Is this vista 2012 a scam or real?

Vista 2012 is on my computer system. It started out as non-stopping pop-ups. My credit card was charged $59.95 and the HBC account picked it up as a scam. Not sure what to do now as it is now on my computer icons-

How do i transfer 2011 Birthdays to this year (2012) in iCal?
It seems I have to do it manually at the moment?

iCal and the Address Book are integrated.
If you want the birthday for each one of your contacts that you want to track birthdays for entered automatically in iCal every year - year after year without having to do anything extra, enter the birthday for each contact you want this for in the Address Book. In iCal preferences, select to show the Birthdays calendar. Done.
If not, keep doing it the way you have been doing it which will require copy and paste each birthday in iCal from last year to this year. Repeat for next year and the year after that. Or go into each Birthday event in iCal one by one and select repeat every year for the event. Have fun with that since your question is based on iCal only and you are not interested in learning anything new that makes this process easy and automatic. A contact's birthday should be entered with the rest of the contact's info in the Address Book, and Apple includes a simple option with one mouse click in iCal to bring the birthday entries for each contact in the Address Book over to iCal automatically each year - year after year. But pay no attention - your question is about iCal only.
    Good luck.

  • I keep getting a box asking me to upgrade the system. The box has a click for more info, but when I click it will not open. The overall box stays on the screen only a few seconds. I cannot be sure that this is not a scam.

There are no details about which version the update applies to.
I cannot be sure that this is not a scam so I have not uploaded it. The fact that the box stays on the screen for only a few seconds, before the regular Firefox screen opens, suggests that the box wants the user to make a quick, uniformed, decision, and to press "Next" rather than find out about the changes.

Did you ever install a Firefox 4 beta (or RC) version in the past?
It is possible that you are still on the beta update channel if you ever installed a Firefox 4 beta version or a release candidate.<br />
You can check that by looking at the pref <b>app.update.channel</b> on the about:config page.<br />
If the value of that pref is beta then it is better to download and install the latest Firefox 4.0.x release.<br />
You can find the latest Firefox 4.0.x on this site:

On Instagram you offer a free iPhone for 20K tagers and followers, is this true or a scam.

It is definitely not an Apple promotion. Whether it's a genuine offer from someone else we don't know but it sounds rather unlikely.

  • Why have I been sent an email asking me for my Apple ID and Password. How can I check that this is not a scam.

I want to know why I have been sent an email from Apple to verify my account by asking for my Apple ID and password.
how do I know this is genuine and is there a way to check that this is not a scam

I would be very careful about email asking for your Apple ID and password. These are some of the Official Apple email addresses that would contact you:
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
These email are not to be replied to at all and if the email you receive asks you to reply or has a link that doesn't go the Apple.com or iCloud.com domains, then they are definitely fake.

Of course at this point I knew it was a scam. I called him back after another exchange of emails. I told him that I called Fed Ex and that no package had been shipped. He said that they wouldn't tell me anything until I send him more money. Of course that wasn't true.

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 2012 a scam or for real?

I received an email from [email protected] offering Adobe Acrobat Reader 2012 that is supposed to have the capability to create and edit PDF files.
    It provides this link: http://www.2012-acrobat-online-upgrade.com/
When one clicks on the download button, it first asks for one's email, then demands credit card details.
And there's a disclaimer below, which says: "This website that no affiliation whatsoever with the owner of this software program, and provides only a link to the software program. Copyright 2012. All rights reserved."
If this is a scam, may I ask Adobe to issue a warning because the offer looks tempting.
    Thank you.

Yes. Scam. Easy to spot since there is no such thing as Adobe Acrobat Reader.

  • HT201303 Today I received a fake iTunes receipt for $699.99. There was no money paid from my account - and no live links in the email. So this was a failed scam. Hopefully Apple is doing something about this?

Even though the links didn't send me to another site (as some have reported), and no money was taken from my acount, this is too close for comfort. Apple, please take action against this (apparently Rusian - at least that's where the links lead) invasion.
    Thanks!

That phishing scam has unfortunately shown up quite a bit lately.

  • Searched High and low for this vista problem

    Hi,
I am using vista and Flash MX
Before you ask, I have to be able to use MX because someone I
do alot of work with uses Linux and I guess MX is the most updated
    version he can use.
The problem is that the fonts in the properties and color mix
windows along with others. are impossible to read. They are pixely
and blurred. I can't even read it!!
Does anyone else have this problem or can you think of a way
to fix it? I've tried uninstalling flash and reinstalling it, that
    didn't work.

You cant expect MX to work with Vista, MX was created before
Vista was even a thought in someones mind. I would suggest that you
create a new partition on your hard drive, and install XP on it,
then you can dual boot XP and Vista.

  • How can I syncronize my iPhone and install iCloud desktop with this Vista OS

Hi, my laptop is running on Windows VISTA. Is there anyway I can syncronize my iPhone and install iCloud desktop with this OS or anything to maximize use of my iPhone and PC together.

None of the Canadian carriers offer unlocking, and ONLY the carrier the phone is locked to could unlock it, so you're stuck with Fido.
And is there anyway to install themes to my phone without jailbreaking it
    No.

  • Headphone center sounds extremely loud. Is this vista only b

I just installed vista a few days ago and sound was find with headphones plugged directly into the sound card. And now when i watch anything the sound has to be all the way up in the control panel just to hear anything and even if theres loud noise with the volume low it trys to blow up the headphones lol. Just wondering if there is anything I can do about this. I set it to mute speakers and i can hear all the channels in the headphone.. well i could before whatever the drivers did that messed it up lol. Any help would be nice. This also happens even when i put the 5. speakers back on all the sound comes out of the center channel so its not my headphones. Just wondering if theres a registry fix for this.Message Edited by syllinx on 03-02-20070:45 PM

Sounds like that there could be a lot of data it is reading off the disk or the disks are not burned very well. If it happens on some but not others, your drive is probably ok.
Run a System Diagnostic by putting in your original OS disk that came with your computer, restarting, and holding down D when you hear the chime.
Do an extended test and it will tell you if you have hardware problems.
The other option is that you can run a test by taking it to an Apple genius and having them run a diagnostic on it.

  • $20 off per month email - scam or real??

I received an email stating that I could save $20 a month on my More Everything plan. I'm supposed to call 855-236-6176. Pretty sure it's a scam, but want to be sure. Anyone else get this? I've gotten texts before too about doubling data for no extra cost.

If Verizon wants to give you a deal or offers. They always use their customer care number or request you dial 611. When in doubt dial 611 from your handset.

  • Scam or real?

today I downloaded and tried to install Firefox but it asked for an activation code which I could get my sending a text message with the word "COD" to 35445 which I did. No code came back. Then it said I could continue if I dialled a 905 number. I did not do that. Is this a real requirement for Firefox? Thank you

Hi Kevin - from what you describe you obviously have some malware on your system which tries to rid you of some portions of your money with a fraud scheme. Firefox is free software, no activiation needed.
Check your mobile phone bill and have the amount taken out which got charged when you sent your note to that number (you may even have ended up in a susbcription). Talk to your mobile provider to block that number and any charges for reasons of fraud. Report that number to your local regulation office to have if disabled.
