Is this true? Logic and hyperthreading
Is it true that logic doesnt support hyperthreading on 8 core Mac Pros, and that benchmarks in logic with quad cores are similar to 8 core mac pros?

Where can I find current information on how other DAW programs (Cubase, DP, Sonar, etc) support multiple cores and hyperthreading? I'm starting to wonder about staying with logic.
That's a good question. We know how logic runs - maybe other apps run better, maybe worse. I'm surprised nobody has done a review/comparison/benchmark across the different apps to compare cpu use.

Is this "Hyperthreading" feature so important to you in your daily work, that you absolutely must have it?
If you have sessions that are CPU intensive and you are getting errors running out of CPU (especially when half the cores on the machine are sitting there doing nothing, then yes it definitely is important.
It's really the same issue as deciding between how many cores to get, how much ram, how big/fast/how many hard drives etc. Audio is intensive on a computer and users need to be able to run their sessions without getting errors.

I am looking into Buying Retail a New Blackberry Q10. Doing this to avoid having to Give up my old Data Plan. Have read that when you activate a new Phone it forces you to pick a new Plan. Is this True? and How to I avoid this? Any other advise in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
20 Year Plus Verizon ClientThe only "unlimited" plan I can think of where this would not apply is the old Connect plan for multimedia/basic phones. That unlimited data, on devices such as the LG Voyager, EnvTouch, and other "multimedia" devices is not the same.
If you currently have an individual $29.99 unlimited data plan with a 3G Smartphone, then you can buy a BBQ10 retail and activate it with the same data plan and keep the unlimited. -
I typed in "about:config" in the URL bar to disable the location-aware feature completely and got the warning below:
"This might void your warranty!
Changing these advanced settings can be harmful to the stability, security, and performance of this application. You should only continue if you are sure of what you are doing."
Then there's a button for me to click on that says, "I'll be careful, I promise!"Don't forget "The Book of Mozilla" on the about:mozilla page.

When i hook his up to my computer, it tries to sync. will it erase all of his data and songs? or will it just put my songs on his ipod? i dont want to ruin anything or have him loose over 1,000 songs. what should i do?

Loading your music on his iPod violates copright law. Sorry but we can't help you break the law.
Really? I didn't know that....I haven't done it, but I thought the copyright law was just about downloading free songs........idk but that'll either delete his songs or transfer them over to yours I think.............not positive. -
Is this true re: 1.2.1 firmware
Someone wrote earlier that "If I'm not mistaken, the 1.2.1 update includes something that makes accessories that aren't certified by Apple to no longer work with iPods. I'm sure that is why it only works with earlier updates."
Is this true? And, if so, I guess Apple is content with punishing people with 5th generation iPods (or any iPods, for that matter, I guess) with 1.2.1 firmware by not making it possible for them to use their iPods in their cars, unless they purchase one of the inferior piece of crap products offered in the Apple Store?
Corporate greed blows.Wow! If you're sure about that, then that's awesome.

I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008), Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53 GHz, 4GB Memory. and am currently running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
I would like to know which is the most stable upgrade for my model? Mountain Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite?
When I had gone to the apple care centre in India a few months ago to upgrade my OSX to Mountain Lion, I was told that considering my macbook pro's specs, upgrading it would just make it less efficient, and that I should stick to Snow Leopard unless I consider buying a newer mac that would benefit from it. Is this true? I find it a bit hard to believe. Which update is most recommended?
I also notice that my mac has gotten considerably slower. While using chrome, it buffers and struggles with even just 5 tabs open. Could this have something to do with my current ios? As a precaution, I have always been making sure I have enough free space on disk i.e around 70 - 100 free out of 250GB.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.Mavericks is no longer available from the App Store, so your choice is Yosemite. One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won't have to go though the revert process.
Check to make sure your applications are compatible.

How can I find what apple ID I used to register my iMac when I first booted up? I am being told that by using this ID I will be able to go on to the App store and down load iPhoto at no cost. Is this true? My iMac does not have iPhoto resident on it now and I only purchased my new iMac in December 2012
Thanks....Launch Keychain Access and click on Login in the left hand pane and then on Passwords. Next do search for Apple in the search field at the top and click on Apple ID Authenicication in the list that comes up. That will give you the ID no. and password.

As I said above, I want to view my iPod screen on our new 40" Sony Internet full HD TV.
I know that you can do this via HDMI but a Sony guy said that you should be able to do this wirelessly by going through the router. Is this true and can I do this without the need for the Apple TV?
We are soon going to get the airport extreme, so will it work with that?1. Is it a smart TV?
2. If so.... Is the TV connected to the Internet?
3. If it is.... Check if your iPod and your TV share the same IP address (Wi-Fi network)
4. If they do.... Then you should go to wherever your "Other Media" tab is.
5. After that.... Search for you iPod. Because it is connected to the same network, it should recognize the device they same way AirPrint does.
6. If you happen to see this fail, then try this method:
1. Do you have a Bluetooth-enabled computer/laptop?
2. If so.... Enable the bluetooth on the computer/laptop as well as your iPod.
3. After that.... Your iPod should be actively searching and it should find the computer/laptop.
4. If it did.... Transfer the file onto Windows/Mac (preferably Mac) and find the program to open the file.
5. After doing so.... Connect your computer/laptop to the TV via HDMI Output Cable.
6. Now it should work! -

I just downloaded Firefox 5 and it said that my Yahoo toolbar will not work with it. Is this true? If so I will not use this new version and will switch to another browser if Firefox stops supporting the Yahoo toolbar. Thank you.
Add-ons contain a range of compatible Firefox versions, and Firefox honors the listed range by disabling the add-on if you are trying to run it on an unlisted version.
I'm sure Yahoo! will update its toolbar eventually, but not every add-on maker supports beta versions of software. -
I have an older iPHone Type MB384LL probably type 1 or 2 16GB version. It was originally used in USA with an AT&T account. I am now in Bulgaria and using a Bulgarian simcard from a local company - MTel. I am told that if I update the software via iTunes the phone will be disabled as it is not using the original AT&T card (original account closed). Is this true? I know that originally all iPhones were tied to a particular service provide, but there has to be a mechanism for dealing with relocating etc.
Your phone has been hacked to make it work where you now live. Thus, updating software or restoring your phone will re-lock it to AT&T. Since AT&T will not unlock an iPhone for anyone for any reason, there is no way to get your phone officially unlocked. If you update software or restore the phone, you will have to hack it again. This will also require the last AT&T sim card that was used in the phone.

i have just bought my first mac and have been told in pc world that i can get a free upgrade to lion, but it would appear that this is only for those in the u.s. and canada. is this true? also from reading the discussions it seems that lion is not a good thing. i am already regretting my decision to go to a mac.
I have found that both Linux and Mac (unix) are capable of reading "deep" folders while win 32 will have issues, your it people are clearly wrong. I run a network with both win/mac. And as long as the win servers/pc's that have shares are set to allow apple file sharing in their folder properties. And the macs are set to allow smb there should absolutely no trouble with you accessing anything across the platforms, heck, from a Mac to a win pc on some occasions you don't even need to include a "domain" name to log on to, and you can create aliases and make your own shortcuts etc... So you don't have to manually connect each time you boot up etc... But that's all personal preferences I suppose.
All I can tell you is that, I do it on a daily basis managing a small business. So your answer is yes you can. -
I have just bought a 2011 iMac (2.5 ghz, 4gb) and logic express 9, and when i installed logic and tried to run it i had a message saying 'you can't use this version of the application logic express with this version of Mac OS X. How do i sort this out!? It is very frustrating as the main reason i have bought a mac is to use logic! Any help would be great as i am a complete novice when it comes to Macs!
You're probably on OS X Lion?
I had the same problem as you. I used Software Update to update Logic Express to the latest version, and then it ran without any problems. -
On Instagram you offer a free iPhone for 20K tagers and followers, is this true or a scam.
It is definitely not an Apple promotion. Whether it's a genuine offer from someone else we don't know but it sounds rather unlikely.
