) is placed at startup, and where all the "mount points" for auxiliary drives are created for you to access them. This folder is normally hidden from view.
Drives with an extra 1 on the end have a side-effect of mounting a drive with the same name as the system already think exists.
See if it may be in one of those with a 1 or 2 added to it.

If it is the right place, could I suggest that the select forum combobox should appear in every web page from the forums and not only on the Forums Home Page, it requires too many clicks to change from a forum to another.

This is not a bad idea for the Web interface! Just curious though, where would you suggest this (select form control) be placed in the current Web interface? Hmm, maybe under the Browse link in the #jive-userbar-droplink li selector ? That seems like a good place ATM.

Woa! Worst case of TinyMCE editor experience I've ever had here! This happens to be the first time I've used this same computer to serve up music (WinAmp [version unknown] on Win XP Pro) while visiting forums.adobe.com. I usually play music from a physical, separate CD player & amplifier or, occasionally, from a different computer over LAN. (MAN, this is hard to type!).
Any chance you other editor/performance complainants are running a music player while typing in this TinyMCE editor? If so, which OS and player?
WOW, but this is horrid on this dual Xeon box (two physical processor chips plus hyperthreading) in this current XP Pro SP3 boot configuration.
(If no relavent replies to my OT, I may try to replicate later and post results if I can replicate tonight's performanceee.)

You are right, if the ms-design-css-conversion set to “no” which means there is no need to do the conversion for the tag.

ATI HD3870 - have I put this in the right place?

I've just upgraded from an XT1900 (which was slowly frying itself and causing all kinds of graphics issues) to a nice, new HD3870. All's gone well so far with installation and setup. Only one thing is worrying me a little: the 1900 occupied Slot 1, and I've done a direct swap with the 3870. But the 3870 is shorter and its installation has left me with a gap in the back of the machine which was previously covered by the grille on the 1900. Shouldn't I cover this gap up? It strikes me as an obvious dust conduit. If so, with what? Or should I move the 3870 to another slot?

High power cards have to go in slots 1 or 2, so your card is in the right place. Any computer store should have a blank PCI cover for the empty space between slots 1 and 2 when you use a narrow card in slot 1. The space should have a metal cover to prevent electrical noise escaping, not just dust.

Definitely not the right place to ask. This has absolutely nothing to do with Java.
But what you need is screen capture software (Fraps for example...go to download.com or google for other screen capture software). You'll need to use the capture software to create your video. Then use some kind of authoring tool to create your DVD, with the sound and video files put together.
If you came to a Java forum for help with this, the solution might be a bit over your head...

With the release of the V2.0.2 update I have actually managed to build and publish websites for the first time since the introduction of iWeb '08. As far as I am concerned iWeb is working again.
A fair portion of the angry comments posted here are directed at .Mac and not iWeb.
I know that iWeb and .Mac are "joined at the hip" - at least that's what Apple wants us to think - but I shouldn't imagine anybody would say that publishing to the Apple server is the best way.
If you depend on your iWeb built site(s) for business purposes you would be ill advised to use .Mac.
I only use .Mac for trial sites and, so far, I haven't had any problems except from suffering from this server's notorious unreliability.
I was the "one reader" quoted in the MacFixIt post...
"One reader writes: "I'm glad I don't work on the iWeb development team!" One wonders, rather, whether anyone is working on the iWeb development team."
I do know that the iWeb development team are working on the bugs - I don't know about the .Mac guys!

The right place for Windows 10 Server???

I don now of this is the right place for a problem with Windows 10 server ,
I am test it for my company and by Hyper-V I found a problem.
If I setup a vm it works , can access the vm by rdp all works but if I view to Hyper-V manager I see no VM
so you can not access or manage from hyper-V manager the vm's , if I look to the disk index , there I see the VM 's.

How can i get the correct text from a string like it show in the original source with the quotation marks in the right place ?

The text is in hebrew so the problem is that sometimes the quotation marks not in the right place.
For example i have this text: תווית
על בגד: ''תן לאישה לכבס. זה תפקידה''
This is the source original text you can see the quotations marks and they are not in the right place and all i did is copy paste.
And this is a screenshot of how this text looks like in the website in the original:
You can see now where the quotations marks should be.
Now this is how i'm using the text in my program:
First of all i'm using a webclient to download the page from the website and i'm also encoding it to windows-1255 since it's in hebrew.

The problem is in the line:
if (ListsExtractions.lockedThreads.Contains(l_node.Text))
When it's getting to the line with the quotation marks it's never equal.
Now there are more quotation marks.
In general the problem when comparing both text if it's having quotation marks it's not the same.
So i have two options:
1. To fix it somehow so the quotation marks will be the same in both variables when comparing and also the same like in the original as they show in the html page.
2. To remove the quotation marks from both variables.
What should i do ? And how ? I was prefer to use the original quotation marks like in the original since they have a meaning in the place they should be. The question is how can i do it ?
This is example of the block from the html file where the text with the quotation marks is:

Ok, it is unclear on what is happening here.
Are you saying that when the webclient gets the data that it is not honoring the quote characters? Or the processing of the data buffer is causing issues?
This is what I see the of your example text which is trying to be parse out:

It appears to me that the escapes `’` does not have matching `“` anywhere within the tooltip. So it appears that the page properly places left quotes in when processing the page, but the raw html has broken text.
Hence a garbage in, garbage out situation.

Firefox/3.6.10 shows message whenever I click on an icon needing Internet access, saying 'Firefox couldn't install this item because "install rdf" (provided by the item) is not well-formed or does not exist' and advising me to contact the author - ???

Whenever access to the Internet is needed, clicking on any icon or link (including the Firefox icon) results in a delay of around 20 secs., followed by the appearance of the error message, headed "Malformed File". The message reads 'Firefox couldn't install this item because "install rdf" (provided by the item) is not well-formed or does not exist. Please contact the author about this problem.'
Clicking OK or closing the box leads to a further delay of about 20 secs. after which the required action takes place! Of course, it could be said that it's really only a delay, so I should just get used to it, but it's still a malfunction, it's a pain in the neck or another region, and I really would like to cure it. Any suggestions - please????
