Is title rendering in premiere CS 5.5/6 GPU friendly?

I was wondering if, on a system that supports the Mercury Engine GPU acceleration, adding a title is GPU friendly or not.
Any help is appreciated.

Look what happens here:
Adding 5 titles does not change any render requirements.

  • Titles made in Premiere become fuzzy after rendering

Is there a setting or button to check in Premiere to prevent titles made in Premiere from loosing the clarity and shapeness they had to becoming fuzzy and out of focus after the video is rendered?

I'm a novice learning Premiere. I assumed the softwear would make the export setting the same as the settings used to make the video sequence. I checked the best quality boxes and in both the rendering and exporting windows, but  the text in the titles made with Premiere played back fuzzy.  However, all the images I used stayed sharp in playback after rendering and exporting, even text that was already in images I imported in to Premiere stayed sharp in playback after rendering and exporting. What are the best sequence and export settings to use to produce sharp clear titles made in Premiere?

  • Rendering in Premiere CS5 vs Adobe Media Encoder? Which is better?

Exactly what the question says. Is there a difference between rendering in Premiere CS5 to rendering in Adobe Media Encoder? Leave your thoughs. Thanks!

Then I have made a mistake. I thought that the AV Export function under File>Export had been fully moved to AME. Obviously, I am incorrect.
No, you're correct: there is not Export > Movie command any longer, and hasn't been since CS3. With CS4, that particular functionality was eliminated, as all exports went through AME, and were logged in the AME queue.
Things have changed yet again with CS5. There is still no Export > Movie as there was in CS3 and earlier; everything still must be encoded through AME. However, in CS5, when you initiate the export, you have two options: Export and Queue. The latter option does what CS4 exports did: they go into the AME queue for sequential export. The former option basically launches a "headless" version of AME and exports as a one-off. The export is still being performed by AME; it's just that you don't have the virtue of it working in the background as it does with the Queue button. I've also encountered some weirdness with Export when it comes to cropping and using hardware MPE, but that's a different story. I haven't done any hard-and-fast tests of which is faster--Export or Queue--but I'd take Harm at his word that Queue is the faster option.

  • Enabling GPU rendering in Premiere Pro CS3

    Hi,
I've just built a computer for dedicated video editing and I am having trouble setting it up with Premiere. It takes a prohibitively long time to render anything.
It's running Windows 7 Home Premium and I've installed my copy of Adobe Premiere Pro CS3.
I've read that I will probably have to configure my computer / Premiere Pro to use the GPU to process the rendering but I don't know how to do this.
Would anyone be able to give me some (really easy to follow) pointers about how to set up and configure my PC to utilise the graphics card for processing?
    Many thanks,

  • GPU and Open GL rendering in Premiere CS4

This is my workstation: A 64 Bit PC with Intel Quad Core i7 Extreme Edition - 3.2 Ghz; ASUS P6T Deluxe/OC Palm Motherboard; 2 Seagate Cheetah HD -147 Go SAS 15Krpm - Raid 0; PNY Quadro CX NVIDIA PCIE 1.5 Go; 24 GB of Ram - DIMM 240-pin - DDR3 - 1333 MHZ; Blu-ray 8X BD/DVDRW 16X SATA LS; Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit; Adobe Production Premium CS4.
Lately, I've had some problems with rendering in Premiere. It seemed very slow and sluggish and I don't know why.
Now, this might sound obvious to a lot of people but. my question is: How do I optimize and use the GPU and Open GL in the best and most efficient way in PREMIERE PRO CS4 and After Effects CS4? What is the best configuration?
Thanks for any help possible. DMVNPRO

Thanks a lot for your feedback, guys. Appreciate.
I omitted to mention that I actually have an extra 1 TB hard drive for the clips.
I've been using my system for about 2 years with 12 Gigs of RAM and everything was going rather well.
In May of 2011, I upgraded to 24 Gigs because I wanted to upgrade to CS5.5.
I'm still running with CS4 but I forgot to mention that I use the Raid 0 hard drives specifically
to use the Adobe software. All of my footage, music, graphics and photographs are on the 1 TB HD.
Also, I only work on one project at a time.
When I'm finished, I transfer everything on an external HD.
And I do defrag frequently and regularly. Not with the Windows defragger.
It sucks. I use Defraggler, a free program that's very efficient.
I had my workstation built from the ground up from reading about
a similar configuration in Videomaker. And the tests were very impressive.
I only have problems with Premiere. Premiere came with the nVidia Quadro CX
graphic card as part of a bundle. So I upgraded from there to the Adobe Production Premium Suite CS4.
I remember that I had to reinstall Premiere once.  Sometimes it just stops working and
literally disappears. Frequently, the rendering is so slow, it's frustrating.
I never had an issue with After Effects, which I use a lot. I also use Photoshop frequently. No problem there.
Could it be that Premiere in some way has been corrupted?
Again, I appreciate your feedback. Thanks again. Daniel Martel

  • Titles rendering problems in HD res.

    Hello.
I have the most annoying problems with some titles rendering incorrectly when i export movies in HD quality (720).
The problems occur when i use titles such as "Drifting" and "Sideways Drift". In preview everything looks fine the title appears normaly above the video clip. But when I render it in High quality the text movements gets all screwed up and the whole picture jumps a bit.
This happens only during title motions in some titles. If I, however, render the same clip but in "medium quality"everything looks fine. The same goes problems occur when i export via QuickTime.
Anny ideas as to what might cause this strange problem?

Good catch, but this trick didn't work for me.
I've made a tiny test file with just a video clip of a few seconds following a green background with the "Sideways Drift" title applied over the background. I can delete ALL transitions from this project and I still get blotchy, jumping text over the green background. In all my tests I export via Quicktime to an AIC file at HDV1080i.
I've also tried switching out the video clip and deleting-and-replacing the background and titles. None of that worked. I have to conclude that the "Sideways Drfit" title simply doesn't work for HD projects.
I'm going to try a few different export settings. Can you recall exactly what worked for you?
[Update] The problem goes away when I export to AIC at the HDV 720p setting. The HDV 1080P setting gave the problem, as did exporting to "Apple HD 1080i60".

  • Premiere CS6 crashes after enabling GPU acceleration

is there a reason this would be happening? i'm running the Nvidia 680M.

I'm currently running 8.17.13.271. when i attempt to install the new driver (306.97) for the 680M i get 'could not find compatible hardware'
The GPU seems to run fine when i don't enable GPU acceleration. after i enable GPU acceleration in the nvidia control panel i get major problems. computer crashes on boot on premiere and after effects. It takes me about 2 hours to get it to boot out of safe mode after it crashes.

  • Understanding Open CL rendering in Premiere and AME

    Hi,
I've got a new mac Pro 8core d700 and am using premiere and media encoder heavily.
Until recently I couldn't really use gpu accelerated rendering because of glitches and errors in the renders. But 10.9.4 fixed the issues for me.
Now I was wondering, if someone could explain to me, what exactly the gpus are used for during what processes of the editing with Premiere.
Until now I didn't see huge speed improvements, in fact sometimes even slow downs with open CL enabled. But today I had to scale a 30 minute video down and it was soo much faster using open cl than software.
Also I had a timeline full of proress clips, just edited together and overlayed with a simple title. Playout of this sequence (using original sequence settings) also was way faster than without open cl.
Is the gpu just used during export? Or also while working somehow? What tasks exactly profit from it? For H264 export it seems to make no difference at all.

  • I am trying to get better playback rendering speed Premiere CS6

I am new to Adobe Premiere CS6.  I am trying to get faster playback rendering speed from my machine.
    Windows 7
i7 4790K Haswell overclocked to 4.5 (watercooled with Corsair)
    16 GB DDR3@799MHz
Asus Z87-WS (4 double graphic card slots)
Geforce GTX 760 (Primary)  GPU hardware acceleration enabled
    Quadro FX5800
250GB Samsung solid state C: (Windows and Adobe)
    250GB Crucial solid state (Scratch)
    2TB Seagate 7200RPM (video files)
    3TB Seagate 7200RPM (storage)
    Seasonic 1000watt PSU
I am primarily editing GoPro videos with effects like TimeWarp or Twixtor and color correction.
I have tried to run the PPBM6 program with no success. I kept getting failure to access files.
I have been looking at adding a second GTX760 with SLI so they will work together.  And possible removing the Quadro if it is slowing things down.
Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks!

...are you SURE your 760 GPU is "enabled" by PPro, and giving you the option of "Mercury Playback Acceleration" under  "General Preferences" ??? If the "Mercury Acceleration" is GREYED OUT and limits you to "software Only", go to Studio 1 website and learn to apply the well known "hack" to enable your 760 in PPro,OR, download their simple program to do it for you.
...Your machine is POWERFUL....especially with your CPU overclock......you MAY want to increase your memory to 32 GB if you are using After Effects....even PPro MAY run better with 32 GB, depending on your workflow.....most systems like yours have at LEAST 32GB system memory.
.....The GoPro codec is natively HIGHLY COMPRESSED and difficult to process, even for beefy machines. That is why they provide the free Cineform tool,( which used to be an expensive professional editing codec), to convert some,or,all of your footage to a more "edit friendly" AVI codec, which will FLY on your machine. HOWEVER, those new AVI files are HUGE.....TRIPLE the original size and requiring a LARGE and FAST disk transfer system. Right now, your single 7200 drive for your media is your SLOWEST component in the chain. The CHEAPEST improvement for you would be to add another MATCHING 2TB 7,200 rpm drive to your existing one and then use the 2 drives to create a fast RAID 0 directly off the mother board to improve the speed of your "media drive". THEN, you MUST insure that this RAID 0 is DILIGENTLY BACKED UP in case of a drive failure in the RAID. This ALSO means you must protect against an unexpected power failure which could destroy the RAID data if the failure happened during a critical write operation.....so,a good UPS is required.
You can OBSERVE how the various components in your system are performing while performing strenuous tasks by bringing up the "task manager" window and watching the CPU load.... if all cores are PEGGED at near 100%, you are "CPU bound". As you are ALREADY overclocked, you can't do anything other than to TRANSCODE your footage to the free Cineform. Your ENABLED GPU can be observed....real time....using the free MSI Afterburner,( or, similar).  Certain operations are accelerated by the GPU with PPro....not ALL!!  Scaling and some effects will use use the "Mercury Acceleration" while rendering previews AND during export. In some cases, rendering previews,or, exporting can be sped up by TEN TIMES by Mercury Acceleration. Watch the "GPU Usage" on Afterburner to see if the GPU is indeed being used, and if you are "saturating" it to its capacity of 100% with accelerated effects.
Make sure your Windows is fully updated to the current time........make sure your NVidia 760 has the most recent driver and DON'T use the Quadro for now. Set your "Windows page file" to be STATIC on your "C" drive at 24GB. Disable "Hibernation" Set all drives NOT to allow "indexing". Do NOT allow any spinning HDD to be over 50% filled....performance WILL decrease.....make sure any HDD is defragged,( do NOT defrag an SSD ! ). Stop all unnecessary processes, esp. anti-virus programs, while editing. Find out how to best "tune" windows to speed it up at the PPBM 6 and 7 websites.
BE AWARE that the "run of the mill" SSDs use cheaper Sandforce controllers, and are less suited to handle highly compressed digital video files. Samsung PRO models and recent Crucial M550 series SSDs ONLY are recommended for video use. Both these non-Sandforce SSDs maintain high WRITE speeds,( over 400MB/sec), AND maintain their high speeds after reaching their "steady state" condition. Cheaper EVO series and non-Marvell controlled SSDs MAY lose their fast write speeds over time and SLOW YOU WAY DOWN !!!  Test your current SSDs by transferring large video files between them  and watching MB per second that appears under "details" in the pop up window during transfer. Make sure none are slow.....test them with HD Tune Pro as well.
Certain non-Adobe plug-ins and certain effects may NOT use all the CPU threads well,or, may not use the GPU.....forcing the CPU to do additional work. You will have to identify problem plug-ins,or, effects by switching them on and off to see if any cripple your system.
Your machine is POWERFUL.....go to PPBM7 website and read the "tweakers" page to learn more....then, register for free and TEST your machine with their video benchmark test for PPro. It should do WELL.....AND it will help identify if you have any "bottlenecks" which are impairing your system.
Good Luck !!!!!.....THEN, start using CC 2014.....like Patton said : "...all glory is FLEETING !!"......so is the lifespan of former PPro versions !!!!!!

I am using Premiere Pro CS6 in Creative Cloud (full subscription), all appeared to install fine, but it is not showing any title templates and I cannot see anywhere/anyhow to download them.

Hi Chris. We are looking into it and will update accordingly.

  • Rendering from Premiere Pro Dynamic Link vs After Effects = fast vs slow?

So I'm doing graphics for a show using a fake 3D look in Adobe After Effects CC 2014.1. In segment 1 there are about 30 fonts that display for about 3-4 seconds each. Technically it's just a bunch of 2D layers of text, not a real tricky or intensive thing.
In my Premiere timeline, things render pretty quickly in the sequence. The show is composed of RED R3D 6K files, AJA KiPro quicktime files and some AVCHD stuff. Sequence timeline is 1080i29.97 for broadcast delivery. The sequence is rendering out to ProRes422 HQ. With no graphics, even the RED 6K files render out snappy. So I've brought these new graphics in as a Dynamic Link file. When I try to render out the graphics things get SUPER slow. Inordinately so. I don't get it. I thought the new "Render and Replace" would speed things up (great feature) however that seems to make things just as slow. So now I'm rendering out of After Effects the old fashioned way (each font is a 10 second file or so) with an alpha channel. I chose the 8-bit Cineform codec w/ alpha channel. Things rendered out, as expected, very quickly. A few minutes and all 42 fonts I built were done.
So what I don't get is why render and replace is so much slower than manually rendering straight out from After Effects CC 2014.1. Based on the time stamps from a "render and replace" process I did overnight - it took about 6 hours to render out a handful of graphics. I rendered out twice the amount straight from After Effects CC 2014.1 this morning in like 5-10 minutes. Isn't render & replace basically just rendering stuff out straight from After Effects (or AME) in the background and then just popping it in your timeline? If that's what is supposed to be happening, I don't understand the discrepancy in time. I'll bring the rendered out files into Premiere and see how quickly that video renders over the original video.
I just wanted to throw this out there to see if I'm missing some obvious thing or if this is as expected behavior.

  • Saving a Title Created in Premiere CS5

When I worked with Premiere Pro 1.5 and made a title, it would automatically be saved in the Adobe folder located in My Documents so I could use it for another project if I wanted to in the future or delete it at my leisure.
With Premiere CS5, I create a title but I can not find it anywhere else except in the project I created it in.  And using the usual Windows 7 methods of trying to save it or copy it to another location don't work.
How can I save that particular title file so I can use it for other projects rather than creating it over and over again?

    Good news.
When Premiere went from Title Deco, and the need to first Save from that progarm, then Import, they include the Titles inside of the PRPROJ files. That simplifed life for many, but now, one must use other steps, if they wish to reuse Titles in other Projects. The Save As Template is a very good one, and the method that I use, when I anticipate needing that Title (or a variation of it) in later Projects. Unfortunately, the PRTL format is ONLY editable and available in Pr. Wish that Adobe would include PTRL formats in PS, but maybe it's not so easy, as my Feature Requests have, so far, fallen on deaf ears.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
